  1. I am interested in applying for a Visa 189. I am confident I can get around 80 points (test pass mark is 65) as I have relevant working experience, PhD, English certification, working experience in Australia under a visa 457, etc.

I am a Chemist and I have been checking the Eligible Skilled Occupations for the Visa 189 and my profession is not included for this visa (https://www.homeaffairs.gov.au/trav/work/work/skills-assessment-and-assessing-authorities/skilled-occupations-lists/combined-stsol-mltssl).

Am I eligible to apply for this visa anyway? Would it be rejected? I wonder if can apply under other related occupation such as Chemistry technician (which is available for 190).

Can VETASSESS tell me what occupations can apply to based on my CV?

Thanks in advance for your kind help

      Hi Raul,

That's a very concise and clear answer, thank you. My occupation in my visa 457 was University Tutor by the way (not available for 189 or 190 anyway). I am a bit reluctant to apply to a employer sponsored visa because when I was under the visa 457 and living in Australia I was not able to get a single interview. In contrast, when I got back to Europe I did many. Was it just me and my occupation or it is normally really hard to find an employer that sponsors you?
