  1. Hi Please refer to the residency requirements in DIBP Website , The time on board may not be counted ,but if you are employed in a company as a ships crew for more than 2 years , your time in australia needs to be be only 16 months as opposed to resident for the last 4 years prior making citizenship application .This is approximate please refer DIBP for exact details. Cheers
  2. Thanks Capt R , These currently arent recruiting ,but will keep it in mind for the future. I think MMA offshore has filed for bankruptcy ,tough times in offshore oil.
  3. Hi capt R , Any suggestions for the offshore links in Perth, been here for a while working in alternate jobs. Cheers
  4. Hi, I have kept my eoi status suspended till recently for some reasons and am ready to unsuspend again , would anyone be knowing if unsuspending means effective date of eoi will remain the original one or the unsuspend date (no changes in eoi details ) cheers
  5. ah then i guess i will just claim the 5 points then , i still make 60 with less than 5 years experience which hopefully is good enough for a invite and even if they decide to beat me down to my bare seatime only i should have at least 3 years and will not have to go through the whole thing again as being pushed down by not being able to verify the points claimed .
  6. one of the companies closed down and in the other a real prick is in charge of this stuff now. I think i will just not claim the months in these two companies in the eoi .i still get 5.5 years getting my 10 points without these 2 and can justify all these 5.5 years with letters and discharge book entries . hope its ok that way.
  7. Hi In filing for the EOI ,I presume we claim experience only for those work periods supported by Company letters and if there are periods that we are unable to obtain company letter for ,would that be an issue even if we dont claim the work time for that ? Also , the periods we enter are from the sign on of the first ship in that company to the sign off of the last ship in that company , the whole period being counted as employment ? AMSA has judged me for 7 years but the letters will cover me for about 5.5 still claiming the same points for experience . I hope this is not an issue. Does anyone have any experiences in regard to these issues . The Migration lawyer keeps harping on about 20 hours a week paid employment and entering all my ships seatime individually ? real hassle trying to get through to him. should have done it myself .nobody understands the shipping profession. Thanks
  8. Hello again Can i subit an EOI before actually recieving the skills assessment letter from AMSA ? thanks
  9. Passed my Orals at perth today . will send over the questions soon. captc and captr ,grateful some things in life are priceless, now to hang around for the paper work god knows how long thats gonna take. cheers
  10. Hi, You will be having contact details of different amsa centers on their site. pick the one you want ,call them , they might take down your request or ask you to mail them on a specific orals booking mail id. 2-3 days and they will mail you back with an available date as per the window you have given . fill in and print out the amsa 419 and hand it to them before the orals. medicals call up their toll free number from medibank book it a day or 2 days before your amsa orals date . (you need to wait on hold for a long time before you are put through. good luck
  11. hello, Could you please upload in the dropbox a copy of an actual work expereince letter that has already met amsa/dibp guidelines. cheers
  12. 1. Are we in EOI invitation queue only with other marine transport guys or is it a general queue ? 2. I guess those who filed ahead of you in terms of date and those who have more points will get invited first .
  13. Hi, I came up with a new issue. Tried contacting the amsa fremantle office by phone . was told that booking had to be done by email, freoexaminer@amsa.gov.au , been 3 days since havent been any response since i sent the mail . and they are adamant that bookings not accepted over phone when tried asking ? any ideas ? is it very hard to get a date at the fremantle centre (huge waiting time etc) or have i just got the email address wrong ( tough to decipher the aussie accent ). ????i think i cant proceed with the visa booking without settling the orals/medicals date .
  14. Hi, I just got an initial assessment done and a letter to go with it . bit confused about the form 419 ,having filled it the instructions on it say to post it all over again for orals assessment and i thought i had already got the assessment done . or do we just use the initial assessment letter contact amsa and book orals?how does it work ? cheers
  15. Hello , Could anyone upload in the dropbox a sample copy of a letter that meets both amsa and dibp requirements that has already been cleared by both depts (i meant successful applications). cheers
  16. Hello, Thank you for your quick replies . I was wondering if someone can upload a copy of a letter that was actually used (fulfilling both dibp and amsa criteria )in the dropbox so as i can use the format to go about preparing them . Cheers
  17. Hi, got another query . 1)My migration lawyer claims that irrespective of amsa letter stating years of experience ,the dibp will go through the whole thing again and judge the work experience once more taking the amsa letter as only a guidance . 2)Please from anybodys experience particularly those who filed eoi themselves , what is the take on this(i always thought that dibp were not having the understanding of this profession enough to judge it themselves and would rely on AMSA judgement .) 3)Do we need to submit all the seatime letters and discharge book entries one more time online or do they require more paperwork as evidence when filing for EOI . Cheers
  18. Hello Guys , Great work with your guidance, I just came across class 189 by chance 10 days back and AMSA is now processing my application , just worried about the work experience though need no more than 3 years on that , I have seatime a month or 2 less than 3 years in the last 10 years as i have been to college in the middle and sailing only 4 months a year as a mate dpo . Is it AMSA that certifies your seatime and to be fair i hope it covers the entire on/off period though mine is a little inconsistent as a freelancer. clear on ielts 8.0 and other stuff . cheers
