    Oops. Just spotted something.

You say you only had PR since 19/3/2018?

Then you shouldn't be eligible until a year has elapsed since then.

If you really mean you had PR since 19/3/2017, then the eligibility date of 23/1/2019 is quite correct because your days absent from Australia since that 23/1/2015 add up to approx 365.

Sorry typo. 19/03/2017. Been on PR a year past there on March this year. March 2019 will be my second year on PR.

You don't have to be physically present in Australia on the date that is four years prior to applying for citizenship - but you must have held a valid visa on that date. You are allowed one year's absence in those four years, so the time you were away from 23/01/2015 to 8/10/2015 could be counted towards that year.

So did you hold a visa on 23/01/2015? When was it issued?

    Hi NickyNook,

Yes i have been on valid visas the whole time.

    417 from 16/08/2012 -16/08/2013,

    Bridging visa from 16/08/2013 - 16/10/2013,

    457 visa from 16/10/2013 to 19/03/2017

    PR since 19/03/2018.

  3. Hi All,

I have been following this forum as my Partner lodged his Citizenship. His details are:

lodged online 19/04/2018, Test on 03/09/2018 and waiting for approval.

I have a question for mine which I plan to lodge next year.

My travel dates outside of Australia are:

    12/12/2012 - 26/01/2013 (417 Visa)

    08/12/2013 - 08/10/2015 (457 visa)

    05/12/2016 - 12/01/2017 (457 visa)

    05/12/2017 - 12/01/2018 (PR)

    07/12/2018 - 11/01/2019 (PR) upcoming trip

I have used the residency calculator and it show I'am eligible to apply from 23/01/2019. Which is great but I don't know how this date works out as i was out of the country from 08/12/2013 - 08/10/2015. Are they taking into my account my previous years to get this date as technically 4 years from 23/01/2019 would be 23/01/2015 but that was during my time away from Australia. Just scared in case i submit in January that it will be refused even though the calculator says eligible. I initially thought i wouldn't be able to submit for citizenship until  08/10/2019 as that would be my 4 years since i entered Australia again. Our PR was granted on 19/03/2017 and my first entry to Australia was 16/08/2012 on a 417 visa.

lodged online 19/04/2018, Test on 03/09/2018 and still waiting for approval.

I have a question for mine which i plan to lodge in January/ February 2019.

    My travel dates are:

    12/12/2012 - 26/01/2013 (417 Visa)

    08/12/2013 - 08/10/2015 (457 visa)

    05/12/2016 - 12/01/2017 (457 visa)

    05/12/2017 - 12/01/2018 (PR)

    07/12/2018 - 11/01/2019 (PR)

    Hi Kristy

Congratulations ... would you mind me asking your partner's application timeline . Did he get the approval straightaway after completing his test ? Are you in Melbourne ? I did my test on Thursday , now waiting for the approval .

    Cheers

    Hi Crunchy,

Partner applied on 19/04/2018 online, test email received on 16/08/2018, test date was for 03/09/2018. His interviewer told him he got 100%.

    Darwin location for us.

It's still not updated on the immi account yet. The interviewer told him that the next process is the police checks which immigration will do and that a ceremony date could take up to 6 months.

Good luck with your application ?

  6. Hi Everyone,

What is required to be taken to the test/interview? My partner has his test on Monday 3rd September and is stressing as he can't find the paperwork for his 417 visa from 2012.

He has his: expired passport (with entry stamp in it dated 16/08/2012), his new passport, the signed 1195 form, signed passport picture, driving licence, household bill, tenancy contract.

Is there anything else he should take with him?

    Applied online.

    Any advice greatly appreciated.

You each can  apply as soon as you qualify. He can wait so you can apply together but he doesn't have to

    Thank you rammygirl.

Think I’ll get him to apply when he’s on pr 12months come March 2018. Just incase new rules are talked about come July 2018 again.

    i will qualify in December 2018 ?

  9. hi not sure if i am in the right topic for this question:

My partner and i were on a defacto 457 (i was on his visa) we then got PR.

we have been in Australia since August 2012. He will have completed all eligible time of 4 years in Australia  for the citizenship however i wont as i spent 1 year 9 months at home between 2013-2015. I came back to Australia in October 2015. We were granted PR in March this year so if new rules still apply Citizenship application will begin in March 2018.

As i wont have met the 4 years by then will me partner be able to lodge his citizenship before me or because we are defaco will he have to wait until my time of 4 consecutive years is done in Australia.

    thanks in advance :)

Thank you for your reply kirsty160990

I don't have a either a bridging visa or acknowledgement letter as I have been sponsored from the Uk and the migration agent submitted the Visa.

I don't suppose I have got much hope of her replying even if I ask for the number...

    Hi @elizawho77

Your migration agent should have sent you an acknowledgment letter via email to let you know that your application has been lodged. Try calling you migration agent and ask them to send you the acknowledgment letter so you have a copy of it for your records.

As soon as an application is submitted to immigration - immigration would email to say they received it (normally sent to migration agent). Definitely follow this up with the migration agent. Is your migration agent based in the UK or Australia?

    Hi Kirsty160990

Our migration agent is as bad, they would request information and  never aknowledge reciept. months and months go by before we hear from them  and they never reply to simple questions.

I was offered a job with 187 RSMS visa in May 2016. The company gave us the details of the MA they use. We thought for ease (as they deal with all migration for the employer) we would use them.

The MA wanted to have a decision ready applictaion.

We had our police checks (July 27 16) and our medicals (Aug 20th 16). We did question this at the time knowing that they had 12 months validity but she assured us all would be okay. She submitted the application in Oct i dont know if this was the beginning or end. We have had 2 emails since Oct, one for statutory declarations and one to tell us that its looking likely to be June 2017 before we get a case officer:(

Given that there are 6 of us the medicals already  cost us 1500, we really don't want to pay out again on top of re doing the police certificates.

How are you able to view your application on the Immigration website if your Ma submitted the application? It would be great if we could access our application so we can see if everything has been uploaded.

    Hi Elizawho77,

I completely understand your frustration. Try and stay positive (i know this is hard to do).

Have you tried contacting Immigration directly and ask for a general update? i done that on 20/03/2017 as I was so pissed off with my migration agent (he submitted re quested documents 5 days after the initial 28 days that immigration gave him). He had this document from the beginning so i don't know why it wasn't uploaded then.

Immigration checked my file with the TRN number, asked me if the documents requested were submitted i said yes and the lady said ok i will look into it. I checked my immi account 20mins later and it was approved.

I would definitely suggest give immigration a call.

this is the link to create a immi account so you can track it https://online.immi.gov.au/lusc/register

the second step is to enter your TRN number which would be on bridging visa letter or on you visa lodged acknowledgement letter.
