Also without being right in Sydney where are there family-friendly Suburbs which isn't to overly expensive to rent? Looking for 3bed house in good suburb with good schools also and lots to do around. If anyone could give me some advice be great x Laura
  2. Hello Fellow Poms, I just wondered how easy is it to obtain a mortgage in Queensland/ Oz? We are currently saving for a deposit for a house I have read it is only 10% needed in Oz not sure how true this is? Has anyone been through the process, I read you can apply for a home loan how will you provide credit rate history? and do you need show in full time employment etc is there anything else needed? Thank you... Laura x

  4. Hey, we are south we live right by Heathrow Airport, Staines upon Thames! you may remember Ali G the movie ha-ha..! I refer to that as we could go anywhere in the world and say Staines oh yes Ali G was a few years back mind now.. Wow so you have travelled around then defiantly agree you have one life so why exist that's what we do here plod plod plod along, we are very outdoor family too and feel restricted here its too cold and expensive I love nothing more then just be able to walk to the beach and have new activities and get the children out as much as I can.. Yes I am 27 soon be 28 and my husband is 30 we just feel its the right time for us to go, we never been before we have friends in Perth. Again they have 2young kids and they would never look back their children are thriving, there all doing really well. I know the journey will be tough but rewarding and worth it, we can't wait. Ok yes go Matilda I can't fault them in constant contact have you spoken to them yet? My Husband is in process of getting his skills assessment booked were he will show his Skills and become TRA (Trade Recognition Australia) The paperwork side of things are you self employed I needed 3 years worth of bank statements (certified by the bank) if you go in they will stamp for you, I got him 3 work references, 20 pictures of him working and his work, T CV, letter from HMRC to show the years he has paid tax, copy of passport, 2 x passport photos certified by a solicitor, that's all for now but if you start getting all prepared will speed up the process for you! Will you be going for 189 visa? If so have look at the ILETS English test as you need points for your Visa.. Yes we have heard the commute to Brisbane wasn't good and was looking around Areas North Lakes and Mango Hill distance get to Brisbane etc does your partner work? I work in accounts and my wage would double even on part time which i am really pleased about! I cant wait we looking at getting there for early 2017!

We have a boy Who is 7 and a little girl who is 3years cant wait were so excited but understand will be hard work, does your partner work? If you download the app SEEK there are a lot of jobs on there for carpenters so you get an idea for wages..

  7. Hey we have the choice of moving to Perth or Brisbane. We are a young family my husband a chippy two children ages 7 and 3 I have read so much info but like to hear from people who live in either cities..Where best to settle and riase family, schools, cost living?
  8. I do see the rents seem cheaper north lakes/ mango hill way? where abouts in the Uk are you from? we have such a mix bag of emotions I think it down just to the unknown I want the children to go to a good school with plenty to do of weekend I feel were rescrited by weather here in UK. we quite an outdoor family we have a boat and in summer we take the children out camping etc. How far is Buderim from the gold coast/ sunshine coast? Not really London we are right by Heathrow airport. What are yours and your husband's trade if you don't mind me asking? Be nice that you have family there also ;-)
  9. thank you for your replies ;-) my husband commutes every day to London early riser leaves at 5am so pretty much used to it. But we shall see when we arrive I did look at north lakes and cheap rentals but more townhouses and read there a bit issue with mozzies in summer months? really like look of buderim and what has offer so properly where we will head...
  10. Hey Petrina, thank you for reply lovely speak someone who lives in Buderim, very interested about the school! My boy is quite sporty and creative how do the schools differ from the uk? My husband leaves here at 5am too for work so pretty used to he is a carpenter but jack of all trades and can pretty much take his hands to anything so hoping be ok securing a job, I work admin/ accounts put willing to try anything part time within school hours, where abuts in the UK were you from my husband has skills assessment booked so that is next step for us. Are you quite close to sunshine coast what activities do you do of weekend and for the children? if you don't mind me asking my son is really into rugby plays London Irish here and my little girl loves dancing and horses..
  11. thank you so much for quick reply are the 3 suburbs you mentioned good for young families my children are 7 and 3? that's sounds very early to do every day, I will look at the 3 suburbs now how do you find living in Brisbane? we currently live near heathrow Uk we are excited but very nervous of the unknown..
  12. Hi We are currently going down the Visa process have never been to Oz before we are a young family at first we was thinking of heading to Perth but have read it is quite isolated and expensive. We are now looking at emigrating to Queensland near the sunshine coast. my husband is a carpenter understand the commute is about an hour to Brisbane. Where there is lot of jobs.. We was looking at a suburb called Buderim does anyone live there what is it like for schools, rentals, general living crime etc?? We in two minds maybe to come here or venture abit closer to Brisbane? Not sure if anyone could give me any advise be great..
  13. to be honest that's where my experience is but i am free to try anything! I also have my own business here as a princess party entertainer!! so maybe could print some cards and bring it out to oz, hand out to the school mums I meet ;-) but that will be on the side. I just need apply for something that suits school hours had a look on seek and there quite a lot part time/ flexible jobs etc we are going to save save save here so we are financially secure my husband is a carpenter by trade do any you know what the industry is like for tradies at the mo he is a jack of all trades fits bathrooms, kitchens etc we also have friends out there who could get him jobs within the mines but I don't know if we want him go off 3 weeks at time whilst we adjust and settle into new life. We have been looking at safety bay and secret harbour south wise or Duncraig/ Padbury nor? I suppose it will come down to when we get there as we be staying friends to begin to explore and deicide where we want to settle...
  14. Hi, Thank you all for getting back to me ;-) my husband is a carpenter and I work within accounts/ admin but am willing to try whatever comes my way and flexiable around my kids etc. Renting wise looking for a 3bedroom and yes prefrebbly with a pool as we have two water babies! love be close to the beach etc my son plays rugby he loves it my little girl sings and dances haha typical girl, I love find good school for them and take into account be close perth city as this is where the jobs are? I understand cheaper to rent in the south etc? but north is closer to CDB? So maybe for us we should head NOR? so we closer opportunites I don't really fancy a really long commute to work from SOU as I have school runs to consider.. so a good surburb in NOR close to the beach, family friendly rent not sky high and manageable..
  15. hi KOL, yes he is into rugby he plays for London Irish here..
  16. Hi, Looking to come over to Perth family of four two children 7 and 3 years just wondered what suburb you are from trying get some info as were taking the plunge and not coming over beforehand so if anyone could take time out to let me know about the surburb you live in and how you find it? be very much appreciated xx
  17. Hey all!! So excited as we now have the ball rolling and our visa process has started.. we are working alongside go Matilda and our skills assessment is booked for next month. My husband is a carpenter 13years experience and I work in accounts ;-) anyways weare looking come to Perth I have been looking at rentals both NOR and SOU I understand SOU is near to the beach etc whereas NOR is closer to city etc. We are still in two minds were to start off my head is saying SOU as I am seeing a lot of family friendly suburbs etc safety bay, secret harbour and rentals being reasonable priced. A big factor for me is for the children to go to a good school where they will have plenty opportunities to grow as people in subjects they excel in no necessarily academic my boy is very sporty loves fishing and art. The school they go to here is overcrowded and poor for me the school and opportunities for them would be a major factor where we settle so if any you could give me advice on the suburb you live in and what's it like etc NOR or SOU be very much appreciated My boy is 7 and my little girl is 3, thanks everyone ;-)
