Congratulations Vicky.
And guess what/ My visa was granted at 4pm this afternoon (WA time). Vac request was just yesterday.
Wow
-
sadly me too

I prepared form 80 in advance which took me forever. Was I glad I had as it was requested and with only 28 days to return it along with medical, police report and assurance of support confirmation, I was very grateful that I had prepared it in advance.

I am considering applying for an 864 visa due to the shorter waiting time. I am aware that you have to be onshore when applying but did you then remain in Australia or were you able to come back to the UK?
Thanks
I have no need to leave while waiting for my visa to be granted. I am here on a bridging visa, but if I wished to travel I believe I could apply for a bridging visa B. I'm not sure, but I think this will only allow 3 months out of the country.
Hope this helps.

Compare the $7.90 loaf with Gail's potato and rosemary sourdough at £5.99 (would work out at about $13) in London

Thanks Alan. I thought they took much the same time as the 143. Aside from the unexpected shock/panic. It's great news.

Contributory aged visa 864. It was only submitted at the beginning of March this year. Such a surprise today when the e-mail came asking for the various forms as above and the form 80 (also prepared ready to submit). I was expecting to wait at least another year.

Just received the e-mail requesting medicals, police report and assurance of support. Guess it's all happening at last. medical booked for Friday, police request made and daughter is on to assurance of support. But apparently they are taking more than 28 days currently to process the assurance of support so will not meet my 28 days for returning all the documents for my visa. I guess I'll need to request an extension. Has anyone else had a problem with this? Is it easy enough to get an extension, especially as it will be another government department causing the delay?

I, too, would have to say that my life has greatly improved here in Oz. Back in the UK the weather was frequently far too wet windy and cold to go out in the fresh air for long and, at least where I was living, there were few clubs and groups for the elderly to attend. Here in Perth, I attend classes at a school for over 50's, Keep Fit and Yoga at yet another centre for the over 50's that also provides meals and organizes trips, and I get to swim in the pool every day over most of the year. When you include the free transport to shops, parks and other venues of interest then it's hard to argue that life is not fuller, and healthier, here in Oz.

@weaver I'm sorry to hear that, MTT would have put it back in place for you.
I'm sure she would have:laugh:

Apologies to everyone for not making the meet. I put my back out (just getting up off the chair!!!!!). I'm sorry to have missed everyone and hope to meet up next time. I hope you all had a great time

Ooh just a quick one. If you anyone does check out Mandurah. Try renting a motor boat for an hour. You don't need a skippers licence and it cost just $50 plus deposit. It's a gorgeous hour pootling around the canals. We've done it four times now and each time the Dolphins have swam right up to the boat. If your feeling more energetic you can also hire out kayaks too.
Ooh. Thanks for the suggestion. I will do that and soon.

Glad you are loving Perth MtT. I can't wait to get there myself. Soon soon.

I want to swim with the dolphins. And there is a little park just off Adelaide terrace with ducks. It's so peaceful and quiet there. And I haven't been inland far yet although I did see an Emu on the way to the Pinnacles. Would love to do that again. And feed the ring necked parrots at Mundaring Weir, eat fish and chips at the Lucky Shag, visit the old jail in Fremantle, see the Mint (just up the road from me), see the black swans and the black cockatoos. Take a trip back to Bunbury via Mandurah and.....and.... and there is just so much. Oh and Rottnest and Heirisson and penguin islands. So much to see and do

Merry Christmas to everyone. I'm sorry I haven't been on lately as everything seems to be a bit frantic here but I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and a best ever New Year

I heard turmeric is very good for us too.
Where in aus are mozzies worst? Are they everywhere?
Mostly round still water
-
Stop eating or drinking anything sweet during the worst of the mozzie season.
I was never bitten even once in my life by midges in Scotland, but the mozzies on Heirisson island got to me. I'd just scoffed a pile of cherries so not sure if that had anything to do with it.

There's a chocolatier in Perth that does the most yummy chocolate. I'm sure there will be one in Melbourne too

If you are in Perth over xmas @stacey you can come join us. Probably just a picnic on the beach or trip to see wildlife somewhere
-
Don't forget that there is the free cat service in Perth so you could probably manage for a while without a car.

So sad to read and yet so full of love. I wish you both all the joy in the world

Oh what a beautiful little girl. Congratulations
-
Thanks honey. She's in a lot of pain, she can't open her eyes and she says that the stitches feel like a thousand knives stabbing her eyeballs but hopefully by tomorrow the stitches will have softened a bit and she will hopefully be able to open her eyes. We aren't sure right now how much she will be able to see initially but as her eyes heal then her sight should get stronger. The surgeon said that the stitches will take 6-8 weeks to dissolve fully, which seemed a long time to me. She has to go for a check up on two weeks and is off school for now as the risk of infection is very high at the moment.
Omg. That sounds horrible for her. Will not hijack thread any longer. Apology to OP. Will pm tomorrow
