  1. Thanks for your reply. Yes they do. My partner was going to do his but hasn't bothered. Don't quote me but I'm sure he said its not needed or recognised over there so didn't see the point. He is going to get certified as a Registered Professional Engineer in Queensland (RPEQ) instead.
  2. My partner has a degree in Aerospace Engineering but has mostly been working as a systems engineer(not IT based) for defence companies for several years now. We have our 189 visa and due to leave the end of June to go to Brisbane. The problem we are finding is that most jobs require you to be a citizen to get clearance and lots of System jobs are IT based. Is Systems Engineering classed under different job titles? What companies could we contact that may have jobs in this field and that don't need clearance? If anyone has made the move in this line of work that could give us help or advice that would be great. Or any recruitment places we could contact. Thanks in Advance
  3. Hi all, We have had our 189 visa granted for our family, but my 19yr old has decided she hates college and wants to leave. We have now talked about moving over earlier than planned seen as visa was granted quicker than we thought it would, so she wouldn't get to finish her course anyway, if we did that. Can she leave college and find full time work now we have our grant? She would still be living at home, Or could this cause us a problem still. Do you have to make them aware of changes after grant is given until you move over??
  4. We received our EOI in July. We are now ready to apply for our visa but my Partner, the main applicant is 33 on 28th August which means we will lose 5 points going from 75 points to 70. If we apply and pay for our visa before his birthday will it be ok about the points or should we wait and get another invite after his birthday with just 70 points then submit the visa???
  5. Thank you for your replies When did you move to qld xxlornaxx?? Could the rules have changed?? From Simran Brar reply and i may have read it wrong, it sounds like she would have to be transfered back to a learner if she has not been past for a year when we move out there, which would mean more costs for test and lesson= double including what she would have paid here.
  6. We got our invite on the 20th so getting last documents for applying for 189 visa. I have asked before but its the thing worrying me most. My 19 year old daughters evidence of being dependant. She starts college again in September so will have her letter from them confirming full time education and that she lives with us. We have had to pay for this course so we will have a receipt for that and we paid for all her equipment and uniform. We have form 47a filled in. She works part time in Mc donalds doing about 24 hours a week. Will we need to prove she couldnt live off this amount of money? We have receipts for ordering her clothes online showing we paid with our card. We have a letter showing she is included on our child tax credits still. What other things will we need to provide? She is dependent on us but my head is working over drive with worry and so proving it seems difficult. Like will we need to show why she cant live with her real dad?? What she spends her money on if we pay for most things? Secondly what sort of things can we use for evidence of defacto relationship? Joint bank account, do we need one dated 12 mths ago and one dated now?? Same with household bills. Will screen shots of pictures of us together from facebook dated over the year be ok? Any help would be really appreciated, im a worry wort at the best of times. Thanks.
  7. We got our invite on the 20th and while getting paper work ready i had a thought about my eldest daughters driving. She is taking lessons, pasted her theory test already. Now i have read that you can drive on your uk licence for 3 months but is fairly easy to get it changed over. So can she just change it over or do you need a number of years experience on your licence since passing your test? We are hoping to go middle new year. Is she wasting her money still driving here if she cant drive over there because she not had her license long?? Thanks.
  8. Just listing it all. Will we then need paper evidence to support that?? So showing we paid for her course, equipment and bus ticket. How do we prove clothing, food and accommodation? College seem to think that because she was enrolled and excepted onto the course before she turned 19 we will still be entitled to child benefit for her so if that is the case would this letter help comfirm it?
  9. We are still waiting for my partners skills assessment to comeback but my eldest daughter has her induction day at her new college course doing a level 2 hairdressing today. Got me thinking about what we will need to show she is still dependant on us. She is 19 middle of July, still lives at home(obviously) has done a level 3 animal care course but has decided she wanted to do hairdressing. We have had to pay for this course, plus we will need to buy equipment for the course and her bus ticket. She has a part time job at Mc donalds doing roughly 3 x 8 hour shifts a week (although this could go up in summer holidays) So what sort of stuff will we need to prove she is still dependant on us and is this easy enough to do???
  10. So its will be 13 weeks this friday since we sent off partners skills assessment. Few weeks back we sent a blank message to them. It came back say skills dated 10th feb are with an assessing case officer. We tried to send another email few days ago to see where they are now for an idea of how quickly they are getting through them but we have had no reply at all. Is it a one off messaging thing you are allowed to do?? Really wishing we had paid more to fast track it now. Any help would really be appreciated.
  11. Has anyone recently had their skills assessed by Engineers Australia??? Just wondering how long they roughly take on average? My other half did his 6 wks ago today. Thanks.
  12. Thank you for you help. It has clarified what i thought. So if/when it reaches its ceiling can we still submit our EOI before July 1st so when the new list comes out if its still on there we should get an invitation??
  13. So my partner done his IELTS test and scored a 9, he has just submitted and paid for his skills assessment which i believe can take about 8 weeks. His occupation is on the sol list as Engineer technologist under other Engineering professionals. The list is at 913 of the 1000 ceiling number. He should have 65 points without any work experience although he will lose 5 points in August due to age. We were wanting to wait until our daughter finished her college course here in July next year before going anywhere. Wanting to go to Brisbane. Now it looks like the ceiling will be reached this year before we apply. When will the new years list start, as in 2016-2017? When could we submit our EOI? We also realise that next year his occupation may not even be on the list.
  14. She was torn with animal care and hair dressing when she left school. The college she is doing animal care at is the only college local to us that has an animal course and she is due to finish it in July. I think she would have enjoyed doing a grooming course if there was the chance here. For her to be able to get a visa with us she needs to still be dependant so she applied for hairdressing which is also something she enjoys. To be honest she is still young and this also gives her the chances to have something else under her belt for jobs, especially as we will be paying for the course. Everyone says to my daughter why do you want to do childcare the pay is low here too, she says ' its something i enjoy and makes me happy'
  15. Not sure if im posting this in the right place or not. My 2 daughters are at present in college one is 18 the other nearly 17, they are both a little worried about how things will be over in Australia regarding their qualifications and what they could do once out there. We are right at the beginning of the process but they would both like to go with us. We are hoping to go to Brisbane. So the 18 yr old is finishing her Animal Management BTEC level 3 Extended Diploma Course in July, She is then going to do level 2 Hairdressing at college so she is still in education for our visa application. Her ideal job would be working with Animals esp Elephants. Would her current course mean anything over there or what training would she need to do?? Next daughter is 17 in April and in her first year doing level 3 advanced diploma in childcare (early years Educator) This course will finish in July next year and we are hoping to have a 189 visa sorted to move over after she finishes. Will her course mean anything over there or will she need to do more courses/training? Is it worth us waiting for her to finish the course? Any advice or information would be great.
  16. Hi, we have just had this. I honestly thought we would end up in court. My ex hasnt seen his kids in 3-4 years, got re married and they found out through social media and not by him, he had moved and never told them and does everything he can to avoid paying csa for them. I wrote a letter told him our plans and that the kids are up for it. Mentioned how he could keep in contact if he wanted to even though he hasnt the past few years. I then told him if we hadnt had a response in 2 weeks we were going to set up mediation and if needed court which would cost in a emotions, time and money for us all. I pointed out that considering all of the above issue i think we stood a good chance of winning in court. The kids also wrote letters about why they would like to go. We then gave him some addresses of solicitor/notary offices near him and told him we would pay for a solicitor to witness him signing the form and have his driving licence notarised then all sent to us. Im hoping that will be all we need from him. We then posted making sure we had it signed for as proof of posting and receiving (wanted to cover every possibility ) To my surprise he messaged to say he got the letter that day and would sort out using one of the solicitors we gave him. He booked appointment friday and signed. Its now in the post back to us. So glad we dont need to go down the court route but i have to say its a strange mix of feelings, i feel so upset and angry that someone could sign something like that for their children so easily and quickly. I hope you get it sorted and hopefully will be as easy as it can be.
  17. Thank you for your reply and sorry its taken a while to reply. We have spoken to a few solicitor local to him and not sure if we need a notary or if just a solicitor certifiing his passport copy and to say he witnessed him signing the form will be enough. From reading other people seem to have just asked them to sign the form, but i would just like to cover ourselfs a bit. Dont want him saying later down the line we forced him to sign it or he didnt fully realise what he was signing, however Notary is £50 more and may not even be needed. To be honest though im clutching at straws at the moment that he will even sign it, i have no idea how that blokes mind even works! But if he wont we will then cross that bridge.
  18. So now that we have finally got my ex husbands new address, we have written a letter asking him if he will sign the form (1229) It says he will need a certified copy of his passport, drivers licence or birth certificate. If he is willing to sign would it be best if we get a solicitor/notary near him to witness him signing the form as well as to certify his personal document copies? Is that all we need to do if he is in agreement?? Im fully preparing myself for him not to agree and making sure we have lots of evidence and sending the letter sign for as proof. Also how long is a reasonable amount of time to give him to reply before we go ahead with mediation/court?
  19. Thank you all for your replies. My partner has spoke to a John Mumford and we are thinking about using him. Charlottehill76 what were you told regarding proof that you 19yr old is dependant, if you dont mind me asking? Our daughter is 19 in July and her level 3 course is due to finish in july so looks like we are going to have to pay for her to do another year course. Good luck with your visa.
  20. Hi again, We have spoken to a fair few agents now looking for the right agent to help us. My partner spoke to a John Mumford at visa unit last night and was very impressed. We had a little search for some reviews on him, as we have all the others and we found a fair few good reviews and no bad BUT they were all early 2002-2008 time and no recent ones. Has anyone used him recently??? We are still waiting to hear back from some other agent but my partner said he sounds the best so far.
  21. We have spoken to a few agents now and some have been more helpful than others but also found the difference is advice, price and information is large. We think our case could be a little complicated due to a 18yr old included, getting the ok from ex for 3 children and getting the points for my partners work experience. A few we have spoken to are: Getme2oz Visa Bureau Visa connect One has quoted our medicals as double the price, each person compared to one of the others, is this normal? Could we sort medicals ourselves but still use a agent? We really don't want to make a costly mistake when picking an agent, money and no visa granted wise. Some recommendations from people would be great.
  22. Thank you for your help. I will have a look through threads later. So will he not need anyone to witness him signing? We havent moved forward with anything else yet as figured we needed to get his permission first especially as it could hold everything up. We have spoken to a few agents and they said we needed permission, one even said for our 18year old, (surprised at how much they differ in advice actually for lots of things) figured it wont hurt getting him to agree to saying all 4 can go even if we dont need it for older ones. Cant hurt. Our 18yr old is in full time education and although has a part time job she would not be able to afford to not be a dependant and we pay for everything including her bus ticket to get her to college and work.
  23. Hi, i have a couple of questions. Hoping maybe someone having some experience could comment. 1. Has anyone emigrated with a large family? 2. Can i still get csa from my ex once in Australia? 3. I need to write a letter to my ex asking him if he will agree to letting me and my partner of 8.5yrs to take 4 children 18, 16,14,13yr olds to australia. If he wont allow it we will take it to court. Little background info, ex agreed to us moving to hampshire 5 yrs ago even though he was still apart of kids life. He has now not seen them, phoned or bothered with birthdays and christmas for about 3.5 yrs. He tries everything to get out of paying csa and owes a lot in arrears, when we find his new job it has to be debucted from earnings. He got married recently and kids only found out through social media and other people. All kids want to go to Australia. Im not sure how to write a letter to him though, we will take it to court if he says no but can i say that without it sounding like a threat? Kids want to write him a letter to saying how they want to go, but unsure if this is a good idea or not. Should we give him a date to reply by before heading down court road and if he agrees will he need to have a witness sign also? Thanks
  24. Thank you for your reply. Am I ok to ask for peoples recommendations of agents they have successfully used especially with more complicated cases?
  25. This is my first post so please be gentle We are looking to move out to Australia on a Skilled Visa, potentially a 189 based on my partner’s work. He has a BEng (Hons) degree in Aerospace Engineering (included in Aeronautical Engineering skill on SOL list) and naturally for all skilled visas, he will need to have his qualifications assessed. It looks like he will need a CDR, as he has done no further education to go the Washington Accord list. He is concerned that he hasn’t got enough experience in the field, as we are unsure whether the roles he has done in the past count as being relevant. Looking at the SOL list, each of his previous roles are listed, but possibly not enough experience for one (and as the degree is in Aerospace, Aeronautical Engineering is probably the best). Developer Programmer (261312) Initial year at Pharmaceutical Company, and another role for a later 8 months (total 20 months). Quality control based involving automation…involving programming to ensure efficiency Aeronautical Engineer (233911) Work on Uni Placement for 10 months Aerospace Design work. design and manufacture of parts for an aircraft. However, he suspects this doesn’t count as it was degree sandwich year Work at Major Defence Contractor on Helicopter Systems (25 months) Aerospace Design. Design and certification of Parts and whole aircraft. Systems Analyst (26112) Work at Major Defence Contractor on Royal Mail project (31 months) This doesn’t involve aircraft, so doesn’t fit into Aerospace…although it follows the same Design, Build, Test, Deploy, Operations V cycle as Aerospace does (but much faster)…this is typical of Systems Analyst work when it is with computers. The lack of an IT based degree (needs to be a third of all modules according to qualifying body) means 3 years’ experience required. Transport Engineer (233215) Work at Major Defence Contractor for currently 6 months This is not the design of aircraft or aircraft systems, but is a transport design programme, hence not in Aerospace bracket. Again, it follows the same Design, Build, Test, Deploy, Operations V cycle as Aerospace does. However, this is also heavily based on IT systems…so may fit into the Systems Analyst role…but this is subjective. Has anyone got any advice, or whether they count as relevant to each other? He says they all follow the same V cycle, whatever that means…J
