  1. Hey Wes I have just joined Global Migrate, but I have heard that the Down Under Centre is really good...I do wish I had known this before I signed an agreement as I have actually had some issued with GM. Good luck with it all!
  2. Congratulations on getting your visa Dorestbrit!! I'm going to have to travel over when I can to register, I am hoping end of Nov/ beginning of December so fingers crossed for us! Could I ask how long you waited to receive your granted visa? I only have 2 years work experience so I feel really unsure if we will get an invite... I have signed up to a company and have an agent. Could I ask who you went with? I have gone with Global Migrate. Upon extra info I have been given on here, it appears I should have gone with the down under centre, but I am contracted to them now as I have signed the agreement, so I really have no choice. Yes my family have been quite forth coming to say the least, and yes, I have had nothing else on my mind since we decided to begin this journey! Good Luck with your move down under, I can't imagine being at that stage yet, but all fingers crossed we will get there!
  3. Thank you for all your responses. We are really unsure if we want to go for 2- 3 years or stay longer... We really can't say until we give it a go and see what Australia offers us. All we know is that we want to go to try it out and if it doesn't work, we can say we tried! Ah ok, so quite like the UK then in the way schooling works. (Some books/equipment etc). I have just heard back from APHRA that it will take approximately 3 months yet to be invited to register, so I am looking at 6 months before I can travel (you have 3 months after they invite you to register to present in person in Aus). After that comes the skills assessment, which I am hoping to begin soon as we have 12 months then to upload documents etc...(English test), and then I can put in an EOI. I'm hoping by then and knowing points for sure etc that we will know to go for a 190 or a regional 491...
  4. Thank you for your replies. I was meaning I hope to move to Aus either before my son reaches year 9, or throughout year 9 (When he is age 13 and a half). We are looking at around 18 months before we get there after the application, invitation, etc and savings. We are aiming for approximately Nov 2021 -Feb 2022 (ish, and depending on visas etc). We are probably going to go for the 190 state sponsered or the 491 regional sponsered visa. The TSS visa does seem more applicable to me, I understand that, but I have worked out that financially we may be better off going for PR as can stay as long as we want on this and the cost of school is covered, as opposed to paying 5-6 AUD per year (2.5/3000 pounds). The cost of the 190 visa seems to balance out when you look at the yearly cost of school.
  5. I have now got a caseworker but just wanted some extra advice as she is leaving it up to me to go for a 190, a 491 or a TSS 482 and I feel there are pros and cons to all so feel confused!!
  6. Ahh, ok. Thank you. Thought it was worth an ask!
  7. I know that. Apologies if I came across abrupt. I just feel very passionate regarding some things that I cannot post on here!
  8. Does anyone know if a qualification but not yet any work experience counts towards points? (My partner is looking into plastering courses) -I'm a Registered Nurse. (Mental Health). Thank you
  9. Also to add, I had my dad in another country all my life. I actually loved it. I got to visit every year. My son isn’t very close to his dad. He sees him maybe 1 hour a week to nip to McDonald’s. We are not staying in the UK to keep that going when 95% of the time, my som hasn’t much interest in doing that anyway.
  10. My post isn’t about my sons relationship with his dad. My son has been to Australia. He did the 22 hour flight and he loved it. We would be going for 2-3 years and he wants to do that. I know my sons relationship with his dad, and it’s not a problem for him to go to Australia. He wants to. His dad is well and truly on board. He hasn’t plans for the future with his own family to move out there and has family there also. Im not sure when I said he’d be coming back to the UK alone. We’d be coming back also to visit family.
  11. Yes, he will. He has agree to this when and if that time comes.
  12. 'It is better to try and it not work out than to not try and regret'....
  13. Does anyone know if 70 points is enough for a skilled visa subclass 190? I have been told by one agent this is low points score and I have very little chance, and that no one has been invited with 70 points since 207, and I have been told by another that people have been invited on 70 points in March this year and it is very possible... Would just like to know if I am going for the right visa. I understand a TSS 432 visa may be better financially for me, and would secure me a job, but I will have a year from when my visa is granted (if) to find a job with a 190 and not be tied to one specific job.
  14. Hey, no, but I have spoken to my sons dad about this and asked his permission, which he has given. My son curently sees his dad once a week, so we have worked out that he would probably see him more if he was to come back and stay in the 6 weeks holidays for 3 weeks.
  15. Thank you for your reply. I do think the TSS visa seems better for me to go for, my only worry with this is that I will be tied to the same job for the 2-3 years, and I have also been told from my agent that with the TSS visa I am entitled to pay school fees, wheras with the PR it is included, as is medicare. Is this not the case with the 482 do you know? Thanks again for your advice.
  16. Hey I am just looking for some clarification with a few things that I am struggling to find a straight answer to! Firstly, myself, partner (not married but living together) and my son, age 12 are wanting to move to Australia for approx 2/3 years. I am a Mental Health Nurse and am 33 (34 in November). I have almost 2 years work experience since qualifying. I have been told my options are a TSS sponsered work visa subclass 482, or a permanent residency visa subclass 190. My total points are 65 and with a state sponser I can get another 5, making it up to 70. I don't mind what part of Australia we go to at this stage, we are quite open to anywhere, but did have a preference for QLD. I have just learnt that for QLD 5 years work experience is needed, and by then my son will be 15 and going through his GCSE's which means I cannot take him away and out of school. I have quite a narrow window to make this move for my son and his age, as i'd like to settle him into a schoo justl before year 9 or throughout year 9 ideally. (From Sept 2021). I have read that 70 points quite low, and my partner is not on the skilled list, is this correct? Do I have a chance of getting in on a 190 visa with 2 years work experience and 70 points? Or would I be best going for a TSS sponsered visa where I need minimum 2 years experience, and will have to get a sponser before I apply for the visa? We have thought about my partner doing a plastering course this is something she has always said she would enjoy. She is currently a senior health care assistant, so a bit of a career change, but she seems to be quite interested in becoming a plasterer! My only question on this is, if she was to do a short course and gain a qualification in plastering, is this definitely on the skills shortage list for Australia, and would her qualification add points without any or much work experience? I have been told by one migration agent that with 70 points I have a good chance of getting invited, and by another that I would not have much chance with only 70 points. Thank you for any help you can give me...

    APHRA/ANMAC

Thank you. I have since found out that I will need to visit Australia to obtain my pin so I have decided to ask APHRA if they can put my application on hold for now, as that is not an option for me in the next 3 months. I have decided to go ahead with the ANMAC skills assessment, but my migration case worker seems quite clueless about the next steps (I'm applying for a refund and to cancel). Do you know what assessment I will need to do without APHRA? The visa I am applying for is the 190. There are 3 different exams to do and I am unsure if it's the academic or general one I need to book in for (Looking at Septemeber to do this as long as everything is ok with the current situation).

    APHRA/ANMAC

Hello I am so confused right now and just wondering if anyone can shed some light for me! I have been informed my first step in the visa process is to apply for registration with APHRA. I have paid and proceeded to build a profile and am now waiting to hear if I can go ahead an 'apply'. (I am a qualified Mental Health Nurse). I was informed that registration was needed before a skills assessment, and that skills assessment is the second step in the process. I have just been having a look online reading about ANMAC skills assessment, and it states on the website that as long as you have registration in the UK (Which I do), that you can begin a skills assessment. Does anyone know if this is right? Thank you in advance

    APHRA

Hi Just wondering if anyone knows how much is costs for the APHRA registration? For some reason I cannot see this on the website! Thank you in advance
  20. Hi I am wondering if anyone has used the company Global Migrate to help with their visa application? Today I had a consultation and we have decided to begin the application process. Thank you in advance for any information!
  21. Hey. This is my first time back on here since my first post in 2015! Since then myself, partner and son came to visit Australia (Sydney and the Gold Coast) and decided we really want to move out there for a couple of years. We don't want to do it permenantly as yet as we have family here that I just can't leave for that lomg, so for now as we are only renting here and my son is 12, we want that adventure of a life time. I am a qualified Mental Health Nurse of 2 years almost, and my partner is a Health care Assisitant and has had 8 years experience in her field. My son is currently in year 7 at high school and is 12. We loved the Aussie way of life, the slower paced, more relaxed, chilled out vibe, and we would like jobs over there and to rent a place for up to 2 years maximum. My son Oliver is a very outdoors, active child and it seems his friends round here are all the opposite... I understand this is the case with a lot of children this age in Aus to, but during our visit there were so many more children his age skating, biking, swimming... I want that opportunity for him. He doesnt enjoy school much and has yet to make any real friendships that last. We have a very small family here of myself (33), Oliver, my mum and step dad , age 54 (who Oliver is very close to) and most importantly to us, my nana (age 84 almost). She has been like a mum to me and adores Oliver. This is the main reason why I could not move over forever at this stage. I feel it would'nt be fair. I have lived my life trying to please everyone and not 'rock the boat' as such, and this is a dream that won't seem to go away, and I at least want to say we have tried. My partner is 32 and although her job is not on the skills list, I have been advised that she could still come with my points/occupation as a nurse. I am wondering if anyone has any advice on how we get the ball rolling! we have been saying we would like to do this since we got back from Australia in April 2019, and time seems to be passing us by!! (as it does). I am wondering if there is anyone with advice on where is the best places to move to/rent/what areas, prices of rentals (average), is it easy to rent in Aus or will we struggle to find a place? How do I go about getting us jobs there/and who to get our visas with, and lastly, schools. would it be hard to get my son into school (age 13/14 he will be then). I have been infomed that they are free on the Australin government website to apply, but elsewhere seems to charge quite a lot per application! I know in this current climate (COVID19) there are restrictions in place regarding visas etc, but I would just like to know more and hopefully start to plan this journey from there for us. Thank you so much in advance!! Marina. x
  22. Thank you. I know it's just the idea that probably makes me think 'better life' for my son. I feel here in the UK there are no job prospects for him when he's older, the weather is always so dismal that we can't do many outdoor activities..but then again his family are here and I know taking us away from them would be harder than I think. I love the ideas of travelling around and holidaying with him. oh and them pics and amazing...Iceland has been on the agenda for a while now, I'm thinking this year hopefully
  23. Hi. Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. You have come up with some fab ideas for me, and I know you are right in how it would be such a struggle (juggling everything) plus being away from family. The 6 week holiday idea sounds like my best bet, get to know the place and then who knows in the future? I would love to take him travelling, many places...Australia being my main one. I've had this idea for years now and it seems to intensify each week..there are too many things I would have to give up and like you said, a WHV wouldn't be for me as by then I will be 31 and with a child. Thank you again for your advice, I will take it on board the Iceland trip is defiantely next on our list!!
  24. Hi all, I am new to this forum. I hoping for some advice on my situation. I am a single mum, my son is 7. I am hoping to move to Oz when I qualify as a Mental Health Nurse (2018) but as I know it can take so long in hoping to get the ball moving soon. My problems are...I have a very small but close family here (my mum/step dad/nana/uncle) and I know I will miss them too much and feel too bad taking my son away from them, so I am hoping to go on a temporary work visa, for maybe a year, see how we find it then in the future move other there permanently. Has any body else gone over alone as a single parent or planning on doing? It would be great to hear some other stories, if it has worked out or not and how easy it is to find a school for my son (he would be 10) he sees his dad every Sunday and I am aware I would need his permission to take him, I just want this adventure for us both and to give him a better life that I feel in the UK I can't as much. And I know family is here, but I also want to show him to experience this, but then again I don't like the idea ofdisrupting his whole life (school/family/friends) but we can always come back and then in the future go back permanently if that is how we both felt? Thank you for any advice/information
