Hello, has been a while since I posted on here. Hope me everyone is well. Im currently here on a 457 visa which lasts till 2019, but am keen to get on PR. My employer has nominated me for a 186 which has been approved. Im in the process of loading the documents for the for the visa and realise that the Police checks we have may not be adequate. For my 457 I had to do an application through 'fit to work' and that was within the last 12 months. My wife does not have a check from the UK within the last 12 months. We left there in October. Any advice on what we do to get our UK police checks and what is sufficient for a 186 visa? My understanding is that we don't need Australian Police checks as we have not been here for 12 months.

Hi, hope you're all good. I was wondering how the 5 points for partner skills is awarded? Does anyone know. Do they have to be on the Skiled Occupation List, and if so, so they have to officially have their assessment assessed by an Australian assessing authority (e.g medical board of australia)? I'm trying to avoid having to do the IELTS if I can. Andy ..... found the answer. sorry. They need an assessment. Looks like I'll be doing the IELTS

Hi all, My first post! We're moving over in a couple of months. I've got a job lined up in Merriwa WA and we're trying to work out what we can afford to rent and which areas in/around Perth to aim for. We've got no idea of the cost of everything in Perth and were hoping for some ideas?
