  1. Hi there My parents have been granted the (Subclass 870) Sponsored Parent (Temporary) visa. I have a question are they allowed to bring their furniture in a container when they arrive? As in is there a rule saying that you cannot bring over your furniture on this type of visa? Hope its not a silly question They have been granted the 3 year visa. thanks P
  2. Hi there, Could someone please help me with my query. Once the subclass 870 visa is granted, how long do you have to enter Australia? What I mean is do your parents have to enter by a certain date? Regards Patrick
  3. Hi Can someone tell me how long it takes from door to door to ship a 20 foot container from Perth, Australia to South East London, UK. thanks Patrick
  4. Before Perth we lived in London for 15 years, i went to college and University in London and you wont believe it. Not once did i ever say... this weather is bad.. You wrap up warm and comfortable and feel fresh and alive and just get out. It was lovely coming back to a warm cosy home with the radiators on enjoying winter dishes. Cant wait to get back to the UK. Will be there beginning of April. Dont mind that stuff falling from the sky ! :-)
  5. Hi MissMissingEurope My advice would be to move while your kids are young, you have that advantage. We are also in Perth and moving back to UK in Nov after my daughter finishes her year 12. We have been in Perth 11 years and i tell you i don't know where the time has flown. My son is aged 13 and not keen to move back. Few years ago he was keen. We delayed our move so my daughter could finish her year 12. Everything gets harder as the kids get older, we now having to sort out secondary schools and universities. Good luck Patrick
  6. Hi everyone, We looking to go back to the UK (Kent) in June and my son who is in year 9 here in Australia will be going to secondary school in UK. We would like my son to start at year 9 in September 2018 in the UK. We feel he will struggle if he started as a Year 10 as he would have only done half of Year 9 before he heads back to UK. Does anyone have a sample email that they can send us when they wrote to schools asking if their son/daughter can go back a year….want to know how to word the emails to the school requesting the reasons why we want our son to go back a year? How flexible are the schools in the UK with allowing kids to go back a year? Thanks in advance Patrick
  7. We have been in Australia for 11 years and are planning to go back to UK in Nov 2018 after my daughter finishes year 12. I have really set my mind up on the move…until I read that you have to be in the country for 3 years to qualify for home university fees. My daughter will be starting uni next year. My son finishes year 9 this year, so if we went back to the UK he would be able to pay home fees in 3 years time. Has anyone been in a similar situation. Is the fess dependent on each uni? This has put our hopes down:-(
  8. Great to read other peoples feelings, its kind of reassuring :-) I was hoping to get some advice from you all. We are from London but have been in Perth for 11 years. We have many fiends here in Perth and we both have steady jobs. However we still miss UK terribly, we miss our families over there. We fee for our kids, not growing up with their cousins and grandparents. My wife and I were brought up with our cousins and family around us and we would like the same for our children. We don't have any family in Perth. We have never felt a belonging here and too be honest we enjoy the cooler weather in UK then the hot summers here. So many other reasons for wanting to go back to a place we know and grew up in. We now feel we would like to move back to UK as my daughter finishes her year 12 next year and my son will finish year 9 next year when he is 14. Our plan would be to go back in Nov next year after my daughter finishes school. My only concern is disruption for my son. Would it be a problem for him to join a school when we get back? Do i go over next year and try and get my son into school when the School year starts in September? Has anyone in this forum gone back to the UK with similar aged children. regards Patrick
