  1. Hi, i live in South Brisbane, if you need any help or advice please let me know
  2. Personally i think Carindale is very sterile. The houses are generally new and big, but the place lacks soul and there are very few areas for the community to meet. The parks and outdoor areas are easily accessible, but you will generally need to drive to any shops and restaurants. The public transport (bus) is frequent and you can get to most places without having to change. I would be looking at areas like Holland Park, Mount Gravatt, Taragindi ,Coorparoo and Norman Park. (last 2 in flight path). These all have good access to major roads and public transport into the CBD, great schools, tonnes of bars and restaurants and lots and lots of parks.
  3. I can recommend this in the short term. We moved to Oz in July 2011 and we were in the same situation. We lived at the holiday cabin for near 2 months. It was perfect. Don't get me wrong, its not the Ritz Carlton, but covered our requirements perfectly and was the cheapest option. The cabin itself had 2 bedrooms, living room, and bathroom. Along with acess to pools and a restaurant. its about 10km from the CBD, but right next to the Westfield Garden City Shopping Centre. https://www.brisbaneholidayvillage.com.au/
  4. Hi, To be honest there are so many suburbs within the 3-5kms range of the CBD that cover your requirements. Both Northern or Southern suburbs. Maybe look at New Farm, Teneriffe, Spring Hill Paddington, Auchenflower, Coorparoo, Norman Park, East Brisbane, West End. I could go on and on. Each of these are all great suburbs and would give you what you need. if you need how any further questions i'm happy to help.
  5. I have lived in Brisbane for nearly 6 years now.......and i LOVE IT. Don't believe those people that tell you it's still in the 1970's, what a load of rubbish. Brisbane is a modern, vibrant city with great bars, cafes, restaurants and shopping. I personally live 6 km away from the CBD and as the public transport is so easy, I manage to get from door to my daughters school each day in less than 10 mins. Obviously if you go by car, then like all major cities, there is the typical rush hour traffic, so try to avoid it. After moving from London, trust me the volume of traffic is much, much less! Overall, Brisbane is a beautiful, safe and great place to live and work Brits fit in just fine. Its up to you how you integrate with your new surroundings that will decide if you fit in. Make as many new friends (not just brits) and you will be just fine. You wont regret your decision. I hope this helps, if you need any help please let me know. Paul
