  1. If you're able to actually make the move earlier then I would seriously think about it, but I suspect my family would not move out earlier than planned. But that's my situation. I'd take the risk. It's your decision though.

    Thanks, I think I would move out earlier if it meant getting this job - but my predicament about the 6 months on WHV expiring before my partner visa is granted is worrying me.

    I found this: http://www.immi.gov.au/forms/Documents/1445.pdf 'Request permission to work with an employerbeyond 6 months on a Working Holiday orWork and Holiday visa' form and it states:

    Extending the work condition on a Working Holiday orWork and Holiday visaThe Department of Immigration and Border Protection (thedepartment) may give Working Holiday and Work and Holidayvisa holder’s permission to work for an employer beyond6 months where exceptional circumstances exist. Wherepermission is granted, it will generally be for a short period oftime (several days or weeks, not months).Exceptional circumstances must relate to an Australianpermanent resident, citizen or business and must beextraordinary and unforeseeable.Exceptional circumstances might include remaining in yourcurrent job for one of the following reasons:

    • for a very short time (days or weeks) as you are critical to thecompletion of a specialised project that has unexpectedlygone over time (this generally only relates to highly skilledactivities, such as a lawyer in the middle of a trial or a doctorwho plans to operate on a patient they have been treating);

    • performing disaster recovery work following a major disastersuch as clean-up, re-building or emergency managementactivities following a major flood;

    remaining in your current job while a decision is being madeon an application for a visa which would allow you to continuefull-time work with your employer without leaving Australia,such as an application for a Temporary Business (Long Stay)visa or a Spouse visa.Note: For the department to take this information intoconsideration when assessing your employment extensionrequest, you must have lodged your visa application andmust be recorded in the department’s systems.

    Exceptional circumstances do not include remaining in yourcurrent job because you:

    • have the required skills or because of labour shortages;

    • are required to complete a project in a job that is not highlyskilled eg. retail or administration;

    • have applied or intend to apply for a visa which requires youto leave Australia at the time of grant eg. Skilled visa subclasses175, 176 and 475;

    • are not able to apply for another kind of visa.

    The first bold part kind of implies as I have a lodged spouse visa application I may be eligible but then the last bold part kind of doesn't as it was an offshore application.

  2. Having just returned from Tasmania, I do have a little predicament now. I applied for a job at a school whilst here and they seem keen and have arrange a Skype interview for next week. They know the situation with my visa and how I will be entering on a WHV in preparation for my partner visa 309 being granted at the end of the year. However, they want the applicant to start 11th May (earlier than my intended date to return to oz which was early July)

    So my problem is I would need the partner visa to be granted before 11th Nov to satisfy the WHV condition of only working for an employer for 6 months - which is 10.5 months after I applied.

    Given that they are still working to 9 months, I'd say it may be possible but maybe not. I know No one can know for definate but anyone any thoughts?

    I enjoyed Tas but I will be moving to a small town of 650 people - good jobs in my area of work don't come up often.

  3. Thanks for the quick reply and useful info! Does that mean that when we submit our application online that ALL supporting documents have to be uploaded online or can we send them in separately via post? If it is all online that would mean we would need to print out documents to get them witnessed and certified, then scan them back into the computer. Is this what other people have done?

    Cheers

    Only stat decs need to be witnessed and certified, evidence such as passports etc do not need to be, if you upload a colour scan online

  4. Your letter said 9-12 months and you applied in december yes? So does that mean they've dropped it back to 9-12 months? great news if they have! I applied end of july just after they raised it to 10-14 months, but at the moment grants are being made at around 9 months, and I cant see why they would suddenly jump to 10 months.

    I applied in December 14 and was told to expect the grant in December 15

  5. Bobby122...I'm not stalking you or anything (I'm on the tapatalk app for this forum on my phone so when i press one button the app goes completely bonkers and selects something else lol) but i noticed on your profile you're in Derbyshire...me too! Whereabouts? I'm in Wirksworth near Matlock :D xx

    Hi elzawelza only just seen this sorry, I'm in Chesterfield so not too far from you! Good luck getting your grant soon!

  6. @bobby122 I would personally check direct with your CO on the general email they give. The medical/police check have to be valid for entry on your 309/100 visa not on a tourist visa previous as I am assuming you are initially entering on? That's why they ask for it to be done later in the process so you have enough validation. From what I have read previously you can still do your medical at/after time mentioned by your CO and I believe if you decide to move to OZ before grant you can do it there and once grant is due you'll be asked to leave country for 3 business days etc for the visa to process into the system electronically. Hope that helps, but I'd def check with CO

    Thanks leftandstumpy, I am entering on WHV (if that makes a difference) in June, I think I'd be best off either; having them all done and dusted BEFORE I move out there, or not doing anything at all about it until I get there and get it all done from Oz! I think I'm just overthinking it, but the FBI checks take 4 months to be processed.

  7. I uploaded the additional info requested (a birth certificate) to my immi account about 10 days ago and not heard anything since, should I of or do I just assume now they have everything so won't hear anything?

    I was asked to provide medicals/police checks in June..but as I am planning on going to Aus in June on WHV and waiting there, should I just get them done sooner so they are sorted before I go? If I'm waiting in Australia, the entry validity dates won't really matter as much cos I'll already be on that side of the world, ready to hop to NZ for it to be granted...right?!

    Also forgot to say, one of my police checks needed is a US FBI check, which have a really long processing time (and high percentage of rejected applications!) so would like to just get it done!!

  8. I applied on 27th Dec and today (20 days later!) I got a call from my co introducing himself and asked for my partners birth certificate. I hadnt even finished uploading everything I had, only have 1 stat dec (and from a uk citizen not Australian), so very happy what I did upload was enough. Told to get medical/police records in June and visa is likely to be granted in December.
