  1. Hi All,

I am new to this Forum and looking for some expert advise on my queries related to AUS Immigration.

By profession i am a Engineering Graduate and working as a Program/Project Manager in my current Job.I have been exploring AUS IMMIGRATION portals and other website to check the procedure and per-requisite to apply for PR under the category skilled independent Visa ( Subclass 189).

I am looking for your expert guidance under which category of Skill set i can apply for subclass 189 Visa. I have gone through the SOL list but cant find exact skill set for Project/Program managers however i can see ICT Project Manager as a skills in the Consolidated SOL list.i am not sure if i can apply under the category for ICT Business Analysts which i can find in the SOL List.

Once i know the exact skill set category, accordingly i can initiate the ACS process as a next steps.

Appreciate your expertise advise on the same.

    Thanks & Regards

    Going to Aus

check the ANZCo site for a more detailed description of the occupation, you might be able to adjust you application to ACS to fit?

  2. Hi everyone ,its my first time on this forum and im looking for some help , my husband and myself have decided we are going to TRY and take the leap and move to Oz but the 1st hurdle is going to be my husbands job . He was trained to be a carpenter by a carpenter and has been doing this for 10 plus years (he is excellent )but has no actual qualifications .I have read a bit about the TRA? ? And was wondering if you guys could help point us in the right direction , does he have to sort this out before a visa ? Is it done whilst applying ?does any one know what it involve s? ,your feedback would be great ,we already have family living out there will this help in anyway? (it's nephew and family )so not parents or anyone immediate x

if you have money to burn, go to a migration agent or just continue the research yourself, their is plenty of information on here and the government websites

cant help with the TRA but the EOI and visa application is simple enough, to do your self.

  3. Hi, we will be arriving on the gc end of October. We have been doing a lot of research and would like to live in a family friendly suburb with lots going on, we have narrowed it down to the northern suburbs, helensvale,p pines,Arundel, parkwood,Carrara, southport . We have been looking at schools online and they seem rather big and have a lot of children attending. Is this normal for qld schools, I thought they were a lot smaller? Does anyone have any good recommendations of schools in those areas? My daughter will be going into year 2, and my son in reception. Any help would be great

    Hi,

we will be moving to the gold coast next year, the state schools have catchment areas, so it might depend on the area you live in.

    Note:

"To enrol in a school that has a School EMP in place, students must meet the eligibility criteria outlined in the school's School EMP document.

All Queensland state schools with a School EMP in place are listed in the menu on the left hand side of this page."

  4. thanks adaminoz, its my partner whos looking for IT work, hes 16yrs in the trade and all certs up to date, he does virtualisation atm so im guessing its a specialised job.. the only trouble with moving around will be moving my 8yr old from school to school which is defo not an option..moving overseas will be daunting enough for him, we had our hearts set on perth but realistically im thinking we need to re look at this, best get OH back pack packed and send him off travelling around oz :) thanks again!!

    Hi Jo,

    A few things:

    • has your partner revised his Cv for OZ?

    • Have you tried networking on LinkedIn?

    • have you had any responses whatsoever, from companies ( ask for feedback)

i'm keen to learn how you get on as i will be going though this process myself next year....if you want someone to cast an eye over his CV, please PM me.....I'm a senior engineer at the place i work now and am forever doing this for internal staff...and i sit in the interview board as the technical bod.

  5. Hi everyone,

As those of you who have sat the IELTS test will know - it's the most annoying, ridiculous test ever! My partner is struggling a little and we were wondering if anyone has any words of wisdom or helpful websites/YouTube videos which would help? He needs to sit the general training. Would really appreciate any help anyone can give!!

    thank you,

    Anna

    Hi Anna,

the website below is very useful, I reckon it helped me pass first time.

  6. Interesting thread, @amibovered.thumbs.gif

    Also, a link to immigration.

In 1947 the average wage was about £5/12/0 and the fare was £10 for adults...2 week's wages.

    Cheers, Bobj.

PS. To activate the £ sign, depress the Alt button and type 156 ...

We oldies aint all that dumb:tongue:

Wow that's crazy Bobj, compared to the costs now - the fare and visa now is more like 2-3 months wages ( at Least, and not including anything else!)

  7. I would seriously urge you to think twice about that! If you're going somewhere you can easily buy second hand furniture, by all means leave all the big stuff behind - but you will be astonished by how much it's going to cost you to replace the absolute multitude of small stuff. A medium Movecube for things like the kids' toys, out-of-season clothes, kitchen stuff, sheets and towels etc will more than pay for itself, though it may not seem like it now.

I hear Ya, I'm pretty good at finding cheap stuff..always have been, and i haven't bought anything here for years ( i knew i moving.)

  8. So far - for a family of 2 Adults and 2 children + 2 dogs

Pre-migration £5,510.00 ( IELTS, Medicals, Visa, PCC, Skills assessment)

    Reccie + visa Validation + flights = £6000

    Migration = £6000 ( pet shipping + one way flight )

that's as far as I've got , wont be shipping anything, selling up and starting again!

  9. I applied for a job to move on somewhere else a few years back (in the UK), I let it slip by pure accident and the mood changed dramatically. It was like "how dare you want to leave". It was such a hostile atmosphere until I left. I should have known how bad it would be because of the way that they spoke about other employees, some of which had left years before.

Now that's out of the way, when I left another company before the one above, they threw a leaving party for me, had a whip around and got me a fantastic parting gift and told me that if there was ever a time I felt like going back then they would move heaven and earth to fit me in somewhere. Additionally, I am still in touch with so many of the people there and still count them as very good friends.

Its apples and oranges, and really depends on how you rate your relationship with your company/boss.

Yep, i agree...I'm just gonna bite the bullet and inform them...I'm smack bang in the middle of a massive project at the Mo...which is going to run for at least another 6 months.

  10. I told mine when I had had my visa approved, I plan on giving them about 4 month notice rather than the 1 that I have to give to allow a full handover to take place after advertising time and interview time etc, but that's because I love where I work and I don't want to leave them or my team in the lurch.

Leah When did you tell them, and when are you going?

  11. I love where I work too. I work in ITU and work with an amazing team. I have never actually told my manager but I have made no secrets of our plans with everyone else and my manager is well aware of what I am up to by hearing through the grapevine. The thing is until I actually had that visa, I wasn't going to Oz, anything could have happened. Happily we got our visa on monday, and I handed my notice in today eeeeek!! Now crazy times to get the house ready to rent and we are off end of next month!

    Awesome....very exciting times for you!!

  12. Just dont tell them. I never told my boss until I gave my usual months notice and resigned. They could make your life hell in the meantime and i have heard of instances of that happening, come up with some excuse to make you redundant before you go (in which case a redundancy package would come in helpful). Would you tell them you are looking for another job? Probably not.

A valid point , although I get on well with my managers , their attitude could change very quickly .

  13. I definitely found it liberating to do that and I was able to frame it as a really long notice or handover period. If your boss is going to be like mine and take it as an opportunity to develop someone else while you are still there, then that is better for them than advertising the position, going through loads of CVs and interviews so it might be appealing to them.

    What do you do?

I work in IT for a large government establishment , in a new role which I started end of last year ( worked here for 5 years) . Problem is some of our customers are friends of friends , And it's becoming hard to hide. I would say they definitely depend on my skills , but no one is irreplaceable .

  14. When should I tell my employer of my migration plans ? 12,6,3 months before ...or just give standard notice ?

as the 12 months countdown begins to my Emigration , it becomes harder to hide from my employer .... And I'd like to start networking .

  15. Thanks Kevin, much appreciated...hope the move goes well

    Hi Martin

Hopefully transferring with my company in the Summer (UK). Will be based in Melbourne, so not in the direct area. Have sent you a linkedin invite. I find it invaluable to use as a networking tool and use it rather than agencies for finding work direct.

  17. Hi Lee,

if your in no rush you can wait for a CO to be assigned then arrange your medicals and PCC. just remember you will require a visit to activate your visa , usually one year from the date your pcc or medical was completed ( which ever was first).

no need to certify documents , as long as you upload colour docs.

Ps ..i waited 6 weeks for a CO to be assigned.
