  1. Good Day everyone, Occupation: Construction Project Manager ANZSCO code 133111 Vetassess Requirement: "...If the qualification(s) are not at the required educational level, ... then the employment will be assessed below the required skill level." Question: As per above statement, does it mean that the outcome of the assessment will be negative is the field of education is not relevant, although experience is highly relevant? Education: Bachelor's Degree in Physics Experience: 8 years as Construction Project Manager (3-years Employed + 5-Years Self Employed) Kindly advise. Regards
  2. CaptainC, CaptainR, I got an assessment letter for Watchkeeper Deck, indicating eligibility to sit for oral and medical exams at AMSA. I have been assigned a Seafarer ID. Do I simply call the appropriate exam centre by telephone and book the exam ? Or do I need anything else to do before that?
  3. CaptainC, Well understood. However, just wanted to clarify if I could use the remaining validity of my Indian CoC and appear for AmSA Orals in Feb2016. But it seems as it would not be a good idea to sit for orals in Feb while my CoC expires in Apr.
  4. CaptainC, CaptainR, Good Day, I have received a letter of Assessment from AMSA which states that - I need to appear for AMSA Oral Exams in Australia - Medical Exam in Aus It states (which is my concern): - Seafarers with CoC expiring after 31/12/2016 should provide evidence of continued competence refresher course for Advanced Fire Fighting and proficiency in surviv craft. I received this letter on 11/11/2015 My Indian CoC (stcw95) was issued on 10/June/2011 And it expires on 17/Apr/2016. My Indian GMDSS is valid until Year 2021 and Indian Endorsement for GMDSS is valid until 11/July/2016 My query to you: 1. I will be able to appear for these medical and oral exams in Australia not before Feb 2016. Will that be a problem keeping in mind the expiry date of my CoC, the STCW 95 and/or 2010 Requirements, and continued competence? 2. If it is safe and accepted to appear for exams in Feb 2016, when should I book the exams? Your guidance will be much appreciated, Thanks
  5. I'm a little bit in a hurry. No worries for the costs. Just to highlight.. Does that mean I'll have to obtain a CoR for Mates ticket for the purpose of my Visa?
  6. CaptainC, One more query. My Indian 2nd Mate FG CoC expires in April 2016. Currently AMSA has asked me to provide further sea-time to fulfil 36months min criteria, which I will complete by next month, and dispatch company letter and Ship's statement of sea service next month while still being onboard. My question to you is, should there be a delay beyond April 2016 for my skill assessment or Visa application/grant, and my CoC expires, will that be a problem? I'm not going to renew/revalidate my 2nd mate coc because I'm halfway through for Chief Mate Coc from India. Please advise.
  7. In the company letter, is it okay to mention after listing the ships and the seatimes obtained therein, a sentence which states something like: *All the ships listed above are fitted with a Full GMDSS set and applicant has operated it on a regular basis as part of his duties onboard.
  8. Thanks CaptainC Will check and revert if anything unclear.
  9. Good Day Captains and fellow Officers, I am holding a 2nd Mate FG Unlimited from India. Applied for Skill Assessment 6 months back to AMSA. Provided 25m sea time docs. AMSA has asked me to provide more sea-time to fulfil 36months qualifying sea-time. I will forward to them the remaining sea time soon, as I am currently onboard and will fulfil the qualifying sea-time next month. When will they invite me for CoR Orals? Is a 2nd Mate AMSA CoR Orals difficult as in the level of difficulty of Indian Orals? Pls advise on AMSA CoR orals for 2nd mate. Thanks, Akeel
