If you’re  from india 10 th class certificate they will accept as dob proof and father and name on it

Hi kkumar.. Yes 10th class passing certificate should work as proof of birth for Indians. It should have your name and atleast one of your parent's name.

That’s a good question abhi my gut feeling is “no” as a ceremonial certificate does not have legal status as evidence of citizenship, I think I’ll need to wait to receive the citizenship certificate before I can apply for it. Just another step in the long wait to become a citizen !

Okay... thats unfortunate. i have my ceremony in Brisbane today and was planning to apply for passport straightaway as I have overseas travel plans coming up. Didnt anticipate there will be a wait for citizenship certificate as well 😞

Had my citizenship ceremony yesterday at inner west council (Ashfield). Nicely organised event with brass band mayor etc. liked getting a plant with my certificate. Only anomaly was not getting issued with a citizenship certificate yesterday, only a ceremonial certificate. Something to do with the election and the transitionary arrangements. Will have to wait for citizenship certs to be posted by registered post in the next few days / weeks.

Congratulations Red Rose. Are you able to apply for a passport using the ceremonial certificate they provided you?

    HI Guys,

I have one doubt, the Ceremony letter will be a hard copy by post, or in some cases comes as e-mail, in all scenario can we able to see the updates in the IMMI online account that we received Ceremony Letter ?. Please help me. Thank you in Advance.

    Hi Sheravanan,

It depends on the council. Some councils provide letter by post only, some provide by email or some provide both. For e.g. Brisbane City Council (where I applied) send letter only by post. The IMMI account status will NOT change after ceremony letter is dispatched. Hope that helps!

I sat my test on 7 March (100%) and haven't had my approval letter yet. I know my police checks are clear (I'm very boring hahaha). Is it normal to not hear anything for this long after? Thanks guys!

When I asked my case officer, he said they usually run police checks before status changes to "Approved". Its straightforward in some cases, but sometimes it does take more time .So, it is normal to not hear from them. Unfortunately, you'll not get any updates until its approved, so it can get a bit frustrating if the wait is too long.

Hi, I’m waiting for ceremony as well, I did my test was on 26/2/19, and now status still received. I wish I can have a call soon. But anyway can you tell me what number of Brisbane city council to contact with? I wanna call them to ask about that too but can’t find the contact details... how do you find their ceremony timetable?

    Thanks

Hi, you can call them at 07 3403 8888

  7. Hi Brisbane folks,

Has anyone received ceremony invitation for 29th April ceremony by Brisbane City Council yet? They send invitation by mail only and I am wondering if I'll be part of it. Ideally, I should have received by now if I am in the list but I have seen some comments earlier that they usually send invitations upto 2 weeks before ceremony. Tried contacting council directly and DOHA but nobody is ready to give any info

wow thats great speed !, we are almost 15 months waiting  and nothing whatsoever from same  Brisbane based  application  ..... can i ask did they contact you for extra info via email ? checking emails daily and immi account but nothing other than acknowledged.....  we are straight forward application  and just a tad jealous you applied after us and already done your test ..... sad face  but waiting  patiently / inpatiently at times lol

Yes... every email that comes in your IMMI inbox comes to your correspondence email as well. So, I received request for info via email. But once you submit the info, there is no acknowledgement that the info has been received and department doesn't answer any specific case related questions. Its just a waiting game unfortunately after submitting additional info

  9. Hi All,

    Update from my side:

    Date Applied: 09/03/2018

    City/Council Area: Brisbane City

    Online/Paper: Online

Date received the acknowledgement email: 09/03/2018

IMMI Request for more info - 18/02/2019 (Asked for birth proof as my birth certificate doesnt have name, provided an option to submit high school certificate for Indian Nationals - It must have your name, DOB and name of at least one parent)- Submitted high school certificate the same day

Date of Citizenship appointment letter - 11/03/2019 (For test on 09/04/2019) - I changed it to 13/03/3019

    Date of Citizenship Test: 13/03/2019

    Date of Approval: 13/03/2019

    Date of Ceremony: Pending

After I completed my test, the officer told me that he ran a police check and its cleared so he should be able to approve today itself. It was approved 15 mins later. He said I will receive a letter of confirmation by mail and Brisbane City Council with send ceremony invitation by mail. So, if my address changes until then, I should inform the department.

Brisbane City Council typically shares ceremony dates and number of vacancies closer to the ceremony date and then IMMI sends them list of people who are in the queue. That's how they decide ceremony dates. Hope that helps.

  10. Hi Guys - I just received request for more information. They've requested birth certificate which I dont have, so they have given me an option to submit high school certificates that contains my name, DOB and at least one parent's name. I have submitted the required doc today itself on my immi account. Does any one know how long they will take to process this info and provide me a test date?

  11. Hi guys. We got our Pr yesterday

    we applied on 8/8/2016

    transision

    accountant

    Nomination approval: 20/8/2017

    visa approval: 22/8/2017

    no document required

and for your info, my application is listed as "received" all the way. Then one morning I received email from my MA about nomination approval then yesterday she called back again about our pr application. And to double our luck, my wife gave birth to our daughter just few hour after we got our permanent. Feeling so blessed

To all outstanding august application, your August is being reviewed guys so stay positive

Wow... Thats such a great news... Congratulations for your PR and your new born... God bless her :)

  12. Hey Guys, this is my first post on here so apologies if this has been covered earlier in the thread. There seems to be discrepancies between different MA's service, PR processing speed and general ethics. Who are people using as their MA? Is the service worth the $4k and is there a correlation between processing times and MA's? Cheers RL

Hey mate... I don't think MAs have any say on the processing time as such... It's all about how diligent your MA is. Some MAs will be more sincere/diligent compared to others and that's what will set them apart from other's. Just talk to your friends and go for a reliable MA. Thats all i can say.... In some cases, a good MA may finish your documentation with a lot more care so that you don't get more info requests. But again that is also based on your case officer so can't really rate MAs based on that. Hope that helps.

  13. Hey everyone!

I got my PR on Saturday, very very exciting for me! No docs asked, nothing further requested. Exactly 6 months and 10 days wait. My MA did a great job.

Hang in there, stay positive and it will come!

Cheers to a new and wonderful life!

Congratulations buddy :).... Did you submit form 80 along with your application?

  14. I was requested: oversea police checks, Aus police checks, form 80s, health assessments, husband's English ability evidence

    Hi Kathy,

Congratulations.. this is great news.... Why did immi ask you for overseas/ Aus police.checks, health assessments again? Did you submit the old ones or you had to do them all over again and then submit?

  15. All the best Eilish!... You are quite close to PR now :)

Immigration emailed my husbands employer Saturday night. Querying what the job is and also something about bench mark. Fingers crossed they meet the training bench mark. They have load of apprentices taking new ones on all the time.

What are the training bench marks I can't remember

  16. Congratulations Harsha :).... Its good to see that we have approvals for applications lodged by July end!

Hello every one got my good news today finally my PR was approved today

Nomination and visa on 29 July 2016

Thanks every one for support and valuable suggestions..

Hope every one will get their news soon..

  17. Congratulations Richo :)

    Hi everyone,

My visa got approved this afternoon! :jiggy:

If you want the details I'm Richo on the June2016 worksheet on the spreadsheet. The forum has been fantastic in terms of sharing information and knowing that I'm not the only one going through it so a big thank you to everyone who has contributed to the forum and everyone who has entered their details on the spreadsheet. To all the silent watchers you should join in and share too.

I really hope everyone's applications get approved soon especially @MANSON, @jesse6, @Lizzielizzie, those people on bridging visas and those people who have been waiting longer than 6 months. The waiting really is quite tough mentally and certainly it is frustrating especially when other people who applied months after you with on what on face value look like very similar applications get their applications approved.

I'm looking forward to seeing you all on the equivalent citizenship forum in about a years time!

    Richo
