  1. Apologies in advance for an extremely long post, but this has been such a helpful forum for me that after submitting my final top up degree assignment today I thought it was time to put all the information I've read on here to some use I've been weighing up options RE visa and anmac/ahpra, if anyone can offer advice on the below I'd be really grateful I'm about to book my ielts so this could affect whether or not I do the general (more likely to get higher points) or the academic if I go via New Zealand trans tasman route... Option 1 is to apply for nursing registration through New Zealand and then get trans Tasman registration with Australia through AHPRA and do modified anmac which will enable me to apply for visas for myself, husband and toddler (this is the more costly option) Option 2 is to wait for my top up degree, send in my diploma transcripts and degree transcripts (Hertfordshire uni for adult nursing diploma completed 2013 and Bedfordshire uni for my degree just finished) and do full anmac assessment and visa and leave ahpra till we're closer to having the visa granted We've also been in contact with an immigration agent who has advised us to simply do it with my top up degree but wants either £2,500 for a full service or £1,500 for a light touch where they simply answer questions and check paperwork before we submit it... Thanks for reading my assignment [emoji23]
  2. Thank you, I've been looking at the recent thread but due to the name change and caution I wasn't sure whether it was s good idea to do it independently - I'm quite happy with doing the application myself (I worked as a paralegal years ago so know my way around paperwork haha) I'd love to do it myself as well to save the money and put it towards the medicals but not if it jeopardizes our chances of gaining entry x
  3. Hi, We're looking to apply for a 189 visa (I'm a qualified nurse in the uk) but we're not sure whether to use an agent or not. My name was changed by deedpoll when I was 2 years old, then when my mam remarried I took on her new name with the view of being adopted, however my biological father stopped this from happening (this means that I used an unofficial name from the age of 5-15 ie through school until I opened my first bank account). I also received a caution for shoplifting aged 16 (my ex partner stole from a shop and put it in my bag) which was never more than a caution but I have been warned it can show up under an enhanced CRB check. I have never had any convictions and have proved good standing and been a registered nurse for 5 years now (there have never been any concerns from employers etc). I am now 30 years old and looking to emigrate with my husband (No convictions and no name changes thank god) and our 2 year old daughter, but I'm a bit worried about doing it independently due to the above mentioned factors. Any advice anyone can offer is greatly appreciated (and yes I am aware that I was an idiot at 16). Thanks in advance x
  4. Thank you for your help My university have given me a certificate containing my transcript on as well as my diploma certificate when I qualified so I'm hoping this will mean I can speed up the process (my university are apparently extremely slow in processing applications for transcripts) I should have completed the final course by February so we are being optimistic by aiming for September but we have set ourselves the goal so that we are organised in getting all the documents etc together Are you able to advice on whether it would be better to take the IELTS or the pearsons? We have been advised to complete this by Taylor Hamptons to bump our points up but the pearsons appears to be much smoother for me when I completed the practice exams online x Sent using Poms in Oz mobile app
  5. We've contacted Taylor Hampton Solicitors based in London as recommended by a friend, who are an Asutralian Chartered Migration Agents x Sent using Poms in Oz mobile app
  6. Any advice is appreciated We've contacted a solicitors who believes this should be fine but I just hoped someone on here might know Any advice on general emigration from the UK to oz? We are looking at Brisbane and have been reading up but things do seem extremely different compared to everyday life - reading up on the slang terms have had me and my partner in stitches as were pretty sure we may end up saying some rude things by accident haha Sent using Poms in Oz mobile app
  7. I've been working as a qualified nurse for a number of years so have plenty of experience in acute settings and A&E - as mentioned I will technically have a degree so this is what I was confused at as it will be without the honours part of it but still a bachelor's of degree of nursing x Sent using Poms in Oz mobile app
  8. Hi, Sorry if this has been asked before but I'm trying to get things organised for my application. I'm currently a diploma registered nurse (qualified in 2010) and only need to do 1 more course to be degree qualified. This means that I will be degree qualified/have a bachelor's degree without honours - does anyone know if this is eligible for registration with anmac/APHRA? I've emailed them, but their reponse was simply that a bachelor's degree was required so my understanding is that this means I will be qualified and eligible to register once my final course is completed We are looking tto apply for a 189 skilled visa and head to Brisbane around September 2018 if all goes to plan. Me and my husband will be 29 and 30 at the time and our daughter will be 2 years old. Any advice will be much appreciated Amy Sent using Poms in Oz mobile app
  9. Thanks for the replies I want to go for a permanent visa and know the hospital I want to work in (Princess Alexandra in Woolloongabba) so will email them asking for their advice when I've managed to arrange any documents etc I may need I've lived in the UK since birth and have completed all of my education here so would that mean I am exempt from the IELTS? How do they assess skills for the permanent visa? I've recently qualified so I am currently completing a preceptorship in the trust I work for which has skill certificates for further training as I complete the course if that helps? It's a massive weight off if the Diploma is considered an Aus degree as thought that may cause some complications Do you happen to know if I were to start the application process now if I could hold off the move date until 2015? x
  10. Hi everyone, I know this is basically asking the same questions as everyone else seems to have asked but after looking through all of the different information and on the Australian Nursing website I've got to admit that I'm a bit confused lol I qualified in September 2013 as an adult nurse on the diploma course from a UK university. I would love to move to Woolloongabba in say 2015and start a career as a nurse but have no idea where to start - looking at all the information available online there's so much to take in with regards to applying and if diploma is accepted as being fully qualified??? :\ I know this is pretty much a repeat of other threads but I thought I would start a recent thread since the applications have changed recently Any advice (even on costs of daily living etc) would be great Thanks xx p.s I have a small dog that I don't think I could leave behind and a partner (we're not married and he has no "professional skills" to transfer) so any info on this would help a lot x
