  1. We are just waiting now for the blood test results. My vet didnt seem to think we would need another vaccination, even though it was done in September. Her logic is that the vaccination is designed to last for 3 years, so the antibodies should not have dropped that much in 7 months. If it did fail, it would have been because it didnt work in the first place, in other words a fail at 7 months would have been a fail at 1 month. Whether or not that is correct I dont know as I dont always believe everything vets say, but we dont have much choice other than to wait for the results from this one and then if no good, vax and retest again

Still getting quotes but will probably be PetAir as they go from Glasgow. Unfortunately I am way up in the Scottish Highlands and so my choices are fairly limited. I dont think mine could share a crate as one is 16lb so a big boy and the other is around 12lb. But the smaller one is still a puppy. I am going to feed mine up before I go, not that they really need it but best to be sure! Plus I have to organise travel from Melbourne to Perth yet as well.

Oh I totally know how you are feeling! I also have 2 yorkies coming when we go in November, and I am worrying more about them than anything else. Mine are also timid, frightened of loud noises, other dogs strangers etc and are very cuddly. I too worry about the stop over in Dubai, and I also worry about the fact they might not eat at quarantine (mine arent keen on kibble). Plus I worry about the heat in the quarantine station etc. Who are you using for their shipping?
  5. Microchip was done, and we are not applying for import permit yet. I need to know if the blood test can be done now, 6 months after the vaccine was done or if he needs the vaccine redone and then test 30 days later. Vaccine is a 2 year one.
  6. Hi, my daughter wants to take her dog and it had a rabies vaccination around 6 months ago, she ended up not getting the blood test done due to us changing the dates of when we were planning to go (long story). Now we have got ourselves back into a plan for going next Feb/March, can she get the blood test done now or does she need to vaccinate again first? If another vaccination is required does the dog have to wait a certain amount of time before getting it? Thanks
  7. Vet didnt charge anything, I had the rabies jab and blood test done there and they gave me the Biobest certificate, I then asked for the RNATT declaration and they did it with no charge.
  8. Ah maybe it is correct then? I have just rung the vets and they said thats what they usually put, maybe I am just paranoid!
  9. Well thats what I thought, should I ask them to redo the form then? As animal and plant health agency is not the name of the vets and there is no address. Thanks
  10. I have had the rabies test done and all fine, however the RNATT declaration has been done by the vet and I am not sure its filled in correctly? She has put her name but on the bit where it says 'employed by' she has put 'animal and plant health agency'. Is this OK or are they supposed to fill in the vet name and address on that part? In brackets the form says (relevant government agency of the exporting country and the address) so am not sure she has done it right.
  11. Benefits till you find work. As an Australian citizen you should get these. Where are you heading in Oz?
  12. Hi, you are in a similar situation to me, I am an Aussie in the UK returning back next year. You will need a tax file number so contact the ATO (tax office) on your return and you will need to get a Medicare card. You will be able to claim benefits from Centrelink. Good luck!
  13. Not in Edinburgh any more, it closed. I live near Aviemore in Scotland so know what you mean about the cost, my 4 children all need doing. Add on the extra £50 per adult/£25 per cost for lodging in the UK and it becomes very expensive. Apparently occasionally they travel to the North of England (maybe Scotland?) as well as the West for the odd day per year, to help those who live further away lodge their passports, however this isnt very often and you would need to check their website frequently to see when they are doing the next one. Appointments only of course.
  14. It doesnt have to be an Australian person signing it. It can be a British person as long as they are in a job like a teacher, doctor etc. Plus all passports have to be lodged in person if its not a standard renewal at Australia House in London (they occasionally travel elsewhere for those who live further away) and all passports applied for in UK have an extra £50 charge.
  15. Yes, my children are citizens. One was born in Australia, the other 3 are citizens by descent and have the relevant certificate. Looks like its much easier to get the passports lol. Thanks everyone
  16. Thanks very much, I will ring them tomorrow. Even a bit nearer would make a huge difference. Every penny counts when you are saving to go to Australia lol x
  17. Thats interesting, how did you find out about it? I cant see anything on the website, did you ring and ask? Thanks
  18. Is it definitely another £50? I read that on the Aus High Commission website as meaning if its lodged overseas (as in not as Aus House). Thats going to be another £200 on top for us then, so total for passports and trip to London now looking like £800 ish
  19. According to the Australian High Commission, all passport applications have to be lodged in person at Australia House in London (appointment only) Three of my children have had previous Aus passports but because they have been expired more than 3 years its not counted as a renewal.
  20. Ah OK, thanks. Its not so much even the cost of it, its the hassle of getting down to London (about 1100 mile round trip) to lodge applications *sigh* Thanks again.
  21. Hi Hoping to return to Australia next year, I am an Australian born citizen with an Australian passport, I have 4 kids (3 UK born, 1 Aus born) all have British passports but also have Aus citizenship. Am really loathe to pay out for 4 passports (nearly £400!) when we have current British ones, plus am guessing we would have to go to Aus House in London to lodge (we are way up in the Scottish Highlands). Plus the whole guarantor, get suitable photos (as they are fussy) etc... Obviously if needs be then we will have to get Aus passports, but am wondering if it is possible for them to enter on their British passports if they carry their Citizenship papers? Seeing I will be travelling on Aus passport, would there be a problem? Info on Australian High Commission website states: I have an Australian passport and a British passport; which passport do I use when entering Australia? If you hold another country’s passport, seek advice about how it should be used. Take your Australian passport and use it to depart from and return to Australia. An Australian citizen cannot be granted a visa for Australia. When entering Australia, all Australians, including those who hold dual nationality, must be able to prove that they are an Australian citizen. An Australian passport is conclusive evidence of a person’s identity and citizenship and provides the holder with right of entry to Australia. An Australian citizen who arrives without an Australian passport may be delayed until their identity and claims to enter Australia have been checked. If a foreign passport holder claims to be an Australian citizen, immigration officers must confirm and verify this through official databases, which will cause delays. International airlines have an obligation to ensure that they only carry appropriately documented passengers to Australia. In the absence of an Australian passport, airlines are unable to verify a claim of Australian citizenship at the time of check-in and may refuse boarding. The airline may have to make inquiries with the Department of Immigration and Citizenship in Australia seeking approval to carry the passenger, which takes time and may cause delays. Which seems to suggest it might be possible but cause delays..Has anyone done this?
  22. Just wondering if there is any discount from either pet shippers or the quarantine if shipping more than 1 dog? In quarantine am thinking if they share a kennel? Thanks
