Hi, I've been in Australia for coming up to a year (with my wife) and would describe the move so far as a success. We have fitted in well, love the lifestyle and live in a great area of Brisbane.

However, I have suffered from occasional mood swings and depressive/anxious thoughts which have impacted my enjoyment (particularly in the workplace). Whenever I feel this way I feel a strong sense of guilt at being so far away from my family. On certain occasions I have felt an impulse to return immediately back to the UK, but as soon as my mind clears up again believe this would be a decision I'd definitely regret.

I'd be interested if anyone else on here has experienced these feelings and how they coped with them over time. Part of me hopes that these phases will get easier to deal with as time moves along.

After many years of surpressing my anxious/depressive phases (I used to get them way prior to my move here) I have finally decided to see a psychologist.

    Regards

I suggest first check your overall health function - thyroid first of all. If health is OK, then such mood swings should be managed by psychologist.

May be also try to find what situations/thoughts usually trigger such mood swings, this may help you to avoid some traps. Most important don't forget you are not alone, there is plenty of help out there.

    They will be frozen.

I'm hoping that Labour opposes and that it won't go through, in it's current form at least.  If Labour opposes then the government will need the support of eight crossbenchers in the Senate.

I'm going to apply today and hope for the best.

Applications which are already submitted prior to 20th April will not be frozen

"The package of reforms will apply to applications received on or after the
    Government’s announcement on 20 April 2017".

Please tell us whether you were successful to apply

  3. Hi, my timeline

I tried to change citizenship test date online, however no slots are available before July.

Will it help to call them to try to change the test date? Can I ask to take the test in other location where they might have more availability?

  4. I have an autoimmune condition (Scleroderma) but I had it before I moved here. They are known to be triggered - or exacerbated - by stress, so maybe the stress of migrating had an influence on you and your daughter?

Possibly yes, I consider also environmental factors, change in food, change of lifestyle..

  5. Hello,

We immigrated to Australia from Germany 4 years ago.

After one year both my daughter and myself developed autoimmune disease(thyroid and liver).

I suspect that moving to Australia played trigger role in the disease development.

I also know other people who got autoimmune disease after coming to australia. I checked on internet there is no research done on it, i just wonder if someone else experienced similar problem after moving to Aussie.

  6. Hi, my daughter(11 y.o.) has two moles which needs to be removed.

We would like laser treatment only.

Should we go to dermatologist or we can go directly to any laser clinic?

Our insurance is private, no medicare

  7. Good Morning all,

I thought I would share some feedback I have had from my MA this morning. I have applied for both my nomination and visa back in March, and am currently in the process of getting my AFP and Canadian criminal record check, as well as my health assessment through BUPA completed. I have been trying to get all required documentation submitted so my file is "decision ready".

I noticed that many applicants have been requested to submit a form 80 and noticed that I have not completed this form so I asked my MA about it.

My MA advised that this form is rarely asked for these days and only applicants from certain countries or with criminal records are typically asked for this form. Could I ask if anyone from LR country with no criminal record has been asked to complete a form 80? I am from Canada and my record is clean, he is adamant that I do not need to complete this.

    Few points:

    1. There is no "Decision ready" process exception anymore(since 2013), so you will need to wait in general queue at least 6 month for your file to be opened by CO

    2. Yes it is advised to submit form 80. They may or may not need it, but you don't want your application will be delayed because they decided to request form 80 from you.

I am from LR, submitted form 80 upon my MA request.

  8. Same feeling as you. We paid lots of taxes for them, but they never work hard. The official web shows processing time is 6 month, but they usually open our files after 6 month, then we do not know how long it takes them to finalize the file again. We pay them taxes, they trade us as nothing. They never follow the timeline. They suppose to finalize documents within 6 month, otherwise they should change the website timeline to 8 month or whatever. I feel painful as we have been paying lots of taxes for this country.

I understand your frustration, but i suggest not to approach this matter from this position.

Taxes are paid for you to be in safe and clean country with normal roads and good school for your kids.

Immi work is also paid partially from this bucket, but those guys work very hard, trust me.

Recently Immi workforce was cut, I suspect they are severely understaffed, but you can do nothing with this(at least until you become citizen and can influence local politicians via elections/voting), But i suspect you will not bother once you will become citizen of Australia :)

  9. Sorry mates, i am here to express my feelings

In these two weeks, i have been so depressed and kept thinking why my application takes longer than other applicants....

should they think my application positive before asking the PPC and Medical?...its already 39 days upon i uploaded the additional docs.

And i keep checking my imm account every 15-30 mins..its really bothering my regular life.

My ma said better not to call the imm. office, but what i can do...

Btw, whats time period does imm. office would give us notice about visa status during the day? 9pm-5pm..which one goes faster ?

    Thanks all of you listening.....thanks....

I know what you feel as I recently being in same situation.

Just don't panic, don't do stupid things, don't do actually anything.

If you have any issues with your medical results you will see this in your immi account.

Otherwise just wait, your time will come.

  10. How do you guys know nomination is approved? Does it show on your immi login? Mine just says application received, im 21st sept as well. Hoping for good news this week

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

You can only see this from notification you recieve from MA. This will not appear on immi site.

  11. I have been calling him since monday. He sent me a msg today after that he is not in sydney. 

Btw can MA really do something ?

    nom and visa 07/09/15

    nsw

From my experience MAs are very reluctant to contact immi. Not saying that they have 0 power to influence immi timelines.

  12. guys, I have question

Can I apply for citizenship slightly before 4 years(3 years on visa 457 + 1 year on PR), to have actual ceremony right after 4 years? I see that it takes in average 2 month between application and ceremony dates, is it possible to apply when you 3 years 10 month in Australia?

  14. Just to get it straight, i have set 3 alerts on immi account one alerts me via email everytime i log in and other two are for password change and cant remeber the third but i cant see any 4th option which clearly states that alert will be sent once status changes. Are we both on the same page??

you may disable those alerts which you mentioned, I found them irritating rather than informative.

What you need is application status alert. You need to go to "application preferences"(left top corner), and choose "manage application alerts".

There you can choose the alert and email to which you want to be notified. This is all you need.
