We had about a week of summer in the UK the year and it's been Autumn ever since! It's was hotter in Brisbane during the middle of their winter than it was here in the middle of our summer....and they wonder why Brits moan about the weather all the time

I've been looking about and I can't seem to find any kind of time scale. Captain C might know. I hope it's quick though...the colder it gets in the UK the quicker I want I leave!!

I used to live in North Curl Curl which was beautiful, but a bit quiet and the commute wasn't that easy. But Dee Why, which is next to North Curl Curl has a great social scene, a great beach, and good transport connections. Hope you find your happy place!!

Hello! I've travelled/lived abroad A LOT so have done quite a bit of reading and my understanding is you only need a police check if you lived in the same country for 12 months or more. So despite everywhere I had lived I only needed to apply for my uk and Canadian....which isn't so bad!! Double check your dates and make sure it is less than a year just in case

Has anyone else lodge 189 visa's following the EOI round on the 8th October?

To be honest, I don't know if it's something they should or shouldn't provide you with. We haven't used an agent so I'm not sure what would be expected of them. I wouldn't be afraid to ask them though....it's what you're paying for!

Hi everyone! Thought I'd start an October 2015 thread for the 189 visa. I got our EOI invitation yesterday and we submitted our visa within an hour...super keen!! My BF is the primary applicant as a secondary school teacher. I'm just tagging along. Let me know how you all get on. I'm interested to know how quickly people get assigned a CO and then how quickly visa's start getting approved. Good luck everyone x

We got invited today with 70 points for a secondary school teacher. Did I see Accountant was on a list for limited invites/visas? Sorry...not down with the lingo/facts. CaptainC will know!

We were the same. Originally we thought we would go out end of Nov/early December. But then we had some hold ups with the skills assessment and the it looked like we'd be here longer so my BF decided he wanted to stay for Xmas so voila....it's now early Jan. That's all still dependent though!! Keeping everything crossed for our EOI today and we can finally get our visa submitted. We started the paperwork process Xmas last year so it feels like it's been going on forever!

I think it's a good thing to have a date in mind. You kinda need it for your sanity. We've always given ourselves a date to leave of early Jan and even tho we still haven't had our EOI invite, that's still our aim. It's what keeps me going when I'm cold and being rained on

That's exactly what I thought Wooba. From seeing previous posts from other EOI invites, people seem to get them the day before UK time.

Hi Bungo. Yes loooking at either Kings/Shelly/Dickie beach or Burleigh Heads way. Depends on work. We wanna get to know Brissy and enjoy being kid free but when we have a family we'll look to move out. We're moving to Brissy for the beaches but thought it'd be fun to enjoy the bright lights of Brissy for a while!

Hello! My bf and I are moving to Qld (hopefully if all goes to plan) in January 2016. We are in our early 30's and want to live in central Brisbane before we move out to the beaches later on (within a year or 2 perhaps). Can anyone suggest good areas within central Brissy? I have been told Southbank is a nice area but any other suggestions would be great! Thanks in advance Hannah
