  1. Get it on Carsales ( $60 till sold ) and gumtree (free)

I am currently on Carsales site and just had a quick look at 2014 fiestas (obviously not sure what model yours is)  going for around $10000 but you need it gone so advertise for $7900 and be prepared to let go for low $7ks  give or take  ( yours is low kms so should get good interest )

Dont tell anyone your living the country or you will be getting terrible offers.

If you took it into a car yard you would probably only get $2/3k for it so keep this in mind if you do get any interest........

Dont bother servicing just make sure oil level etc not low.

    I am overall happier.

Drivers are more polite, still some idiots, but far better than battling my way through Melbourne suburbs.

I can afford to live in a market town and walk to everything as opposed to way out on the outer fringes with no pavements or streetlights and having to drive everywhere.

    Long summer evenings were great!

Enjoying the vast range of shops and choice of products.

    Ah a pub lunch!

Overall I am pleased with my move.

This must mean you have discovered Main st - Bears paw, Queens Head etc

Get out to Tarporley and see how many fantastic old pubs you encounter on the way.

If you're only qualified in gas, I'd be a bit worried.  Gas water heaters,  fires and gas cookers are MUCH less common in Australia so there's much less call for the trade.

Out in country areas if you want gas in the house, you need to use bottled.

I genuinely would struggle to find a house that didn't have mains gas and gas appliances.

Country areas i would agree with.

  4. Before you do anything else call the ato with a number you have sourced yourself, this will then atleast confirm its not a scam

I have just had a quick look at some of my own paperwork and 13 28 61 is a general phone enquiries number ( does that number look familiar ? )

If they answer and know what your on about then it's legit.

Sorry if it sounds like stating the obvious but you can't be to careful.

  5. That's good then.

Obviously I'm not sure what model Honda they say they have have for about $30k but make sure you see the cars advertised price first ( sounds like they know your budget 😱 ) and will look for you to just buy it because they tell you its worth $30k.

Make sure the vehicles are in the yard with a price on the windscree ( let's say $32k )     then you offer $26k and take it from there. Be brutal or you will get ripped off.

Last vehicle I purchased was on display for $27500 I payed $21200.................

Carsales.com is a good place to check out prices ( the Honda place you are talking to may even have a few cars on there )

    Good luck with it all.

  6. Just my opinion here but I would keep it simple because I have no idea how you will go for finance.

For example, a brand new Toyota Kluger = $43k  same car 2/3yr old = $ 30 - 35k ( you can haggle a used car ) and save atleast $10k if not more and not be messing about with finance paperwork and should still feel like a new car.

Ford territory worth a look also.

If you go the 2nd hand route ( so Toyota Kluger, find a Toyota dealership ) haggle like mad ( screen price says $33k offer $28k and stop at $30k ) don't pay anywhere near the screen price, they will expect you to haggle.

So, lets say I'm expecting my brother to send me some money from the UK.

Let's say I use Moneycorp for this....

Do we both have to set up Moneycorp accounts?

Does he simply transfer money from his UK bank to my Moneycorp account?

When he has put the money into my Moneycorp account how do I get it into my bank account?

    Only one Moneycorp account required.

The person ( your brother) sending the money sets up the account and inserts the details of the bank account the money is going to.

I've found it, if you do a dummy booking it is in there, for a 25kg bag its £825 which is more than the cost of the flight!

Can send via an unaccompanied bag company for £120 and i though that was a lot.... LOL

    You live and learn...

    Is that all............?

  9. I'm not a fan of the h&r block type accountants ( I used them early on when we first got here years ago ) and they were mediocre ( seemed to be full of newly qualified student accountants who were very inexperienced ) but maybe I was unlucky.

We now use a small accountant practice in duncraig, get the same person every year and they are very knowledgeable and reasonably priced ( as long as you are organised)

Its a long time ago (15yrs ish) but I remember when we returned to the uk/europe for a few years and had to do the same thing, we just did all the paperwork for the next financial year and then the accountant simply lodged it in the 1st week of July the following year.

Dont forget to tick the box that states it's your final tax return.

  10. Moneycorp along with 2 others will get the opportunity to handle my overseas transfer. I have already moved small amounts with each of them and are pleased with how it went.

When the time comes to move the bulk of my money it will all come down to rate given, hopefully moneycorp can be the best but it will be too big an amount to just give it to them and lose hundreds if not thousands of ££££s.

Moneycorp have been great up to now and communication has been prompt ( making sure you take the time difference in to account)

    Hi ,

i have sincerely put myself out there - joined groups - fitness , school groups ect

i just found myself with the same hurdle of - cliques and almost political friendships.

its not something I'm used to and just wondered if this was just me felling like this!

I'm a very social person and my own company I like, but I do like to enjoy my friendships - have fun and do things - this to me is a healthy balance to have within my life.

So much so - I feel very alone here

yes I have my husband and kids but I do believe friendships and socialising is important too.

    I totally understand.
