That doesnt sound too bad then lol

Not sure to be honest, i thought Jan/Feb was the height of summer?
-
Im going the opposite way to you but could always meet up if we in the same area at the same time. Im starting in Melbourne but will probably be travelling north up the east coast from Sydney around Jan/Feb sort of time
-
Same, thats where id personally like to stay for a long period. Plus iv heard there is lots of farm work there!
-
Yeah in the winter Lanzarote can get quite chilly, is alot dryer than Tenerife so a nicer heat.
I think QLD will still be nice and warm in the winter, im hoping so as thats why im timing arriving in Brisbane and staying there for the winter lol
-
HAHAHA.... I love the heat, lived in the Canary Islands (Lanzarote) for a year and used to get very hot there in the summer. 40c sounds lovely to me!
-
Haven't a clue lol I want to escape extreme heat in summer but it doesn't sound like I'll be able to when I've found out even tasmania gets 40oC sometimes! I'll just have to decide nearer the time
From what i've read and been told during the summer you will be best off Melbourne/Sydney (down south) as QLD, NT etc get VERY hot!

I'm trying to aim for mid November now. It means I'll have saved 2k more than Id be going with originally
Extra 2k always welcome! lol... Where you planning to start?
-
Is this a competition? I'm sure after you finish backpacking Asia you'll have same mouth as me when you arrive in Australia;) have you thought about getting a car? I'm taking a large suitcase with me so I'm planning to get a car, I want it to be a relaxed trip as much as possible, & a car kinda adds some freedom
Course it aint a competition, iv just had a very boring life for last 16 months and managed to save alot lol.
No i wont be getting a car, i was a naughty boy last year and currently aren't allowed to drive. You're right that a car would give alot of freedom i just unfortunately dont have that option. Buses/trains and rideshares for me

I arrive in Melbourne around 25th September, maybe all us newbies should meet up! lol

Starting in Melbourne was my plan at first, but I just thought Brisbane would be a nice area to work and there's not too much competitions when it comes to finding farm as compared to the Sydney area. I'm hoping to work and save so that I don't come back poor.. Initially I'm gonna take £4k with me plus a £5K credit card for emergency
Yeah i did think about going straight to Brisbane and staying there but thought the timing of when i get there would be the best time to do Melbourne as Sydney as it will be approaching summer then end up in Brisbane for when it cools down a bit, basically just following the warmth haha..
Fortunately iv been saving for quite a while so will have a bit more than you, hoping to work for couple months in Melbourne pretty much as soon as i get there so i dont eat into what i have saved which would then allow me to go Sydney for a bit then work again once i get to Brisbane. Also have a credit card with a 7k limited which will only be used for emergency flight home if needed

Hey I'm arriving in Brisbane last week of August & I'm thinking of travelling & working anti-clockwise (leaving the best for last Sydney & Gold Coast) this is just a sketch, my plans are likely to change as soon as I land
Hiya, that doesnt sound like a bad plan to me!
I plan to do Melbourne, Sydney then slowly head north towards Brisbane and stay there for a while. Quite like the look of heading north to Darwin aswell

London to Oslo - £70
Oslo to Bangkok - £130
Bangkok to Bali - £70
Bali to Melbourne - £100
Total is £370
Only booking one way as will be able to prove i have enough money for an onward flight on top of the $5000

Literally have no idea haha. I've got a friend from back home who was on a student visa last year based in Melbourne, so I'll pick his brains when I next see him. There seems to be too much of a choice. I'll definitely be in Melbourne during September though, unless I have an extreme change of plan. How long are you planning on being in bali and Thailand for?
Im definitely going a month in Thailand, undecided on how long to stay in Bali at the moment. Probably 2-3 weeks mate
-
Hiya mate, I'm getting it tonight, I just wanted to clear the entry date situation up first and like you said the visas seem to be getting approved pretty quickly, so I'm in no major rush. I've completed it, I've just got to pay for it.
I'm looking to fly out mid to late August, probably to Melbourne. Currently toying with the idea of stopping over somewhere in Asia for a week or so to break the flight up a bit. What about yourself? I'll keep an eye out for that thread.
Im doing Thailand and Bali on way to Oz
-
Nice one, cheers. I'm good to go then! Any of you guys out there now and care to share some experiences? Can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I arrive in September mate, planning on starting in Melbourne. Where you going and when?
-
Basically you just have to enter Australia within a year of being granted the visa otherwise it expires and you have to apply again. The expected arrival date doesnt mean anything

Hi all.
Title pretty much covers the question if anyone can let me know please
Thanks

I think they normally take about that when they are system approved, only when you have convictions or they need additional information it takes longer.
Mine took 4 months due to be being a stupid boy!
-
Oh right cool... Well I'm planning on still being there!! lol
-
Just incase anyone with a similar record is wondering i received my email on 22nd May notifying me my visa has been granted. So relieved!
See you in September!
-
Hiya.
I originally planned to start in Sydney but changed my mind and decided to start in Melbourne for 2-3 months then head towards Sydney then north up the east coast.
I bet you dont come back for Xmas! lol... Especially as it will be summer in Oz.
From what i have seen it is quite difficult to sort a job before you get there but once you arrive its quite easy aslong as you're not too bothered what you do. Im planning on staying for the full 2 years and maybe longer if i can, if not maybe move on to NZ and do 2 years on WHV.
Are you stopping anywhere on way to Oz?

Haha yeah, dont think there's too many places that get more humid than Thailand in August lol. Atleast Bali will be a little fresher!
