Bear in mind that you don't have any certainty AT ALL until your visa is actually granted.  Your visa can still be refused, even after you're assigned a case worker and after your form 80 is accepted.  The government might come out and change the rules two days before your visa is approved and that would be the end of it.

It has happened in the past with other types of visas - the rules  change and suddenly, hundreds of people, who've been waiting patiently in the queue for years, have their applications cancelled and that's that. So don't count your chickens.

Appreciate the speedy response Marisa and Allan. I will definitely take on your advise. Looking forward to hearing something in 2019.

  4. May I ask everyone what is the preferred option for my questions. We are lucky to be in a position that we have the funds for the AOS.

At what stage would you put your house on the market to sell.?

    1. When we get a case worker?

    2. When medicals and form 80 excepted.

    3. When visa is granted.

I so need to get this right. As we made the mistake of selling to soon and rented for a year. Now in another property waiting for a case worker.

    Appreciate any thoughts.

  5. Wishing you all a Merry hot Christmas here in Melbourne. It’s been 39 months waiting for immigration to pick up our visa papers. Probably waiting another 10 months for some movement.

We applied in September 2015. Has anyone who applied the same month received anything from immigration? I would like to tie up with others keep tabs on progress.

May you all enjoy your day. From Jessey J

  6. I truly hope that someone in immigration read these posts. I think it's totally disgusting how they can play with people emotions.

We are Parents Who want to Work and not live off the government. We've bought up our children that way and that's why they have done so well. We are willing to pay the fee for the 143. But i think it's diabolical if the fee increases mid term.

For thoes Parents who have gone over with the 173 I'm truly worried for. As when they need to apply for the 143 I hope the fee will not change for them when they first applied. It sure is a stressful process but I keep saying to myself it will be so worth it, being with loved ones again.

This is what SBS News Au had to say.

The government is remaining tight-lipped on the finer details of a new temporary parent visa announced yesterday, which will be officially outlined in Tuesday’s Budget.

But SBS World News understands the new temporary visa - which allows migrant parents to stay in Australia for up to 10 years, and costs up to $20,000 - will sit alongside current visa options, rather than replace them.

There had been concern among applicants and migration agents that the temporary visa would replace the two permanent migration options – the government currently offers a $5,935 visa with a 30-year wait period and another for over $47,000 with a three-year wait period.

But while those options will remain, they could potentially see significant price rises in next week’s Budget, a measure recommended by the Productivity Commission last year.

  7. Now this is going to sound very silly but I'm going to ask for opinions anyway.

Last year we were granted our 143 parents visa. We were visiting Australia at the time, so had to go on holiday to New Zealand while it was issued. This meant that it was validated on our return to Australia several days later. We returned to the UK at the end of our holiday and have been here ever since, intending to make the big move this year.

As as we approach the anniversary of our visa issue, I am starting to have niggling doubts about whether it was validated on our return from New Zealand last year. It probably sounds ridiculous to those of you who have yet to get the magical visa, but you don't get anything when its validated, there's no special stamp in your passport or anything like that. I keep wondering if it was definitely validated because if you don't validate it within twelve months of issue, the whole thing is voided.

Should I email the P.V.C and check or am I being ridiculous?

Hello Mr fisher, might be an idea to ask your agent.

  8. Hi,

I am also planning the move on my own. I applied for my Visa Sept 15 and plan to out Sept 17 on an extended tourist visa, and hope the CPV is granted within this time frame.

I will have to rent my house out in order to fund my life in oz.

    Heading for the Gold Coast

Hello Mrs Bee, I to applied for our visa in September 15. Ours is a 143

A friend of ours applied in July 14 and I have been tracking his progress all the way. His visa was granted February 17. He moved over 6 months early with a 600 visa. So it took 30 months in total.

Might be an idea to get yourself a years visa if your planning to go September 17. It takes two week to process a 600 visa.

Hope this gives you some idea of visa delays.

    Best regards JJ

  9. Hi Geoff and Gill, wow thanks ever so for the info. Nice area Caroline springs and diggers rest is not far to your family for future baby sitting . I will have to check out Mimosa Homes see if they build near Doreen north west of the city. Our daughter and her husband have two children living in Doreen. We can't wait to be with them.

Im impressed with the building process. The quality, style, diagnosed and defiantly the cost. You get your money's worth. Yes there might be a few hiccups along the way. The finished product looks amazing. All the best for tomorrow.

  10. Hello Geof and Gill, best of luck for tomorrow's move and hope all goes smoothly for you. We are waiting for a completion date for our move. It's so scary as we have lived and loved our house for 20 years. We to are renting to wait. We have been thinking of buying a land and build package. May I ask when you found the land, did it take long to arrange for building plans and permission. Did you seek a builder or was one allocated to you. I hear that to build you pay as you build each stage. Looks like you got so much done. Were you in Australia for long to arrange all of this. Appreciate any info as we are one step behind you. Many thanks JJ

  11. Hi JJ

Yes it's a worry as you get closer to assessment. If the meds and police reports are OK and everything OK with your sponsor to do AOS then logically there should not be a reason why you shouldn't be granted. That's what I keep telling myself but there is always a little worm of doubt.....the only reason I've heard for refusal is medical but I'm sure someone out there might have a better idea. The nearer the assessment date the more paranoid I get!

    Julie

Hi Julie, thank you for the response. I was thinking that the medical and police checks were the two main obstacles. I did not realise you could ask for the HAP number thou. Great I will chase them up next year. As its only 11 months down the rocky road for us.

    Keep your hopes high. ☺️??

  12. Hi jessy we applied in April 15 for the CPV 143 and also have both sons in Melbourne so will probably settle close by , this is a great site for information. We have just spent 18 months in Australia returning in May and also live in Hampshire so we have a few things in common. Look forward to future posts Lorraine

Hi Lorraine cheers for the reply, omg small world. Really in Hampshire.

Wow 18 months. Sounds great. Bet you've seen a lot out there.

Great talking but me bed is calling me. Thanks again. JJ

  13. Hi everyone, when a CO is assigned to our case, how many days are given to us to gather all the supporting documents such as health and police clearance?

Hi ch128, not sure anyone can answer your question. Would you mind giving us an idea of what visa your applying for and when you applied. Someone then be able to help. I'm new to this wonderful forum too. It's taken me a while to get my head round it.

Look forward to hearing from you JJ.

  14. Hi,

I'm also a Sept 15 Lodger, nearly one year in, and agent has told me there is no chance I will hear anything for another year. Daughter on Gold Coast, coming home for Christmas though.

Hello Mrs Bee, JJ here and it looks like Christmas 2017 that I'm estimating our visa will be granted. So far it's a 26 month process. I'm hoping Immi catch up and don't delay things. Luckily I'm busy working and time is moving quick.

  15. Hi, we are also Melbourne bound. We have a daughter, son-in- law with two grandsons in Greensborough and a son, daughter-in- law and a brand new granddaughter ( 6 days old) in Caroline Springs. We have sold our house, just awaiting completion, and are already in rented accommodation, with most of our worldly goods ( no furniture) in storage. We spent last Xmas there and are off again next week to see our new addition. Will probably not want to come home!

    Hi JJ

we applied June 14 and still waiting, house sold all packed up awaiting shipping. We are living with our daughter in Safety Beach, vic until we are allocated a CO. It's been over 25months now and we are both acutely frustrated by the delay with IMMI as we just want to get on with our lives. Where about S in Melbourne are you headed?

    Julie

Hi Julie, I feel for your waiting. It's a long time. I did an auto reply to IMMI today and they are dealing with 1st of June 2014.

We were visiting in February this year and went to Seaford beach. Not to far from Safety beach. The sea is crystal clear and warm, yellow sand and beach had a hand full of people. Our family are in Doreen.

  16. Yee ha, first reply. Thank you Bev for the quick reply. Didn't expect one soon.

We knew before applying that it's a long process. But it seems like we a living in a time void. Everything seems to go slow. Still it's almost a full year we applied and that's come round.

Yeh were on the housing market and hope to rent once sold. Sorting out stuff and reducing what we are taking is slowly getting there.

When was the last time you visited your daughter. We were out there this February. So missing the grand kids.

    regards JJ
