  1. "That's what they love to say about the Eastern Europeans, making out the British are a bunch of lazy slobs and will sit on the dole while there are jobs a plenty"

err yeah Britain has created a new generation who are better of not working...my neighbour who hasn't worked for the 7 years i have lived in my house ...rocked up in a £25,000 car last week...paid for by the state, classic example of someone who wont do that minimum wage job any more because they are better of on the dole (fact)....and the emigrants taking the jobs are far better value from an employers prospective, they will turn up every day, work hard, and better!

i also find it hard to believe that a government will allow skilled visa's for jobs that do not exist...???

PS..my dad was an emigrant to this country in the 1960's..and the same Sh!T applied!

  2. Hi - this looks like an air pets quote, but feel very free to contact us - often we are cheaper:) I have put comments in the quote below to help out, but get a price from your vets. You obviously can save a bit by doing things yourself, but it is always less than you think and you get little backup. The key thing is to price it up properly or you will come across costs on the way which make it not worth doing yourself.

Have a look below and that should help out a bit.

Thanks Bob that's very useful. I do have a quote from PetAir..and its the best priced  ... From my point of view its probably easier to let a transport company take care of the complicated bits.

    I'll be in touch Bob!

  3. Good point regarding statistics.

I'm hoping your statistics are right. My field (ICT) is also projected a 16% increase according to those estimates. But at the same time I have the impression a lot of people are struggling to find jobs at the moment. Especially people fresh out of uni.

    What's your field?

ICT AS well! Those fresh out of uni cant find jobs here either, We have science graduates working for minimum wage on our help-desk! its nothing new.

  4. I've been thinking about this question myself, as we get closer to moving over. Would be very interested to know what a 2015 cost comparison looks like between DIY and pet shipper.

I've started to look at his too, I've had a few quotes and to be fair some of the elements look quite complicated..in terms of Documentation and timings. But I'd be keen to know how much I could actually save? I've listed the steps below, with comment.

  5. I came over this article today:

    http://www.macrobusiness.com.au/2015/03/australias-historical-low-skills-shortages/

It's an interesting read, and it looks like there's not much of a skill shortage in Australia nowadays. Rather the opposite.

Not good news for people who are interested in migrating I'd say. In best case it means salaries will be under pressure, and in worst case finding a job will be a real challenge.

They can make statics look however they want. The employment projections from the .gov site look healthy to me...but I'm no expert. My field is projected a 16% increase in vacancies over the next 5 years..that cant be bad?

    http://lmip.gov.au/default.aspx?LMIP/EmploymentProjections

  6. After getting a positive skill assessment by the Australian Computer Society, I am now eligible for ACS Membership. Has any Oz-bound IT professional actually joined and found the membership useful in any way - ie is it viewed favourably by Australian employers, has it opened doors, or is it just another money spinner??

    Thanks all

    I'm interested in this too

  7. I would NEVER recommend GoDaddy regardless of where anyone was based! They are dreadful.

Many factors influence site speed (which is what you need to worry about) and latency due to geographical location is only one of them - and much less of an issue for a business which is merely advertising its services (as opposed to a site where users are performing functions).

    http://blog.iweb.com/en/2014/02/understanding-analyzing-reducing-latency/13176.html

If you want an Australian host be sure to research them carefully, because many Australian hosting companies in fact have their servers in the US and Asia.

    http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/65599

Completely agree...so can anyone recommend an actual East Coast ( Brisbane\ Gold Coast ) host?. My wife is a Photographer, and the blog will have thousands of Pictures..hence the need for low latency host. We had the website on Godaddy for years, the Website was slow loading( 20-30 secs) and pictures slow to load...go daddy blamed our website. as soon as i moved to TSOHost all issues went away.

  8. Why do you want to change hosts? There's no advantage to using an Australian hosting service - most Aussies use US ones. What really matters is having .au on the end of the domain name and most importantly, telling Google that the business services Australia.

Not true, if I'm targeting gold coast customers then it would make sense to at least have my Host in Oz rather than the Uk. The latency would be dreadful!

and Go daddy latency is dreadful and well known, best thing i ever did was switch to a local host..hence the reason why i want a local host again

  9. Its time to start thinking about building a web site for my Wife's business, as we are migrating next year. she is already having requests for bookings in 2016 and 2017 here, so we hope that with her experience and portfolio she will start having enquiries over there.

I use TSO Host, here to host my wife's WordPress blog and they are superb for performance and support..but i previously suffered for years with other hosts ( poor performance and support).

Can you recommend a good Host (not Go-Daddy) , preferable an Australian host , at a decent price.

  10. Free, single, just bought my own flat so I would rent that, just starting to get into my career in construction.

I have been to Australia about 4-5 years ago so have already done all the major citys on the west cost.

have you checked if you have enough points? for example a 189 visa requires 60 points

Points are awarded on the basis of the factors listed in the following table. All factors are assessed as they are at the time you are invited to apply for this visa.

Its all about common sense really...you are not required to have funds...some people on here have migrated with very little in the bank!

  12. Yes that would be just for myself, I was not sure if that was good or bad.

That will include, visa, CRB check, medical, legal fees, assistance finding a job and assistance finding housing.

Doesn't sound to bad, ours cost just over 8K..but i did it myself ( family of 4). I'm sure someelse can advise accordingly, i would however check the cost with agents recomended on PIO

You must have adequate financial resources to support yourself and your dependants (if you have any) when you migrate to Victoria, or while you look for suitable employment. We do not require evidence of these financial resources.

"you must have adequate financial resources to support yourself and your dependants" > thus requires common-sense : )

As i said 50p would suffice!

  14. Pretty much our situation too, and factor in the £20k ish that we would need to save for the recommended Aus $40k savings as per the visa requirements.

"Aus $40k savings as per the visa requirements".???? ehhhh say what...correct me if i'm wrong but there's nothing stopping you going with 50p in the bank!
