  1. There is nothing 'permanent', its work rights. Its not the PR part gives you different working rights to the temp visa. Its the same thing. When you gain your PR the work rights won't suddenly change or anything. The 309 is a temp visa, some employers don't like the temp part, even though providing when the 2 year mark comes round and you are still a couple the PR stage is a formality and nothing changes. Work rights are the same on both though.

Thanks Snifter, I read that this morning too. Hopefully my employer allows me to get a permanent job then. I assumed it might have said something different as the visa is only temporary. I do wonder what it says on the grant letter though about working rights, does it define it more there?

What this visa lets you do

The Partner (Provisional) visa (subclass 309) lets you:

    • enter Australia and stay here until a decision is made about your permanent Partner visa

    • work in Australia

    • study in Australia, but with no access to government funding

    • enrol in Medicare, Australia's scheme for health-related care and expenses.

    Thanks Snifter,

    I too read this earlier.

I wonder whether the grant letter says anything more about working rights than this information?

  2. Grants are coming thick and fast now....... A huge thanks to you all for your crossed fingers and wishes xxxx for those waiting it's a killer and beware I still check emails now doh....., it becomes a nasty habit lol xx we are moving in May and can't wait, handed notice in at work yesterday yayyyyyyyyyyyy

im over the moon for you Nollie! you stayed soooo strong whilst waiting, even though those people got it before you! Im not gonna be as patient I can tell already!

I hope the move all goes well :)

  3. oh my god its all too exciting! It soooo great to see all these grants coming through! yay! 7 months and 1 week for me almost! hopefully im close, i do have a feeling im in the hard basket though :S

Just to add my two cents worth... I live in Oz and most public servants here finish at 3:30 - 4:30! so thank god its being processed in London where they seem to work later hey!

  4. Fantastic news. Exciting stuff. [emoji106]

How does that work getting the 100 straight away also then? I was told I have to wait a further two years for that? Although I have also heard that those two years can commence from the day of application lodgment?

if you have been in a de facto relationship for more than 3 years or 2 years with children you dont have to wait the two years. and yes it starts form date of lodgement :)

  5. I'm not stressing.

I'd just love to know how they process them because I'm imaging head immigration office saying ok you can grant 10 today...and the staff throwing all the applications in the air and the first 10 they catch get a grant.....or maybe the applications are pinned to a dartboard??

Hey Bound4Tassie I would love to know how it works too, how can some take sooo much longer than others! it doesnt seem to be a first come first served type thing hey!

Im thinking my case isnt straight forward as I had my onshore visa declined so mine could be ages... :S

  6. Hi Sardaargs

Have you finally been granted residency?

Our second appeal (visa) was remitted back to DIBP dec 8th, new police & medicals sent to our agent 28th Dec, how long did you end up waiting for a case officer? Emailed our agent 2 days ago asking for update,..., still waiting lol.

Which visa waqs it you were denied Jayzo?? I am currently waiting on a hearing for my 820 which was declined in March 2015.

  7. Hi all  and many congrats to people who have recently received their grants! Good news! I can remember when I was applying for my Former Resident visa the emotions and rollercoaster of it all, even though it's been many years!

A quick question...my daughter has noticed that her immi account has been logged into. It was logged into last night when they were in bed. Any ideas??

  8. Hi!

I applied on 28th June 2015, CO is LC, Police Checks and Medical done in November. Hoping for a quick grant.

I was contacted by my CO with two questions in August:

"Please state why you and your partner have chosen to live apart" See below

"Please state why the applicant wasn't included on the secondary applicant's earlier PR application" - I wish we had known we could!

My girlfriend and I met in 2010, lived together for a year in Aus. Then I had to go home to finish my degree.

Then I came back on a WHV to try and secure full-time employment after completing my degree, no such luck.

Back home again to the UK and here I have been working for 2 and a half years while she secured her visa and I could then apply as her de-facto.

So been an item for 5 years, lived together for 2. We spend every day of annual leave together. (which is expensive when you live 10,000 miles away from each other)

Not saying that people's three months apart from each other while you wait for a visa isn't tough, it's all relative, but try 3 years of involuntary separation. : )

It's coming to an end now and just shows that if it's meant to be it will be.

    Cheers,

    J

Wowzer what a long distance relationship you are in! I dont know how you did it! I hope it all works out for you and they accept your reasons for being apart! do you have joint bank accounts and what not? :) keep us posted :)

  9. Hehe.......I'm thinking yrs will be soon but mine will be April time... I get married in November so they can't grant to soon, I don't understand why they only give u 9 months to get over sort a wedding, get married & apply for next part of visa.... Why not a year??!! Feel it's a lot of pressure & stress & no breathing space  but haho that's what it is :/ catch u later I've got to dash off to work now, have a great day :)

Where is it in Australia that you are heading to? There are some great popup wedding companies in perth!
