  1. So I applied over 7 weeks ago and am still yet to hear when my test is. Is this a normal wait time?

Hi Leanie. Great to see you here on this forum as well. It appears you are waiting longer than most applicants here. I would get in touch with DIBP to find out.

Congrats Rob. I hope you get into the big Australia Day ceremony in Jan. March seems a long time to wait. Good luck.

  3. Applied 31 of july 2016

    From melbourne (st albans)online

    Test 26th of august 2016

    Passed with 100%

    Still no approval letter yet

Hi Harriiii. Most applicants receive their approval letters within two weeks of passing the test. DIBP always maintain that they will consider applications on a case by case basis. To my understanding, a delayed decision often relate to high risk passports or region you had lived prior to or during your permanent residency in Australia.

  5. Hi James, I had the test on 29 Aug 2016 and received a post on 02 Sep 2016 that, the application has been approved dated on 29 Aug 2016. I believe we would be mostly getting similar dates.

Keep us updated, if you have received your approval letter.

Hi DranP I received my invitation letter from DIBP dated 22 August and my ceremony is 15th September. I will update my timeline shortly. Good luck!

CO told me that ceremony for my council is approximately 3-4 months from approval.

  7. Hi James, when did u get the test date notification?....did u get the test date by email or post? Did u reschedule ur test date? I applied on the 7th haven't got a test date yet good luck to u james

Hi. It was email notification. I received on 22/07/16 for test date early September. I managed to change it to early August. Dont worry mate. You will be getting your test notification soon. Melbourne is not too bad compared to other cities. I heard Adelaide is really quick though. Good luck.

  8. Good new guys. Citizenship test scheduled.

  9. I lodged my application with DIBP for citizenship by conferral last week. Since I lived in middle east after grant of PR, I had to provide police check. I uploaded the pcc and attached it to my application.

However, after a week I recevied an email from the department advising me that I ve been scheduled for an interview and will be shortly informed of the date and time. The email also requested for the original police check to be sent to the department.

I posted the pcc and meanwhile received another email for the interview on the same day.

I am wondering any one else has the same experience ?

    Hi roland

Congratulation on your application. The turnaround from DIBP is very impressive. Please kindly post your timeline we can all get a clearer time frame and future updates. Cheers. James.

  10. Thanks James. Yes the council send me a formal invitation via email to which i replied confirming my attendance. I am allowed to bring three guests as well.

Invitation also stated that i have to reply within 15 Days otherwise they would put my name in the next ceremony.

Much appreciated Jimm. Did they also send you a formal invitation letter via postal mail?

  11. My wife was able to travel to NZ on Oz PR Visa and was grant NZ PR visa on arrival. I understand that once you have lived in NZ for two on PR visa, you can apply for Indefinite Resident Visa which will allow you to travel in and out of NZ freely without having to worry about your OZ PR Visa expiring. Just like Oz, NZ is a great place having lived there myself for 10 years. Good luck with your decision.

  12. Thanks! It was a normal application. Initially they gave me a date for 27Sept 2016 which was 3 months away, so I called them and re booked the appointment date to 27th June. Appointment went smoothly no issues with my documents, passed the test and received the approval letter in a week's time. City of Belmont received my details from Immigration 2 days after my approval letter ( I called them to check). I have received formal invitation to attend the ceremony :)a week after.

Congratulation Jimm. It is a pretty quick turnaround. Regarding your formal invitation to attend the ceremony, do you actually have to do anything (i.e., RSVP) to confirm your attendance? Cheers.

  14. Hello everyone. I am new to the forum and not very knowledgeable on Australian Citizenship. I hope you could give me some helpful insights into citizenship matters. I spoke to Citizenship line recently and was told that I would qualified to apply in June this year. My job requires me to travel overseas several times a year, each time ranging from one week to 6 weeks. Below are some facts to consider;

*Counting backward 4 years from June 2016, as of now I have been away from Australia totaling 300 Days.

*Counting backward 1 year from June 2016, as of now I have not been away at all.

*I have just received an assignment which requires me to be away for about 50 Days starting from mid April to early June, thus meaning I will back in Australia just 3 weeks before the day I am eligible to apply. If I was to take this assignment, can I still apply in June this year or I will have to wait?

*As I would get very close to the 12 months allowed to be away from the country over the last 4 years period counting from June 2016, does anyone know if traveling overseas during the gap period between being an approved applicant to citizenship ceremony would count toward the 12 months threshold? It is likely that I will have to take another trip while waiting for my ceremony.

Thank you in advance to your kind advice.
