  1. Hi, I am flying with Singapore Airlines in a couple of weeks, I emailed them asking about the extra allowance, They responded saying so long as I had a unused relevant visa I could have an extra 10kg of baggage, I have printed the email just in case I need to show it.

  2. Hi Marynyho,

Do John Mason give you a tracking option? They never told me I could do that! Wow really no insurance, knowing my luck something will happen. I think mine is going in a shared container. Thanks for your response.

Yes, we were able to track the ships, then the container into warehouse, was quite exciting, The insurance issue is a very personal thing, and each to their own. We did a lot of reading on the issue and most of it regarding claiming if something went wrong was negative, I obviously am not advising do this, as don't want to be getting told off on here, but luckily for me, all's ended well, good luck with your move and regards insurance, do a lot of research before deciding on a company and parting with your money, lots of interesting threads on here re insurance

  3. Hi, Marynyho,

Our shipment 20ft container, arrived exactly as the schedule said, We tracked the ships, there was a change over at Singapore, all the way to Brisbane. Regards insurance, after reading many threads about it, we decided to risk it and not buy it, luckily we haven't had a problem, so risk payed off,

  4. Hi,

I leave the UK in January,my husband and daughters are already there, I decided to wait until the time my dogs can leave, My husband arrived in Townsville, We have friends there, he got himself a job within a couple of days, so looks like we will be living there for a while, All our furniture is now with my brother in Brisbane, he is going to store it until we have a house.

I would have been happy to have relocated to Townsville or Brisbane,as have visited both several times, We shipped with John Mason, container left the UK 11th October arrived in Brisbane 15th November, cleared customs and delivered to my brother on the 26th, no problems.

  5. Hi, I recently booked my flight with Singapore Airlines, I emailed them with regard extra baggage allowance, Their response was that so long as I had not activated the 189 visa I could have an additional extra free 10kg hold baggage allowance. My husband has already flown over, his flight was with Quantas, all they offered was extra baggage for a reduced fee.

  6. Great post, Always interesting to hear how others are settling, could you please keep updating especially regards your dog, I leave for Oz January same time as my dogs, they are also going through Golden Arrow, it was your previous write up that swayed me, I will be very anxious during the time away from them.

Lucky I'm a nurse, going to get one of my consultant friends to prescribe me something to calm me down (joking of course - this is one of the best feelings ever). Let's hope there's more of you out there opening the same e-mail. Fingers crossed.

Congratulations, best of luck to you : )

  8. Thanks for responses, I have watched the video, At the moment I have fully comprehensive cover for my dogs, so will definitely be looking closely at the small print in any policies I look into when they arrive. Thanks for the heads up on who to avoid Pumpkin

  9. just in case anyone else is in the same situation as me applying for a visa with an older child, there is hope, we were granted our visa this week including my 20 year old son, so for us it was always worth the risk and extra effort to have our family all together, happy days :)

Sharon Taylor, My daughter was also 20 and in Australia, she too was added on our permanent visa, well done, really chuffed for you x

  10. Hi, I don't want to be misunderstood and advocate lying, I just made a choice and decided to omit the cancer, I obviously would not have made a claim relating to cancer, and decided the cost of a return flight outweighed the extra expensive the insures were going to charge, this was for the American trip. I also took out insurance where I did declare cancer and had to sign a waiver to say that If anything cancer related should happen on a trip I would not be able to claim for it, but the rest of the insurance was standard.

It really is unfair as to how a insurance premium can sky rocket as soon as you put cancer on a form, I made my decision based on my type of cancer and prognosis,I also spoke to many other cancer patients who had the same dilemmas.
