  1. I have savings and my gf can obviously help me out so i was just thinking if we can drag it out as long as possible, maybe go to nz or uk to get us to the 12 months we would be alright .. god i hope theres an option , 2 months from PR independently and it could all be over .. im gutted.
  2. Ok thanks for that. Ive got savings so that wouldnt be an issue really .. ill see a specialist this week , i have 7 working days from friday gone to lodge an appeal and then im assuming it takes them time to make a decision so at least i can make plan a b and c for the outcome. Did you have to go to an official immigration office or whatever and appeal in person or will my agent be doing it online ?
  3. So how long were you granted the bridging visa for rachel?
  4. I know it may look strange and weve had that conversation between ourselves but its the truth , so nothing to hide. My current employer has said hed happily sponsor me (im a scaffolder) in any which way but after brief conversations over the phone i came to the conclusion as it wasnt on the list ot was impossible, even tho i have friends sponsored in office jobs , working in pubs etc. Im desperate to stay ive been away from the UK 6 years now .. nothing back there for me now.
  5. Hi everyone. I have just recieved the email i was dreading to say that my visa has been officially cancelled. I was on my now ex wifes 457 visa and we would have been applying for our PR this month (we split up in november) In the email it states that i can appeal and request a number of visas which I've looked into with hope. Heres where it gets complicated. I would have studied or something but i moved in with a friends relative and we have pretty much fallen head over heels. Were already booked to head back to nz for one of her friends wedding , I am on the lease now at the home we share , we have a joint bank account for bills , savings etc. I will see an agent this week but I'm wondering if anyone knows if wed be all good in 12 monthish time for me to jump onto her rights as a kiwi. Because i have enough savings to sit tidy on a tourist visa or go to the uk or nz until we reach the required amount of time being together. I have read that with appeals in this type of situation it can take 4-12 months for them to make a decision .. which wouldnt be a bad thing. Any advice or knowledge of similar experiences would be much appreciated .. cheers
  6. Plenty solid plastering over here in Perth mate .. decent enough money 300+ a day for a decent firm. A few my Irish mates switched over to concrete tho and work away up north on big $$$ you'll be fine tho pal .. I got a job with a rendering squad in Melbourne also
  7. Glad to hear it Stacey .. that's exactly what I said , it worked out as I ended up loving it where's friends I had left it too late and couldn't get it finished in time and couldn't extend their stay .. but you have plenty time mate
  8. Sorry to hear your feeling low Stacey, we've all been there tho ! Can I just say I was in a similar position after breaking up from a long term partner and was your age at the time. A friend persuaded me to head over here .. and honestly it has been the best decision I've ever made ! I was pretty nervous that things wouldn't work out, wouldn't find work , wouldn't make friends n wouldn't adapt. Couldn't have been more wrong , my friend and I went out separate ways after a few month and I ended up travelltravelling all over the place with different sets of friends I made out here before meeting my now wife. It was all an amazing experience and still is today. My big tips would be get your farm work done straight off the bat as it guarantees your second year and is the best for making friends. And 2 do a bit more research than we did of where your initially heading .. hope you make the right decision for yourself !
  9. Cheers Zack for your honesty , where are you in qld ? I've never struggled to find work personally and like I say the Mrs has the quals and experience across the board in what she does so I'm confident that Wed make a good go of it anywhere as we have back home , Auckland and here in Perth. Just reconnected with a mate from back home who flys in from brizzy to mackay so hopefully can get some inside information from the horses mouth .. where back yem were you from mate ?
  10. thanks Eera .. I have not had experience in the qld mines just the good ol iron ore over this way. Yer ive been reading about the uncertainty of the mines over there and its pretty much same this way , projects being cancelled or put on hold and rio and bhp cutting jobs but our company is actually getting stronger and eating up the competition so i have flat out work guaranteed until we are set to leave. Couple of G sounds reasonable but Im not 100% that i want to continue in the industry when we head over as its a move based on wanting to change our lifestyle not all about the $$$ or we could just stay here you know. I think my scaff tickets , working at heights , confined , gas test etc would transfer over and i have my ports as well as my employer pushing me to get the MSIC you mentioned for a new contract weve been awarded .. wed be coming over in no mad rush to fins work so in my mind i see myself doing whatever is available to pay the rent while the mrs finds her ideal job and I can scope what i could do long term
  11. Cheers guys .. yer mackay is somewhere else were looking at as i think thered be good work opportunities for myself .. I actually worked the sugar cane season back in 2010 and 11 , think we were some of the last people to be planting manually pumping it into the ol chop box .. good fun but hard work !!! Already pricing flights into cairns and the rental of a campervan so i can sell the place to the mrs Her credentials and experience in her field are pretty sought after and I am always confident of snagging a decent number .. Perth is good for what we are paid but the price of everything makes up for that and tbh bar the beaches theres not much to do here and if were lucky enough to expect a lil one in the nearer future Id love for them to grow up the north queensland way !!!
  12. Yer the mrs will definitely plan ahead .. what is the wet season like out there >?
  13. Hi everyone , myself and my wife are wanting to move from Perth to North Queensland around this time next year once we have broken free of the shackles of our 457 visa. I have lived in Home Hill , and Bowen and think the pace of life would suit us perfectly. Just wondering how people think we would fare looking for work and which area would be more promising .. I plastered back home for over 6 years (not sand cement too much) but will have been scaffolding up north in the mines almost 2 years by time we move and my wife is a mental health community coordinator. I know the mining industry has slowed oz wide and therefor Im prepared to look at doing whatever suits work wise but my wife will specifically looking for work in her field. Does construction etc really slow down when the wet season hits ? We plan to do a weeks holiday in october from cairns down to mackay just tp get a feel for where we will officially try and lay roots .. man the house prices are amazing in comparison to here in Perth .. really excited at the prospect of living back in the gorgeous north queensland
  14. my wife is in the UK at the time of the trial theres nothing we can do about that .. i forgot to add that the morning after this incident the 2 indigenous fellas and about 3/4 of their mates broke our electric fence , gained access to our property and smashed or card and the house to bits while i only just managed to stop them entering our home .. that was originally why no body would speak to the police worried that they were capable of doing the same to them
  15. They (supposed victim and 2 witnesses) are claiming that i punched the victim and caused a bust lip .. which i didnt. but in one of their statements it is stated that they seen another man grab throw to the ground and land punches .. BUT it was me shortly after that caused the injuries with a punch. I am not bothered about paying court costs and compo as long as it doesnt get our visa cancelled and will face the bridge of PR when it comes .. but im not sure how i can honestly represent myself in court with no idea of how it all works etc , so am i best off just pleading guilty ?
  16. Hi I am due in court after being charged with ABH next month. I plead not guilty at the hearing and now realise not only can i not afford the extortionate lawyer fees , but that because my wife is out of the country at the time of the trial and i have no other witnesses to back up my side that even with a lawyer i am probably going to be found guilty. What im wondering is has anybody been charged with a similar offence whilst on a 457 visa and what was the outcome .. and wether i should walk in and plead guilty or attempt to represent myself even if it wouldnt effect the verdict ?
