Hi DS1975, I completed my test 3 weeks ago, I received my citizenship confirmation letter last Thursday so only had to wait 2 a bit weeks :smile: It's the ceremony date that takes the time, I heard it could be anything upto 6 months depending on where you live

I'm just waiting on the sale of my house and my Citizenship ceremony date then I'm off. Seem to be spending more and more time on the phone to back home, it's costing a bloody fortune! Hoping to get back early next year all depending on to ceremony date

I only completed my test last Friday, they told me the acceptance letter should be with me 2 weeks to 6 weeks. The ceremony could take upto 6 months and looking at some of the posts on here and they weren't pulling me leg either lol I'm moving back cause of family an friends, went back last Christmas caught up with all my family in Preston and Ireland just had a blast. My sisters have basically told me that mum wants me back so who am I to argue :notworthy: I work FIFO aswell and am sick of the lifestyle, like yourself I'm just saving and sending money back home until the day arrives. I've wanted to head back for a couple of years but kept putting it off, early next year will be time for this POM to head home.

Hi Sazm, I was in the same boat, I've just completed my Citizenship test and have to wait for my ceremony date before I can head back to God's country, until then I'm stuck up in the Pilbara. I recently spoke to a professional CV writer in Poulton le Flyde in the NW, she explained to me that the X-pats she has dealt with have never had problems finding jobs, infact companies like people who have worked aboard as they can bring in new ideas. Have you tried looking on the Job websites to get an idea what’s out there? I’ve signed upto Monster Jobs, Reed, Indeed Jobs, Job Rapido to name a few, hopefully this will help calm the nerves abit.

Yeah I kind of knew that, I do have enough money to last easily a year, a large house deposit and plenty of family who I can stay with, so that should'nt become an issue.

I've been over here for 9 years, an out of the UK for a total of ten years. Yes tax returns completed every July in OZ

I'm in OZ at the minute, moving back to the UK early next year.

Hi all, This has probably been answered before but, can anyone tell me if I have to pay any tax on savings sent back to the UK? I've recently opened a bank account with the Yorkshire bank through NAB, before I start sending monies back I just want to make sure I'm not going to be paying extra. Also profit from selling my home in Perth will this be taxable in the UK? I've owned the property for over 1 year, Cheers

I know in the long run Super will be a good thing, but if could have it now I could buy my future house out right in the UK. I suppose an around the world holiday is the go when I'm 55 :smile:

Hi AK As long as you have not become a Perm Res then you can claim back your super. However, they do tax you to hell on it around 38% I think off the top of my noggin. Try this link https://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/superannuation/ hope this helps. I have my PR now so can't claim until i'm 55 in the UK :mad: Oh well moving back will be worth it!

Thanks Terry, Yeah I've researched the job factor an what the banks etc require, thats why it will be under my mum's name for a while, until I have worked long enough with the required salary. Prestbury haha no just a nice country town, I'm after a cottage that needs a face lift an abit of TLC. So how are you finding it back there after the big move?
