  1. Is there any way to complete registration before we get out? I have gone through the Non-Practising Registration and the only problem I face is that my supporting docs must be certified by Australian High Commission which isn't possible. Am I able to get a contact who is on the list and practising in Australia to do this? If not any suggestions?? Thanks

  2. Can anyone advise if it is possible to apply for teaching jobs from the uk if you can't register or do your WWC until you get there? We are probably heading over at a bad time (October) in relation to even getting relief work - would there be any chance of getting something so late into the last term or should I be prepared to wait until the new term in February?

  3. Hi! Thanks so much for this information. I think I will probably have to register when we get there - have you any idea of timescale if you register in Australia? How do you go about doing the check?

We are heading to family in Morley until we get on our feet! I'm secondary school - Art & Design teacher with IT. How is the job situation in Perth now? I understand it will very likely be relief work for me which will hopefully lead to short term contract and a possible job. I know the chances of walking into a perm post are slim but I'm prepared for that! Any advice on CVs would also be greatly appreciated lol :)

  4. Am I missing something with the points for the visa application as I don't seem to be hitting the 60 points. I realise I can do the IELTS test for a further 10 points which will get me to 60 but just wanted to check I haven't missed anything...

    Age 33-39 = 15 pointsBachelor Degree = 15 points

    9 years overseas experience = 15 points

    Partner age/skills = 5

Realised that I've made a mistake with the age..should be 25 points!

  6. There's been a lot of discussion about how bad the job situation is in Perth and I'm starting to wonder if this move is more high risk than we anticipated! I by no means mind doing relief and short term contract work to get my foot in the door but am I being unrealistic about securing a permanent post. We have three young children to go into childcare/kindy which is a massive expense so I must secure work asap but are we crazy even considering it if things are that bad. Last thing we want is to spend a lot of money just to get over and then not be able to afford to stay!

  7. Although we aren't heading out until late next Summer I would be grateful if anyone has any suggestions as to how I might secure a job before we go. We are planning for Perth! I am a secondary school teacher specialist subject Art and Design but also have ICT and RE. Can also offer Design & Tec and Home Economics :) Or should I just be realistic and accept the fact I'll be going out to relief work and hopefully securing a post when I'm out there??

  8. No. I applied for my visa and booked medical and police checks about a month later. We will still land 4 months before required to, there's no point rushing these things in my opinion.

Benj1980 my letter has come from PGCE University to state teaching days and course content etc but no student number or date. Should I get it resent with both?

  9. After closer inspection I have only transcripts for one year of my degree so will obviously need to get the others along with my certificate copy. It has my registration number which by memory is my student number. I can also get a verification letter from my university which I reckon I'll do anyway just to be sure. Did you get your police check and medical check before your EOI?

  10. There was a ruling over no transcripts before 2010 or something for my course, but I just kept moaning!

Well that will be a problem for me too considering I graduated in 2001. I have actually just found transcripts for both my degree and pgce! Didn't even know I had them! Benj1980 they both state my module code, module title, credit points, level and result in addition to all my details and course details. Is that enough?

  11. Hi, I got a positive AITSL result back today. I used an agent and they advised that an academic transcript with module by module scores would be required. The number of teaching days is very important. I was lucky to find certificate and academic transcript for PGCE but also needed letter from PGCE provider to confirm course content and number of teaching days. A letter from Uni for my first degree confirming that no module marks were now available and a copy degree certificate were sufficient. Both Unis were happy to provide paperwork required.

Now have 60 points an I'm submitting my EOI next week. Anyone need a physics or chemistry teacher on the Gold Coast ?

Great news! Thanks for this info. Fingers crossed both universities will have what I need!

  12. They are looking for transcripts from your awarding university. The issues people have had is either they have lost them or did not receive transcripts due to completing a SCITT or GTP entry route. I went the SCITT route and had to argue my case to my awarding university to issue a transcript for my course, they weren't otherwise issued. You will not be accepted without them.

Thanks for this benj1980. Guess I'll just need to get in contact with both universities and see what they have or don't have. Potentially heading to Perth also :)

  13. Moving to sunny Perth at end of Dec and start job end of Jan. I'm walking on air!

Front loading means that you do your medical and police check before you submit your EOI. Only issue is that you get a year to validate your visa by flying into Oz based on the earlier of the police or medical check. In effect I only have 11 months instead of a year to validate. My skills assessment took nearly the standard 10 weeks. It was seven weeks between my application and grant dates. I was lucky to be invited after the first round so that cut down the time too :)

    Sending you a pm x
