Hi everyone,
I've a question - Will the below affect my partners or my citizenship applications?
Partner was granted 457 visa in October 2013 (I was de facto)
PR subclass 187 granted on 20th March 2017 (I was de facto)
Partner submitted Citizenship application April 2018, sat test September 2018 and received approval on 29th May 2019 (still waiting on ceremony)
I submitted my citizenship February 2019 (I went back to our home country in 2014 for about 6/7 months so delayed the date I could apply). My citizenship status is still received (not expecting any updates anytime soon with the current processing times)
Partner has been with the same employer from the beginning, they sponsored him on 457 and again for the 187 PR. Yesterday they handed him a causal contract (obviously was on a permanent full time contract since 2013) this causal contract came as a surprise, when he was handed it he was told it was just because work was getting a little quiet (construction industry) he signed the contract last night and took it to work this morning as he also wanted to ask questions eg he has over 100 hours built up in personal leave so wanted to know if he will still have these or will they be gone. He was told they would be gone. He's angry now because he has been a loyal hardworking employee since 2013 and now he's loosing all his accrued personal leave, sick leave, holiday leave (he only has a few hours built for holidays as we are just back from a home visit so used them up). He understood that with the casual contract he wouldn't get sick leave or annual leave from the date on the new contract but he wasn't expecting to loose all that he has accrued.
The company must be in difficult situation as all other employees were moved to casual contracts a few months back (we were overseas at the time so my partner was still on permanent contract) all other employees there aren't sponsored they are Australian citizens.
My question is will this affect our citizenship applications? My partners is at the approved stage and just waiting on the ceremony mine is at the received stage?
We would hate to think we have come this close and not get the citizenship.
I checked our 187 PR paperwork and the only obligations I can see is that you must remain in the nominated position in the regional area for at least 2 years. 20th March 2019 would of been his two year mark on PR. Does this therefore mean he can now change employers but still have his PR?
Any advise would be greatly apricated.
Thank you

Processing times updated today. Partner is currently month 13. Test completed in September and still showing a received.
Slight changes but look at the descent time frame 54 days to 84 months? Do you think that is an error or typo? last month it was 54 days to 4 months?
Makes me wonder how accurate these timelines actually are.

Hi all!
I've tried requesting access to the application spreadsheet a few times in the past.
Anyone know who's in control of allowing access to it?
I used the link below, please let me know if this is wrong!
Thanks in advance.
Tom
Hi millski88,
its all messed up and incorrect dates as someone has messed around with the dates etc. Not accurate at all now.

This forum has gotten very quiet.
Either nothing has happened with the applications or people have just given up with the forum as fed up with the waiting

I sat my test on 7 March (100%) and haven't had my approval letter yet. I know my police checks are clear (I'm very boring hahaha). Is it normal to not hear anything for this long after? Thanks guys!
Hi Rach,
My partner sat his test on 03/09/2018 and is still waiting for approval. He got 100% in test also. The interviewer told him that approval could take 6 months from test but its been 7 months now and still nothing. As per immi website he is still within the time frame of 16-21 months so I guess still a long wait ahead.

Wow that’s a long wait. Did you take your interview and exam at IMMI Wellington in the CBD?
I’m waiting for mine as well but I only took my exam three weeks ago. The interviewer said that it would be 2 weeks to 2 months of waiting time.
My partner has done his test on 03/09/2018 and is still waiting for approval. 7 months since test. Darwin area.

Hi kirsty160990
Thats more than the timeframe officer told me today. He said about 6 months to ceremony. Could you call and ask?Hi hb31
yes interviewer told my partner approval can take 6 months from test. Haven’t called though as online their processing times for conferral to decision is 17-21 months so if called they will probably just say it’s still well within that timeframe .

Hi Jazzi87,
My partner completed his test on 03/09/2018 with 100% and still waiting for approval too. Darwin NT for us.

Partners status is still showing as received - Test completed on 03/09/2018 with 100%.
I emailed our local council to see when the next few ceremonies will be and I have been advised 16th March (all have RSVP for that one so no chance of him having the chance to attend that one) then the next one after March isn't until 27th August .
The lady was lovely and asked for my partners name to check against her list in case the letter was sent to an incorrect address but nope not on it.
Looks like it could be August now if he gets approval now.

Hi all - quick question. I've recently become eligible to apply for citizenship and noticed I needed police checks from the UK. Do I have to attach them before I submit the application? Or can I attach them at a later date?
Hi littlefoot, does your application tell you that you need to submit UK police check?
I'm due to submit my application soon and didn't know i would need to have a police check from the uk. I have been on PR since March 2017 and have only been out of Australia twice for 5 weeks each trip.
I have been following this forum for my partner - he submitted his citizenship April 2018 with application still waiting to be approved. He completed his test on 03/09/2018.

The audit report also found that the number of backlogged citizenship applications has increased by a whopping 771 per cent over the same time period.

Hi,
has anyone had any luck with getting approval after uploading a document to say you have returned from your holiday overseas? (do you think if you upload a document it sends a notification to the case officer that a new document has been added so they look at the application again?)
I called the department the day after we arrived back into Australia and they didn't ask for my application ID number or anything i was just told a generic answer 'we will know you have returned as your passport will show you are onshore'.
Sat test on 03/09/2018 and still waiting for approval even though 100% in test as told by the interviewer after i sat the test.
Just frustrating seeing approvals from those who have just recently sat the test - some even having same day approval.

Hi,
we done our bridging visa B when waiting for our 187 visa 2 years ago. The bridging visa was easy - only a few questions and can be done via immi account. The bridging visa came through for us within a day. so i would leave the bridging visa b until about 2 weeks before your trip just in case your 186 gets approved before you go.
As or medical and police checks for your current application:
- we done our police checks before we were asked for them (i wanted all documents uploaded so the case officer wouldn't have to ask for them and delaying the process) We got our UK police checks sent to our parents address in the UK and got them to scan a coloured copy to us. So we could automatically attach it to out PR application. Parents then posted the original out to us. Post from the UK can take several weeks which is why we got them sent to parents house, then for them to post out once we had the scanned copy.
- medicals (i wanted to do these and get them uploaded to our application at the start too,but you can't do this. For the medicals you need to wait until they ask you for them as they email you a letter with a unique bar code which you have to take to your medical. You will only receive this letter when they request you to have the medical completed. We are in Darwin with only one clinic that done the visa medicals so we had to wait 2 weeks for our medical appointment with the clinic, so i would suggest as soon as you get the medical request to call your clinic and get booked in for it in case there's a couple of weeks before an appointment is available.
Hope this helps.

Hi Keshev,
My partner is still waiting for his approval. He done the test on 3rd September 2018 and got 100% also.
Looks like there isn't any real pattern and its all just random as some are getting approvals the same day as the test then others waiting months

hi all,
what is the process to change name after marriage?
I got married in my home country (N.Ireland) and have just received my name change certificate in the post.
Do I just upload this name change certificate to my immi account or is there a form I need to fill in as well?
Application only submitted in February 2019 and still at the received stage. Have not had my test yet either.
Thanks in advance
