  1. We had an invitation to apply for nomination within 10 days of submitting EOI. It is coming up to 4 weeks now since applying for nomination and they say it takes roughly 6 weeks to process? I was a bit confused as to which part the points etc comes into it. Is it the first invitation to apply for nomination that they look at occupation and points score? I’m hoping we hear very soon and can submit our application ?

  2. Hi Pauline.

We applied for 190 visa via NSW with 65 points (that was including state sponsorship points). We logged our EOI at the beginning of May and received the invitation to submit our nomination on the 25th of May. We then received our fill invitation to apply on the 4th of June and we submitted our full visa application on the same day. We have had our visas granted on the 13th of September. My partner is a paediatric nurse, don't know if that makes much of a difference.

Hi, sorry to jump in on your post. We also lodged our EOI in August for NSW with 65 points and had an invitation to apply for nomination within 10 days. We are now waiting for invitation to apply ( it’s been 3 weeks exactly) since we lodged for nomination. They say it’s around 6 weeks to get invited to apply but yours was super quick, 4 months in total, that’s brilliant! Hoping ours goes like that. My partner is a plumber so not sure if different occupations are different.
  3. Hi everyone, so after submitting an eoi for 190 NSW, we received a nomination invite in 10 days. Applied for nomination and now wait for up to 6 weeks to hopefully get the invite to apply for visa. Just wondering at what point do they they take points into consideration? Is it the initial invite for nomination they look at points or might we be in for a long wait when we actually apply for the visa due to only having 65 points. Sorry if that sounds confusing!!

  4. [mention=243175]Aimz[/mention] My partner is an electrician so he couldn’t get state sponsorship for QLD, we’ve been waiting for an invite since Feb with 70 points but they was only inviting 300 a round.. so we was waiting exactly 5 months! We also want to go to Brisbane I have family on the Sunshine Coast.. Just hoping to get the grant around Jan/Feb!! I’m sure you will receive an invite by the end of the year if you have 70 points! [emoji846]

Well we have now decided to opt for 190 NSW as yet again the ielts writing was not enough to get superior. We feel we already wasted far too much time and money on these tests an we just really want to get there. Even though we had our heart set on QLD, we will be ecstatic to be able to go to NSW. It’s 2 years and when we visited we actually loved the northern rivers area which is close to the border of QLD. Fingers crossed we won’t be waiting too long for 190 with 65 points! Hope you hear soon for your grant!!
  5. Hi ,
we got an invite on 11 July with 70 p. ( EOI lodged in Feb 18, occupation - joiner, visa 189). There is hope! [emoji846] Hopefully they will increase the numbers of monthly applications soon! Good luck!
    A [emoji846]

Fab news on your invite! There is still hope then for 70 points! That is good news:)
  6. Hey Will,

I know how you feel, the tests are so frustrating and I’ve spoken to so many that have had to resit loads of times. I finally passed mine last week- I used the e2 language videos from YouTube and they showed me where I was going wrong. It does take a lot of practice but it can be done - my English is awful and even I passed!

There were 800 invites in the first round of invites this new financial year which is a really good sign - people with 70 points before March were invited. There is a round of invites expected this Wednesday so if they continue with 800 it won’t take long to get an invite with 70 points.

Just a point to remember- if you go state sponsorship you don’t have to be in the middle of nowhere - I have a 190 for NSW to work in Sydney because that’s my plan even if I get the 189. So either route you can get where you want to be.

Best of luck with your PTE test and hope you get an invite soon!

    Patrick

Sorry to jump in on your post, this sounds promising for those who can only get 70 points! Let’s hope they continue with the high number of invites. We are hoping for an invite within 5-6 months hopefully sooner when we get 70 points :)
  7. Thank You all for the reply..
i have spoken to several people who have taken the test and they all ways fall short by a fraction with both test, this seem to be a trend hmmm...
"jetblast" yes that is what a done a few days ago signed up to e2 language, i also had a consultation meeting to see which package was best for me, and they told me just the budget package as im so close with the exams, they also recommended me to stick with pte rather than changing between the two exams, i did tell them i find the content easyier with ielts as i only need to take ielts general, but they still advised me to take the PTE, so thats what i will stick with.
cheers kriss will stick at!!! fingers crossed for the next 1
hi aimz you said you lodged with 60points in feb also, if he gets superior english that will gain him 20points right??? or you mean hes already got 10points from english in the 60points granted? fingers crossed for you guys!
i just hope the next couple of rounds they will drop the points to 70 for invites, i really do not want to get state sponsor and work in a regional area and after 2 years have to move all again [emoji20]

Yes that’s right, he already has 10 points for English which gives us 60 so the 20 will give us 70. Fingers crossed for us all! ?
  8. Hello everybody
I am also in this same boat lodged a EOI in February for 189visa with 60points for same skill as Kriss motor mechanic 321211.
i see the last 3 invitation rounds minimum has been 75 points which is very frustrating! i also noticed all the tradies occupation ceilings are very low, mechanics/plumbers/joiners/electricians this is due unachievable scores unless you manage to get 20 points from English test which has an advantage.
i am just trying to gain 10 points for the english test and here are my results
i have sat the ielts test twice failed by 1 point then .5 only in 1 section
i also sat the PTE test twice which i failed by 3marks then 2marks in one section
so my frustration is beyond at the moment. i will just keep trying them and hope with 70points i get invitation, i will sit on that for 6 months and check the pattern of the rounds failing that i will have to take a state sponsor root.

We are in the exact same boat as you! My partner is a plumber, Submitted eoi for 189 with 60 points in feb knowing we would need to get the extra points.. my partner has his 3rd IELTS year next week after only missing on one section by .5! If he can get superior we will have 70 points am fingers crossed we are really hoping for an invite within a few months! Good luck with PTE[emoji106]?
  9. Hi, just wondering if there are any plumbers in the process yet and if so what are your time scales like? I’m a little confused with the non pro rata jobs? Does a plumber come under that? We ha e had an EOI in since feb on 60 points for a 189 which we k ew would never be enough but wanted to put something in whilst we worked on getting higher points in the IELTS which my partner is doing next Saturday for the 3rd time. We need 8 in each section l, He has just missed by half a mark in the writing so really hoping for it this time to update our EOI to 70 points. We have our heart set on QLD which is why we are going for the 189 but if this doesn’t happen will have to consider 190. Anyone else in a similar situation?

  10. Hi,
I feel your pain! Is English your husbands first language?
I think this was the most stressed we’ve both been through the whole process. I’m not sure how my husband done it tbh as he didn’t do much studying at all and crammed it all in a week before.
We spoke to a tutor who was a previous marker for IELTS who gave us some tips and if needed we would’ve paid for some tutoring but luckily he passed first time.
One thing they pick up on us spelling and punctuation which my husband is terrible at but one thing in his favour is he writes everything in block capitals so the tutor said that would help for the use of capitals letters in the correct places [emoji23]
We only needed a band 7, the one section he didn’t get an 8 on was the listening which was the section he’d done a few practice tests on as this part I think the spelling is important.
I’m not sure what advice to give but to do loads of practice tests, and don’t lose hope, if he doesn’t get it first time keep trying I’m sure he’ll get it eventually. I felt exactly like you that this whole process was going to fail because of a stupid English test which is so infuriating as native English speakers and I’ve see some people get band 8 and 9 and can’t even string a sentence together!

Congratulations on your husband getting the results!! My partner is sitting his 3rd IELTS test next Saturday. We need 8 in every section and unfortunately the last two times he has missed out with the writing only by half a mark getting 7.5. He has got 8.5 an 9’s with the others l. It’s been awful and we’re still really stressed about it. He is practicing like mad and doing writing tests every day. We need the 8’s so we get 20 points to take us to 70 :) ??
  11. Hi Amiz,

Your situation sounds very similar to ours with the level of points.
What is your husbands experience with the IELTS so far? I think I would also need superior in the test and this worries me as my spelling is terrible! I have dyslexia in the family and think I may be mild case so wouldn't be too hopeful with getting a high score :-/

Hi! I will be honest, my partner said it is not an nice experience at all.. I don’t agree with how they mark it and we very nearly went for the PTE as it is computer marked but as he knows the set up with ielts now l, we felt another shot at it would be best. It’s very frustrating as he got over 8 in each part except for the writing with 7.5 [emoji35]
If he doesn’t get it this time l, were not sure where to go from here. Time is goin passing an we just want to get there! What are your plans? You going for a 189? Where you thinking of going in Australia?
  12. [emoji846]

Ah sorry I see.. So annoying isn’t it that QLD don’t sponsor for these jobs:( we have family near the Sunshine Coast too around half hour from Brisbane city. It’s good you have only waited 5 months with them only inviting 300 as well, so hopefully now they they will be inviting more.. iv got my heart set on hearing by Dec. Just need him to get the 8’s in his test in couple of weeks. It’s so harsh when he is getting 8.5’s and 9’s but then a 7.5 in writing [emoji35][emoji35][emoji22]
Aww really hope you get a grant soon ?
  13. [mention=243175]Aimz[/mention]we was in the exact same position we had 60 points to start and couldn't get state sponsorship.. he took the test again and got 70.. iscah is really good for estimates of when you will receive your invite. Where in QLD are you thinking about going?
Good Luck to your partner with the IELTS ?

It’s harsh isn’t it! How come you couldn’t get state sponsorship if you don’t mind me asking? I’m just hoping and praying we can get the English score to get us up to 70? we were then thinking to give it til the end of the year ( hoping we would have an invite by then ) otherwise we were goin to look into state sponsorship but this means not goin to QLD which is where my sister an family are. We want to go to Brisbane :) how about you?
  14. Today we finally received our invite for 189 PR for QLD!! [emoji1]
    EOI - 6/2/2018
    points -70
    Electrician (general)

Hi, congratulations!! Bet you are thrilled! This gives me hope for us.. we submitted a 189 in feb but with only 60 points.. knowing we wouldn’t get an invite with those points, my partner is due to re take ielts in 2 weeks to hopefully get the superior and take us up to 70 points ( need to get this now due to 65 points being a minimum ) we are desperate for the 189 as we have our hearts set on QLD and they are not sponsoring for plumbers (general) I really hope we can submit new EOI with 70 points in August and won’t be waiting a lifetime for an invite! ?
  15. Not sure about cooks but I got my invite on a 190 to NSW on 60 points as a plumber, so if chef's are on the list I wouldn't discount it. Good luck.

Hi there, just wondering when you lodged your EOI with 60 points and how long it took you to get an invite? We have submitted ours for a 189 with only 60 at the moment ( my partner is a plumber an will try and get extra 10 points doing English again end of June. We want to go to QLD which is why we have done 189 as they are not sponsoring for plumbers but we may have to consider the 190.
  16. Hi guys, we are starting a new application and was wondering if anyone has a checklist of everything required to submit an EOI?

    so far I've got -
    Medicals,
Vetassess - I also need to complete a level 2 in first aid for this. (Have a few more questions on this but will read/talk with Vetassess)
Police checks - I guess you just contact the local station to request them?
IELTS - I think I need to score superior for the points required (would like to hear anyone else's experience)

Anyone else going through this or have recently?

    Thanks

    Hi,
Our eoi has been submitted ( my partner is the main applicant being a plumber) we only have 60 points at the moment after two ielts tests. He will be sitting it again end of June to try an get superior so we will have hopefully have 70 points. They are not inviting at the moment les than 70, not sure how long that will last. Think 189 visas are difficult to get at the moment but we want to go to QLD and they are not sponsoring for 190 :( we are using an agent so haven’t done Medicals, police checks etc yet.
  17. We’re doing it through an agent for 5 of us 2 adults 3 children on 189 to Vic. Just getting all our paperwork together for the skills test. English test booked for 17/04 PTE Academic.

Sounds good! I kind of wish we were doing the 189 for the timescale but we really really want to go to QLD. Is it the first time doing an English test? My partner has done the Ielts twice and got 7s, was half a mark off getting 8's in all the sections last time! So frustrating! Was going to try PTE but it looks very different and he isn't sure it's for him. Hope all goes well with yours :)

  18. Yeah and I don't think anyone knows if or when they will start inviting lower points. We originally wanted to go to WA as we have good friends there but they do not sponsor for my work so we had a choice of waiting as you are or choosing SA or NSW. We have gone with SA as we have been there and stayed there for a few months and loved it.
    [/
It's so hard the not knowing!! I think if we go for the 70 points and see where they are at around summer time.. I think we will know more then about the invite situation. If it comes to it we may have to look at SA.. we do have contacts there but ultimately have our hearts set on QLD. Having travelled Australia that is where we want to settle as a family. Wishing you lots of luck with the move!! Exciting times
  19. We are on the 190 which is a lot quicker for getting an invite and also once you reach the 60 points mark thats all you need as far as I'm aware, having more points doesn't make a difference. We were originally going. to go for the 189 but just before we were about to lodge the EOI our agent said there might be a long wait with only 65 points as they seemed to only be inviting 70-75 pointers at the time so we swapped the 190.

Yeah it definitely seems the best option at the moment.. only problem is we are going to Queensland as have family there and they are currently not sponsoring for our occupation which is why we are going for the 189. Our EOI is in on 60 points just so it's there and we are working on updating it to 70. Really hope they start inviting on lower points sooner rather than later. Where are you heading?
  20. We lodged our EOI on 4/1/18 with 65 points and got our invitation on 23/1/18
We then submitted our visa application on 1/2/18 and have heard nothing so far.

Hi, sorry to jump In on your post. Just wondering what visa you have gone for I saw you had been invited with 65 points pretty quickly:) it's such a Knox back when you get told you only need 60 points.. my partner gets the 60 with the ielts and has passed the skills assessment but now have to try an do English again to try an get the superior for 70 points. We are trying for the 189 on my partners job as a plumber. :)
  21. You're quite correct. 4 years study in total is required.
However it looks like the OP has a 'BTEC level 3 in children’s care learning and development' which, sadly, is not a degree-level qualification, so is not sufficient for a successful skills assessment for the Early Childhood Educator occupation.

Yes that's it, it is a teaching qualification you need not just a childhood qualification. I have done 4 years in total but still not a teaching degree so it doesn't count.
  22. Hi all!
I have been working in nurseries full time since 2014 (bar 8 months that I spent in Australia and 3 months working with elderly people) i  travelled to Australia on a WHV spent basically the entire time looking around as have always wanted to move out there. Am looking at possibly the 189 or the 190 visa. Would have a minimum of 60 points (providing my qualification can be recognised by acecqa), possibly 65 if I applied next year (would give me 5 extra points for extra time working in my field) Just wondering if anyone has similar experience? Or if anyone has a BTEC level 3 in children’s care learning and development and it was recognised by acecqa? There are BTEC level 3’s on the website as formerly recognised but none of them are my exact qualification.

Unfortunately this occupation is not on the list ( only a manager of a nursery ) I have level 5 advanced diploma in childcare which will be fine to work out there but not to be the main visa applicant. We are going on my partners job which is a plumber
