  1. Thanks Bev, that's interesting.

Do you know the exact dates you are going, which enabled you to get travel health cover and pay for it, which let you give immi the details with your application.

When we apply for our e600 visa we don't know yet what date we will be going within that year, so will not be able to have travel health cover in place.

So are we able to provide immi with travel health cover details later, when we know our travel dates, and can book our flights.

    Lorraine

    Hi Lorraine

Yes I know my travel dates, and I would suggest you book your flights well in advance, the first seats booked are cheaper and as other seats fill up the price goes up. I have used Flight Centre and they gave great advise and helped choose the best offer. (For me, not them) I would recommend giving them a call, even if just for information for the future. They spent a lot of time to find me the deals I then chose from, I couldn't recommend them more.

I got a quote for a flight in October, as I then went to book within 2weeks the price had already gone up £200!! I then looked at flights for November and booked straight away. The price goes up as the flight fills up, beware.

This also allowed me to book the travel insurance which I did need definite dates to give cover.

I would suggest you wait until you know your dates for travel as the e600 was a breeze, it is only a tourist visa so not very in depth, and as I said came through within a week. (Although I have heard it can take up to 30 days)

I have to say, I am very pleased to have a travel date in hand, and there is so much to do at least I can schedule my packing, shipping etc. There is a lot to sort ou!

Beware of shipping.........a tourist visa does not allow shipping of goods, you will have to wait for your main visa to be issued.

I am not taking much, and my daughter is shipping out items on her visa, so I have been able to put some things in there.

    Hope this helps.

  2. Hi Bev, Thank you for your reply which is very helpful to us to know.

Could you let us know what hoops you had to jump through to get your visa.

i.e. What Health insurance and medical information or other things you had to provide, for immi to approve your visa.

    Lorraine.

    Hi Lorraine

    No hoops, all very easy.

i booked travel insurance with ANZ and quoted that as health cover. All very simple.

i obviously can't do any work with this visa, I will have to wait for CPV to come through. So I will be having a nice few months break which will give me the opportunity to see a bit more of Australia and settle in.

    Bev

  3. Hi all, hope you all having a nice Easter.

Any advice please on a e600 visa.

    1. How long after applying is the wait to get your visa granted?

    2. We are hoping to get a 12 month e600 visa, does it start from,

    A. The date its granted?

    B. A date in the future you could ask it to start from?

    C. When you enter Australia?

If C. How long do you get before you have to enter Australia?

And does the 12 months only start from the date you enter, so you get the full 12 months stay?

Any advice would be helpful, as we know little about it.

    Lorraine

    Hi Lorraine

i have applied for and received an e600 visa. It was granted very quickly about 7 days, and I have 12 months after the grant date to arrive in Australia and then allowed 12 months to stay after date of entry.

So my grant date is in Feb 16 . I have to arrive before Feb 17 and when I arrive I can stay 12 months from that date.

i am going over in November and hopefully my CVP visa will be granted around June 17, but I have a few months leeway should I need. Hope this helps.

    Bev

  4. Hi Harvi and everyone else

Visa status is GRANTED as of 30 minutes ago. We are now partying in Bali and so relieved that we will be allowed back in on Sat. Can't tell you how stressful these last few weeks have been. Well you all know about stress. The grant came in an email and is attached electronically to our passports. Well let's hope so or we will be in a pickle on Sat. Hope all you April lodgers have everything ready and they are very poor at communicating they did not acknowledge receipt of money which was nerve racking when you send it by mail. So be prepared to send them stuff and get no response but they are working slowly!!! Good luck to you all. Now to start applying for jobs and getting a mortgage as we no longer have enough money left to buy a house outright!

Pleaze don't forget us!! Please let us know any tips, things to worry about, things not to worry about!! I think we all realise you will be busy now, but I know it would be a great help if you could share your good, and bad experiences, the whole going through the process, and anything else you think relevant.

All the best on for your future............we are all.....................very jealous!!.....................

But it's also lovely to hear about things from 'the other side' lol.

  5. Well folks it's happened!!!!!!w

2nd vac requested and visa will be granted as soon as we are offshore making plans now to go toBali for a week

cant believe it's finally happened at last Hooray

Good luck to everyone else waiting xxxx

As I am planning also being in Australia when hopefully CPV is granted, how do you know when to leave the country, have they told you the date? How does it work?

    Bev

  6. Hi

we we came early and 'cheated' and shipped under one of our daughters name who had move out a year previously. Friends ours did similar but their son had been granted longer than 2 years but they argued his visa type said he had to activate it within 6 months and then had to live in oz for 2 out of 5 years so technically he could have 'moved' to oz after 2 years of being granted therefore that 2 year limit was from date of move not grant. Haven't seen them for a while but they seem to have got away with it. Might be worth revisiting wording - doesn't it actually say grant or moving to oz. Also we , booked, paid and organised shipping and just added "for our daughter...,,.," on any paperwork and we were never asked for her visa details by anyone so not sure how much attention is paid to detail of visa length etc. Hopefully this helps Kim

    Thanks for that Kim

Who did you use to ship?

    Bev

  7. We have had a lovely relaxing week away thanks let's hope next week. Brings good news or I will have to start worrying about our holiday visa which runs out onMar 24

    Hi there

i am hoping you, (or anyone else who has knowledge) can help me.

I thought I had everything sorted, but it seems not!

I am going over to Australia this November on an e600, then hopefully my CPV will be granted approx June 2017 (I realise I have to leave the country while this occurs)

My question is............has anyone found a way of shipping personal items out during this crossover time?

I am not looking to send a lot, no furniture to speak of, but quite a few musical instruments, kitchen and leisure items and quite a few little things of my life.

I am sure all this will fit in a small move cube, but they have said I need a visa to ship this, or pay tax on the items original value (no depreciation)

i thought I could bypass this by sending goods on my daughters PR visa (quite a lot of the items are my daughters wedding presents that she has never bothered to request, thinking I could bring them with me), but have been told this needs to be done within 2 years of her visa grant, which was granted 3 years ago.

Can I send items on an e600? Or will I have to store items until my CPV is granted?

    Any information gratefully accepted.

  8. Bev50Bradley are you shipping your belongings over when you go in November.

I've been getting contradictive advise on if we can do this or not but hoping this is possible as we are selling up early and taking a gamble on getting granted our 143 visa.

    Lisa

No, cannot ship unless you have a visa reference.

i have decided to travel light, have sold my house, now selling as much as I can! Quite a lot of 'stuff' is my daughters that I was holding for her, so I am shipping these out to her on her visa.

I will keep mine stored at relatives then arrange one of the move cubes when my visa comes through. Not too much though I have to say, I have agonised over this for ages.........but came to the decision, new life, new gear!! how much is it really worth?!

And where are you going to put it until you have settled somewhere?

  9. Hi, we are doing the same, going a few months early in October. Any thoughts on getting medical insurance/travel insurance with the e600 visa? We will probably get our police check over and done with in June. We lodged in Jan 2015 so hopefully it will still be valid!!! Great to read all the helpful comments. So grateful. Kathy

    Hi Gogirl

i have applied for the e600 and have just quoted a travel insurance health cover, I'll let you know how that goes.

I believe I should hear within 20 days.

You can do the police checks from Australia if you are living with someone you know, you just need a signed letter from who you are living with and 2 utility bills in their name at that address, it costs to send to Australia, but heyho! everything does, at least you know it will be in date.

  10. Hi Bev,

Think I'll start looking now then as we are planning on going end of Oct.

    Thanks for the info

    Lisa

November was cheaper, flight centre I have booked with, extremely helpful, she spent lots of time going through various options, probably about 7 hours in total, they will phone you too, extremely satisfied with their service. I have booked for 1st Nov, I hope their is no problem with the e600!!! ?

  11. Hi all,

Those of you lucky ones who are already in Oz on the e600 tourist visa while you wait for your CPV to be granted I wondered if you had to book a return plane ticket or if a one way ticket was acceptable .

    Lisa

    Hi Lisa

i was advised to go for a return ticket, and I have to say, the cost difference is very minimal!

The earlier you book the cheaper the flight.

    Bev

  12. Hi all,

We are selling up and moving to Australia on a e600 visa in November and was wondering how will this affect our police checks. Can we still do them before we leave and complete the forms with our current address which we shall be living at for a couple of months more. Just another thing to worry about !!!

    Lisa

Hi Lisa Lou, I am thinking of doing the same, moving over in November! And am currently trying to contact the police, to ensure I can request these checks without being in the country, not sure if you have to present yourself at a station? Anyone help with this info?

  13. Here is an updated 2015 lodgers list:

    Gogirl1 lodged 20/01/15

    IanS61 lodged 19/03/15

    Harris L16 lodged 28/04/15

    Lisa Lou lodged 08/06/15

    Geoffandgill lodged 09/06/15

    Bear2015 lodged 02/10/15

    Myself lodged 03/11/15

    AMP lodged 10/12/15

Assuming people are processed in order, come 2016 we should hopefully be able to track where we are up to. Look forward to waving farewell to you Gogirl1 to start our exodus from the Waiting Room.

Great idea, we should all make sure we keep all updated.

  14. Hi Ian,

Unfortunately it's not a done deal, some people have been turned down due to medical issues which comes down to the cost of on going treatment in Australia. The e600 visa took us about 4/5 weeks however that was due to immi requesting we had medical insurance to cover the duration of the trip, unfortunately they wouldn't tell us if we needed full cover such as BUPA provides or a travel policy with the usual medical covers. Despite emailing them and asking for clarification we kept getting the same cut and paste response saying we needed medical insurance. In the end we opted and paid for the 12 month travel cover which cost around £600 emailed a copy and the visa came through.

    Joe

    Hi Joe

Was the £600 insurance for 1 or more persons?

    Bev

  15. Does anyone know the cost of shipping items out......approximately. Do they have special boxes that need to be used, or could I start boxing now?

For those that are in Australia waiting for the visa being granted, did you book a return flight or one way? A travel agent I spoke to thought that a one way ticket could cause a problem on a tourist visa.

I am just looking into things in case I decide to go out later this year, flights are supposed to be cheaper if you book well in advance.

    Any thoughts, information gratefully received.

  16. Yes we just need to find someone with a Sept 15 and an Oct 15 lodgement date so that we can get a sequence going to follow.

I'm following all information too! I'm just in front of you and am intending moving out about 6-7 months before I envisage the visa to be granted. (All chickens in basket for me, if it doesn't get granted, I'll be in the proverbial ****)!

getting very excited for quite a few in the waiting room who are very close.........jealous too!!

Good luck to us all, hopefully the queue will shorten rather than lengthen.

  17. Yes, it's just me worrying about putting everything right on the application, it's a nightmare cos I know everyone's except one and it's so hard to find it, come from a large family, have five biological brothers and sisters and six step brothers and sisters, l know Aug is a long time off but want to get everything in order when the time comes harrythompson1

I also had 6 step brothers and sisters, that I hardly know, but one of them was helpful and game me the information of the others.

hopefully you can find one like that.

  18. Hi, asked a question a few days ago, hope someone can help. Me and my husband want to go for a 173, daughter, son in law and 2 grandchildren live in Perth, can't put in for 173 until August as that will be two year residency although they have been out there for 4 years. What I would like to know is when it asks for step brothers and sisters on the form does it mean blood related as both my mum and dad married again but step brothers and sisters are not blood related, also do we have to have medical school for a 173, would love some help on this, many thanks harrythompson1

My understanding is step brothers and sisters are never blood related, otherwise would they not be your half brothers, sisters?

    Regards

    Bev

  19. Hey Joe, many thanks for the reply. Can I ask;

    - Did you get asked to undergo a medical when applying for the E600?

    - How long did the E600 take to be granted?

    - Couls you clarify what the other further stay decalaration means. Does it mean if you were there for 12 months on the E600 and then the 143 was granted, then you would not be able to enter Aus for 6 months?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi

I think you are thinking on the same lines as me, I am wanting to go over approx 6 months before my 143 is granted.

i was assuming you had to attend medicals at a pre-organised location, could someone please confirm the actual procedure for this.

Also what does the E600 cost?

    Regards Bev
