    Passports.

That's what I thought would be the case, but some people, including on here, have said otherwise. Glad to hear from someone who has actually done it.

    Passports.

Ok I was born in UK but have lived here for 40+ years and am an Australian citizen. For family reasons I wish to return to live in UK. I would have to come back here in 3 or 4 years in order to claim the pension. I've been told that I would need to leave and return to Aust. on an Aust. passport, but that to get more than a 6 month visa I would have to enter UK on a UK passport. For time and financial reasons I can only afford to get 1 of the passports right now. Would it work if I were to enter the UK on my Aust.passport, then when I'd been in UK for a couple of months get a UK one and maybe hop over to France for the weekend and then re-enter UK on my UK passport? Bit convulated I know but I think it makes sense. Oh and another thing, would I be able initially to just use my ING Australian currency VISA card over there?

    Which Passport.

I was born in UK 1954, naturalised Aussie since 1977. If I return to live fulltime in UK am I better off with my Aussie passport, ot getting a UK one?
  4. Funny after being in Oz for 47 years the only thing I'm going to miss is my Dog. Not that I haven't enjoyed my time, but my only family is over there now.
  5. Thanks very much for that info. Only real reason for Plymouth is that my brother lives there and he's offered me a room. So I'm guessing that will save me 50 a week or so.
  6. Thanks for the info guys, looks like I'm stuffed
  7. I'm posting here because I seem to be getting confusing answers. I'm 62 I moved to Aust. in 1969 as a member of the old British Boys Movement. Through circumstance I now find myself broke and familyless (and friendless) and I'm seriously considering giving up and returning cap in hand to my family in the UK. My queries really are about surviving financially back there. I only ever worked in the UK for about 18 months before emigrating. Accomodation initially would be OK but I realise that would be a finite thing. I would probably live in Plymouth or the area around Aldershot. The main questions are, How difficult is it to find employment at my age. I would imagine something in the style of driving, courier or light truck or stores work. If I cannot find work, would I be able to get unemployment benefits? And what are the pension implications? Thanks in advance.
