  1. Hi, My daughter was 19 and living at home when we applied for our visa. She was in full time college, all we had to provide was a letter from the collage confirming that she was attending full time. She had a pat time job, pocket money job really but was advised that we didn't need to put this information on forms as she was dependent on us for most things.

  2. Thank you for that, My youngest one is the same she never leaves my side and just wants to be with me all the time. I've been told it gets cold in Melbourne and may need to send over little jackets for them. Did you need to do this? Its really reassuring when others tell me their dogs were fine, I cant help but worry but I know deep down they will be looked after. Did they allow your dogs to share in quarantine? as they have advised that this may not be the case with mine.

My dogs arrived in January and flew into Sydney quarantine so did not need doggy jackets. They shared a kennel this was all pre arranged from the UK

  3. Hi, My 2 small dogs have been in Oz a year now. I was really stressed about the journey they had to make.I knew they would be stressed. The UK pet shippers were fab and very reassuring. Quarantine were great, I phoned and actually spoke to the girl who was looking after them, again very reassuring. When I collected them from Brisbane airport, they were very excited to see me, they had lost a bit of weight but otherwise in very good condition. As soon as we got home they made a beeline for the pool and then had a good investigate of their new home. They settled very quickly.I think we tend to be more anxious and stressed for them than they are. One of mine is like my little shadow, so I was particularly worried about her, but she managed the whole experience fine.

  4. Thanks, my daughter is fine now, she needed to rethink a career choice as the knee will always be weak now, she was training to be a outdoor pursuits instructor .She is now an apprentice chef and loving it : ))) Whilst we were waiting for our visa someone on here set up a thread for people to follow who applied the same time, it was interesting to see visa's slowly but surely being granted. Are there any similar threads relating to your time line. roughly a week to three weeks after ours was granted I could see that most others from the thread were being granted visas .

  5. Hi, We had our visa granted a few weeks before it would probably been issued as my daughter was already in OZ on a tourist visa, she had been travelling with her older sister.A week after they arrived my daughter dislocated her knee then developed a blood clot so wouldn't have been able to fly and leave the country before her 3 months tourist visa ended.Agent passed info to co officer and our visa was granted the following day. I was lucky enough to have friends and family here who looked after her until my husband arrived. You appear to have provided a lot more info regarding your son than I had to for my daughter. Can't see why you would have any problem with visa. I think it's just a very stressful time waiting.

  6. Thanks for that NickyNook. Lesson to myself, Do my own research. Just gave my hubby a row for giving me the wrong information.

Either way it is now up to the employer to contact Mara Agent and see where it goes from there. If there is no option for sponsorship

it's not the end of the world she will go to New Zealand and continue her adventures.

  7. Thanks for the imput Blossom, Cook and Barista are also on the list, I have passed all the information I have gathered to my daughter, she will give it to owners and they can take it from there.Hopefully something can be worked out.

  8. Hi, Yes thanks I know Chef is on there. My daughter has met quite a few backpackers who have been sponsored even a chap who works in a call centre.

My hubby is browsing the Gov site to see how this is done from a Employer perspective.

  9. Hi,

I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction of where to find the correct information.

My daughter aged 25 is in OZ on a second year working holiday visa. Her current work place are keen to sponsor

her for a role they are struggling to fill, Apprentice Chef, she has worked there since November as a waitress and

various other roles. The owners have no idea where to start looking at investigating this avenue but are keen to keep

my daughter. Her WHV ends end of June. Any advice would be gratefully received, I can then pass on the information.

  10. Hi,

My husband has been asked by his work if he will relocate to Rockhampton. We wouldn't have to live in Rockhampton just commutable distance.

Has anyone been to this area or living there that can advise on pro's and con's. My hubby went up to work there last week but was too busy

to do an actual reccy. Thanks in advance for any comments.

  11. Hi, I shipped my 2 small dogs Jack Russell and Yorkie x over 1 year ago. I was very anxious about the process and how they would cope.I fattened them up as I knew they would lose weight through a bit of stress . They were absolutely fine when I collected them, the shippers kept me updated as did the quarantine kennels, they had lost the weight they put on but were in good overall condition. When I got them home they both made a mad dash to jump in the pool. I think we stress far more than the dogs do. We have found plenty of places to take them for walks, so long as your sensible and aware of potential risks I cant see any negatives at all about shipping them over, infact I wouldn't have made the move without them

  12. HI,Does anyone know if you can apply onshore for a Tourist Visa at the end of a WHV or do you have to be outside the country, also I just read on another post that you can apply for a 6 month tourist visa, I thought they were only for 3 months at a time. Thanks in advance for any advice.

  13. I used Golden Arrow, They were excellent, although they are not as internet savvy as other Pet Shippers, this is no reflection on the service and care they provided. My decision was based on the location I was living at the time and of course price was also a factor. Pet Air is also always highly recommended, even though I didn't choose them I still like to follow them and their pet adventures on facebook.
