  1. Hi all, I'm just wondering if anyone can help. Our 457 is about to expire and we need to leave the country while waiting for our PR EOI and subsequent documents to be submitted, Is there a way to get a holiday visa or something similar so we have a little longer to get our stuff together or do we need to leave on the day our visa expires? A person I know commented that we have up to 28 days after our visa expires to leave the country, I don't believe that this is true but thought someone on here might be able to help. any advice greatly welcomed! Thanks ?
  2. Hi all, Just looking for some advice, please :-) we're Currently on a 457 visa (due to expire July 2018). We've put in an EOI for a skilled visa 189(teacher), haven't heard anything yet and by the looks of it we won't for some time. With our visa expiring very soon we're just looking at our options to stay longer. If we started the process of having my partner's work to nominate us what are the chances of getting the application in before our visa expiring in July? Assuming if we did we'd be placed on a bridging visa. Would we better applying for a different visa and wait for the 189 to progress further. Any advice is very much welcomed as we're very confused at this moment in time. Thanks for your help x
  3. Hi there, I'm just wondering how you know the minimum points for an invite is 70? Where can we find out that information? sorry if this is a stupid question!
  4. Hi everyone, looking for some advice please :-) currently on a 457 and trying to decide whether to get PR or not. I'm on a career break from my job at home, can take up to 5 consecutive years. I've already taken 4 years and thinking about taking the 5th year and getting PR. The only problem is I won't have got citizenship before returning home. I'm unsure whether I will be happy if I return to my job at home so would like the option to return if I want. I've heard off a friend about a colleague of hers who applied for citizenship from London and did the test there and returned to Australia for the ceremony. Has anyone else heard of this happening? If so this could be an option. If I got PR and moved home for 1/2 years could I still return to Australia as a permanent resident or what rules are there about leaving the country for this length of time? any help or advice would really be appreciated as I'm very confused as to what I should do. I know I'm very lucky to have these options, I just don't want to make the wrong decision. thanks :-)
  5. 8547 employer work limitation which I understand to be that I cannot work for more than 6 months with one employer as I was on a working holiday visa prior to applying for the 457?! Am i correct?!?
  6. Hi everyone, im looking for some advice please! I've been nominated by my employee for a 457 visa and that has been approved, I have completed the application online and I'm awaiting a decision. As a result i am financially under a little pressure and was wondering Does anyone know can I do some part time casual work while I'm on the bridging visa a or am I bound to my employer only before the 457 decision has been made?! I don't want to jeopardise the chance of getting the 457 visa approved. I know if the 457 is granted that then I cannot work for anyone else but has that limitation already been applied by just applying for the visa?! I hope someone can help! Thanks
  7. Hi the sponsorship application transaction reference number is not needed, unless your business sponsor has not been approved yet. Fill in the box below which is the sponsorship agreement number- this is your sponsorship I.d number! Hope that helps :-)
  8. Thanks Adam! that worked :-) I'm on the final part now! hopefully there are no other tricky parts!:-)
  9. Thanks for your reply Adam!ill try leaving it blank then, not sure if it will let me though! If it doesn't should I just say no to where it asks do I have a visa?!
  10. Thanks for your reply, ya at the beginning of the application it says about the visa label and your right you don't need to fill that part in, but further in to the application it asks for your current visa number/ class of visa/ place of issue and date of expiry! But my visa grant number is too long to fit I'm here!! I'm going to have to ring immigration tomorrow because I can't understand how I can put the number in when there's only space for 11 digits??
  11. Has anyone ever experienced this?? Any help would be great!
  12. Thanks everyone for the replies!i have 80% of the application completed! Im now stuck on the section where it asks about my current visa. I'm currently on a whv, I didn't get a visa label when I got my whv but I did that the electronic visa. So in the application it asks for my visa number. On my whv it has a visa grant number which I assumed this was so I put that number in but only 11 of the digits fit and there are 13 altogether?!? Any idea what I'm supposed to do there?? I really don't want to have to ring immigration on Tuesday to spend 2hrs on hold! Any suggestions would be great! Appreciate the help!
  13. Sorry I was also meant to say I'm Irish
  14. My employer paid the nomination but I have to pay for the 457 application:-( I'm a teacher!
  15. My employer has nominated me for the visa and the nomination has been approved but I have to proceed with lodging the application for the 457! I'm not sure if this is normal practice!
  16. Hi everyone, I'm currently applying online for 457! Stuck on the first page!:-( the first section asks for "sponsorship application transaction reference number " and the section underneath asks for "nomination TRN". On my nomination approval that I got it gives details of the following- sponsorship application id, nomination TRN and nomination Id as well as a file number. It doesn't say anything about a " sponsorship application transaction reference number"?!? What do I put in that section? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!:-/ I want to get the application completed ASAP!
  17. Hi everyone, My bf has been offered sponsorship as a teacher here in Melbourne. The employers nomination has been aproved and we have to start the application. Am I right in assuming we should be applying for a 457 employer sponsored visa? We havent started filling out the form or anything as we are trying to gather all our evidence so I can go De Facto. Can we apply immediately for a De Facto visa or do we have to apply for my bf first and then when his is granted try to add me to it, or how does it work? We are very clueless about the whole process but we cant afford a migration agent. Any help/ advice from anyone would be greatly appreciated. We moved to Australia last July, we lived in Sydney till January and then moved to Melbourne. We rented a room in Sydney but didnt have a lease in our names, would a letter from the person we rented the room from be sufficient to show we lived together? we have our lease here in Melbourne from early February as well as a letter from the owner of a house we rented back at home. Im just a little concerned that we wont have enough evidence for the De Facto visa? We have flight documents with both our names on them as well as letters from 2 australian residents stating that we are in a relationship. We have a joint bank account and bills in both our names. Is there any need to register our relationship here in Victoria? Would it be useful for the De Facto visa? If so would we get a domestic relationship certificate or a caring relationship certificate? I'm sorry for all the questions! We would really appreciate any advice/ help xx
