  1. Mostly family. I thought it would get easier. It got harder after about 5/6 years. Also a huge sense of not belonging, a lack or 'connection' or roots with Australia. All things I would have sneered at a few years ago but things I feel are a real void in my life right now.
  2. Hi guys. We didnt ship coming to Aus so this is all new to us. I have had a quote from affordable shipping .com for a 20ft container Adelaide to Felixstowe: The price to ship house hold goods/ personal effects into 20ft container from Adelaide to Felixstowe is A$3865 Inclusions: Delivery container at client premises/warehouse for loading based on a good access Allow upto 3 weeks to have the container for loading , if needed Cartage to the wharf Export documentations Export custom clearance Origin port fees Ocean freight fees Delivery goods to Felixstow terminal in UK Exclusions: Loading goods into the container Destination port fees Clearance and delivery at client residence in UK Insurance Has anyone used this Sydney based company? Does anyone know what the destination port fees are roughly? And how/what do I do from there, between the container arriving in Felixstowe and the removals co bringing it to me. Obviously I will be asking the shipping co for advice but its all so confusing. Thanks in advance. Xx
  3. I'm the same with the kids. I want to do it and I want to do it NOW because of school timing. I have four school aged children and worry how they will transfer back. It's so hard. I know that we will go back at some point. It's inevitable so it feels like we are just prolonging the inevitable and wasting time and money. We came for adventure. Mission accomplished. Good luck xx
  4. I hope it is everything you want it to be.
  5. Thank you so much. I may as we'll give it a go hey!?! Good luck with the pay scale battle. It's a drop in wage from $ to £ as it is.
  6. That's great Lassi. May I ask, Did you apply for that job through NHS online or otherwise?
  7. Thanks Claire. I think I probably know this. Just hoping someone could prove me wrong.
  8. This is the contradiction that is confusing me. I don't need or expect help as I am 'eligible' for registration (providing I can pass the tests), but I was hoping for a glimmer of employment hope before leaving. Even if registration only takes 90 days, that's 90 days that I am in the UK in limbo with the children. Also, as aforementioned, I am trying to avoid another move with the children. They really have been through enough already. Especially the teens! I'm worried about heading to an area but not getting work.
  9. Thanks. That seemed the logical answer to me too. However, there is a link for overseas applicants on the NHS careers site that said some employers may help you in gaining registration in your profession. Maybe I should contact the Trust directly.
  10. Hi guys. I am a midwife looking to go back to the UK (I trained here). My question is, can I apply for jobs prior to obtaining registration with the NMC? The issue I have is that we will likely allow jobs to determine where we settle. If we wait until we get home and apply we will have to move again and I don't want to do that for the children. TIA xx
