  1. Hi all,

Been here a couple of months with partner and daughter (4yrs) and hoping to make new friends/partners in crime. Anyone in this area for coffee/playdates?

    Cheers :)

Hey Kymmbo, my wife and I along with our two daughters (2yrs and 6yrs) have been here since beginning of Feb. We have family about an hour down the coast but decided for us we'd like to be up on the Sunny Coast so we settled in Pelican Waters/Caloundra. We are loving the way of life up here and are doing so much now compared to the UK, it's great, especially for the girls. We are getting out and about all the time and are finding new things each week.

How has it all gone for you guys and are you well settled now in the Caloundra area?

  2. Unsuccessful with the visa, it was not rejected due to the above thread but for another reason.

    Regards

Hi Andy, I hope you don't mind me asking, but on what grounds did they decline the visa?

  3. - No need for a medical

    - Took around 4 weeks but that was due to requiring clarification regarding the medical cover they requested.

    - The no further stay was to confirm we understood if we were here for the 12 months we couldn't re-enter via a tourist visa for another 6 months, once the 143 is granted you can re-enter immediately.

    Hey Geordie Joe,

This may seem a strange question, but following on from my previous post, and now knowing you're in the situation I was interested in of being on an e600 whilst having active 143 application..... Can I please ask if you have access to reciprocal Medicare arrangements whilst you spend time in Aus on the e600? Were you able to enrol in Medicare, and that having the active 143 application didn't affect this.

  4. Hi

We are currently in Perth on the E600 visa awaiting a grant of our 143. The application was completed on line and was straightforward, however before it was granted immi insisted we had health insurance in place to cover the period and we had to sign a no further stay declaration for a further 6 months. We did make it clear on the application that we were waiting for a 143 as some of the questions wanted details around current jobs property etc.

    regards

    Joe

    Hey Joe, many thanks for the reply. Can I ask;

    - Did you get asked to undergo a medical when applying for the E600?

    - How long did the E600 take to be granted?

    - Couls you clarify what the other further stay decalaration means. Does it mean if you were there for 12 months on the E600 and then the 143 was granted, then you would not be able to enter Aus for 6 months?

    Thanks in advance.

  5. Hello again folks... similar theme to my post from a moment ago, but different question...

Those of you that have applied for a CPV-143 and have then also applied to have a 12 month e600 so you can travel out as a visitor whilst you wait for your CPV-143.... I'm interested to know what the process was like getting the e600. Was the application easy and did having the cpv-143 underway make it an issue in any way?

    All opinions and thoughts welcomed.

  6. Hello fellow CPV-143 applicants/holders. Here is a question that I want to put out to the community, and also hoping that Alan from GM may add some value also.

When in the waiting room on a 143 application, if we were to travel to Aus on a 12 month e600 visa or a short 3 month travel visa, then if IMMI were to call us for our medicals for the 143 application whilst we were on-shore in Aus, then are we allowed to have our medicals done on-shore in Aus whilst there, or would we be expected to travel back to the UK to have them done.

I know that we need to be off-shore to have the 143 granted, but it's the medicals I'm interested to know if it matters whether you are on-shore and have them there.

    Any input gratefully appreciated.

  7. We are a family of 4 flying out as well in February with SIA, and I can confirm what others are saying, which is that SIA will honour the extra 10kg per ticket upon check in as long as the VISA you are using to fly on has never been validated before (i.e. You have not yet entered Aus with that VISA). I emailed the UK support centre and got a very fast email reply back with all the details. They also confirmed there would be no item limit imposed, so we could take as many cases, boxes, etc... as we wanted as along as the total weight limits were not exceeded per ticket.

Best of luck with the upcoming move.

  8. Have you investigated around the Mooloolaba area... there are lovely coffee shops and eateries right on the front there, not to mention some amazing coastlines, and some great fresh fish restaurants/take-away places. Loads of the regular things too like Woolies, Coles, big outlets etc...

Mountain Creek is another nice area, but more residential, but easy access to all the above.

  9. Hi guys, if I lodge application through agent, how can I see the visa status?

Previously (5 years back) there used to be a portal where you entered TRN, date of birth and last name and could see the visa status.

I have a online account (it's a new system now) but I don't have visibility of the application lodged as its under agents account.

    Thanks.

You could check the status of your VISA via the VEVO system; https://online.immi.gov.au/evo/firstParty?actionType=query

  10. Sounds pretty random but I am just curious. I am in my final year midwifery training and will be applying for a permanent visa for me and my son to move once I have finished and got some post graduate work experience. I am just wondering if accepted on the visa with obviously the midwifery as my skilled/wanted trade does that bound me to work in midwifery for a certain amount of time or forever? I am just keeping options open as I would ideally at some point like to travel and take time out with my son once settled obviously but would probably work, if it is allowed, in my other trained profession which is childcare so nanny work or childcare while travelling, something a bit less long term and where my son could stay with me. Is this an option or will I have to stay put and work as a midwife until Im old and grey x

Assuming you are referring to applying for a 189 GSM VISA then no, you don't have to work in the nominated occupation that got you the visa. You could in theory never work a day again once you arrive - though this is clearly unpractical and not advisable - unless you're a secret millionaire (in which case you probably wouldn't be going the GSM route any way)!

If it's not a 189 you're referring to, then there are various reasons, that aren't worth expanding on here, as to why you'd need to work in the job you nominated for a certain amount of time (i.e. if you were going for an employer sponsored based visa).

  11. Dates and the 143

Hello everyone I have tried to ask this before but got confused...If, say, the 143 is granted in December 2017 do I then go and reside in Australia within six months? A year? Three months? If I can find out now it will help me plan a bit. Thanks, Custardy.

Once the VISA is granted then you will have to activate it within 12 months from the earliest of the date of the Medical or the Police Checks. By activate, it means you must enter Australia. You are then free, in theory, to leave again immediately if you really needed/wanted to, although that would not usually be necessary as you'd be moving there and then potentially.

  12. Look at the checklist. It says something like upload all documents given to the assessing authority to prove employment. Just giving them the assessment letter is not enough imo.

I did not have to submit payslips to ACS as part of my skills assessment. I only had to submit my employer reference letter along with my (huge) Report of Prior Learning essay. I then uploaded the same to IMMI after applying and paying VAC. I chose to upload the payslips myself just to ensure that the CO could see I was still in full time employment with the same employer. I didn't do 17 years worth though.. just the last 3 pay periods. Can't speak for all, but all worked out fine for me as I got a Direct grant.

  13. Hi everyone! Received an invitation to apply for a 189 visa last Friday, October 23. Paid the visa fees and uploaded my documents last Saturday. Based on the guidelines for this type of visa, there is a limit of 60 files that can be uploaded with each file not exceeding 5MB. I wanted to upload more documents such as payslips as there are a lot of them from working for almost 10 years but had to limit due to the restrictions. I am extremely worried now as I wanted to provide as much proof as I can. Also, needed to leave slots for my medicals and police checks.

Did anyone of you experience the same concerns? If so, how did you got about it? I did not notice anything on the ImmiAccount screen counting the no. of files uploaded so I am wondering if anyone actually uploaded more than 60.

You won't need to upload your entire payslip history - that will be way OTT.

Assuming you have a reference letter duly signed from your employer, which presumably you would have had to get already for your skills assessment (depending on your nominated occupation) then that letter will prove when you commenced employment and it will be valid up until the date the letter was written.

All I then did in addition to uploading my positive ACS skills assessment and the employer reference letter, was to upload 3 recent payslips to prove that I was still employed with the same employer to the present day.

  15. Hello all,

Congrats to RMT1980 for receiving direct visa. i want to know that do you have assigned case officer or not.

as i understand. you only submitted application by immi account and attach all relevant documents and after 39 days you got direct visa grant.is this happened with you?

secondly, have you applied as single or you have any dependents?

Hi strikker, yes you have assumed correctly. I applied on 7th Sep through IMMI account and then spent the next 4 weeks uploading all my documents, and in the same time I also got the PCC and also the medicals booked and arranged for all applicants. Once you have applied through IMMI account and paid VAC then you will be able to start uploading and also request Health HAP ID which is needed for medical booking and also the referral letter which you have to take to the medical centre - you must use a centre on the approved IMMI list.

Then after all that I sat patiently and waited, and yesterday was the lucky day!

To answer your other question... I am in a family of four. My wife and I and our 2 dependant children.

  16. OMG!!! Woke up this morning to an email inbox full of DIRECT VISA GRANTS!!!

Direct grants in 30 days! Over the moon is an understatement.... Good luck to all those still waiting from the September round - it's worth the wait!

Slight typo there... it was 39 days. Still amazing... but just wanted to clarify that minor point for any further readers.
