Hi, I'm moving back to the UK in March with my husband and two children and am looking for any advice or experiences about buying a used car. Ideally, I want the car to be ready for me when I arrive or shortly after, so that we can use it straight away and avoid having to hire one. I have asked family back home to help and they are willing and we have the funds all ready to go over there. But does anyone have experience of doing this? I'm worried that it may not be possible for my brother to buy a car in my name and get it insured etc in my name. In Australia it's the car that is insured rather than the driver and I'd forgotten that things are different in the UK. Can anyone offer any wisdom? Thank you!

Hi, We're moving back to the UK next year and have been looking at potential rental properties as we plan to rent for the first couple of years. We're not sure exactly where but we're looking at Exeter, Bristol and Bath so far. However, we are bringing our pet dog with us and have already noticed that almost all rentals specify no pets in their adverts. Does anyone know if this is a hard and fast rule or whether some landlords are willing to compromise? I would say that other than our dog (who is small and clean and inoffensive), we are perfect tenants: professionals/non smokers etc. Any advice around this?

We are moving back to uk - when is the best month to arrive to enrol a child starting reception and another starting year one? My son only turns 4 in July - I wish we could hold him back a year like you can in oz! All this talk about school catchment and lottery systems has me panicking that we won't be able to get the kids into the school nearest to where we will be living!
