  1. As Marine jobs in SOL are flagged now and they will be removed in near future, I need to know what is exactly "near future" means. Does it mean that it will be removed in next SOL update (june 2017) or it might be removed during 2016?Cheers
  2. Good day mates, I have applied for SUBCLASS 489(Sponsored by family member) to work and live in Australia for four years. After that I would apply for PR through SUBCLASS 887 , there is a requirement to get PR and that is to work for one year in designated areas. As I am currently working in a shipping company outside of Australia I wonder if there is any proviso in this regard for mariners exempting this requirement for them?
  3. I have consulted your good materials and Oral questions and it helped me a lot, it is very nice of you for mentioning them. I have Master certificate of competency but never sailed as Master before. It would be my honor to receive last advice on Master oral exam from you.
  4. The penny is dropped LOL That is a good news. Thanks CaptainC.
  5. Wow I am also surprised LOL , In Boarder site I found this to be eligible for citizenship. I wonder someone who is seafarer and working abroad how can be eligible, because you should not be out of Australia more than 3 month in a year. Maybe thats why we need to work on RAVs only with Australian flags! General residence requirement Permanent residents must: •have been living in Australia on a valid Australian visa for4years immediately before applying which must include the last 12 months as a permanent resident, and •not have been absent from Australia for more than one year in the past 4 years, including no more than 90 days in the year before applying.
  6. Thank you again for your polite reply for the second time.
  7. Dear CaptainR, you answered all questions in my mind and I really appreciate your kindness. The reason that I'm here is to investigate the real situation before moving and prepare myself for the worst one. Dear CaptainC, thanks for the reply again. FYI I am searching lots of things in lots of sites including IMMI, AMSA..etc. I don't really remember which one was saying the requirement of working on RAVs but one thing that I am sure of is that the basis of skilled independent PR is to provide qualification and work experience relevant to it and also to work in that field after moving to australia so you can't work in Mcs or Starbucks as you mentioned before. Ofcourse you can have your PR in that situation but for getting citizenship you will be in trouble.
  8. Dear CaptainR, Thanks for your reply. Still it is not understandable why Australia is granting visa to mariners (officers/masters/engineers) they could have simply grant the visa to DPOs or any skills which are in demand. I got the reply from AMSA and they couldn't help I need to ask Immigration office in this regard. I beleave immigration rules have been change alot recently and we have to seek the updated information. Anyways does any one knows crewing agancy within australia? I need to have a feedback from them regarding job vacancies.
  9. My assessment letter just mentioned that I need to do Oral exam and Medicals. My exam will be on 15th Sep. In Brisbane. I just wrote an email to AMSA and asking for clarification in this regard. As you are from UK that maybe different case. I really don't know. I will let you know when I get reply from AMSA.
  10. My brother moved to Aystralia 9 years ago. After 4years of his staying his citizenship case assessed by court. Major point to achieve citizenship was working in australia for 4years and paying taxes... he is not a mariner he also applied for skilled independent PR. In our case we have to work on RAVs to be a benefit for Australian government otherwise what is the point for them to let us in with skilled visa? Or maybe they love foreign mariners!!??
  11. Dear Captain C working on RAVs is a must to get Australian citizenship after 4years. If you didn't work for an Australian company and you were not beneficial for Australian government they won't accept you as a citizen. This is the case for all immigrants. It is also mentioned in my assessment letter sent by AMSA.
  12. Dear Capt.C, Thanks for reply. If I can work on non-RAVs why I need AMSA CoR? Why they grant visas for seafarers? And actually they do it fast. You can tell from other seafarers visa process most of them recieved their visa less than 6 months. If seafarers inside australia can't get jobs why they let us enter in such a down market?
  13. Hi Guys, I am planning to move to Australia and I booked an oral exam. I need some feed backs and information regarding salaries and job vacancies for an experienced Chief Officer in container ships. As I know after granting PR visa I need to work on RAVs (regulated Australian vessels). What are the companies and salaries they are providing. Cheers
