  1. Hi all i'm around 18 months into my 2 years of my 187 visa and have recently found out I'm pregnant which we're overjoyed at! The thing I have concerning me is my employer. They're not especially being supportive and I've started to dread going in each day. They have changed my role too many times for me to mention (mostly prior to pregnancy, but also since) that I don't even know what job title I should be using. This is not what I signed up for, (or indeed what immi have me down as doing)but I know as well as they do that they have me over a barrel. Can they get rid of me by saying they don't need someone in the sponsored job anymore? Or tell immi themselves, even though they changed my role to what they sponsored me in?? I'm in such a mess mentally that I don't know where to turn. I'm trying to just go in, do my job & go home again, but I'm finding it so hard & stressful with the attitude & abruptness I'm receiving. Can anyone also advise on how long before my due date I can go on maternity leave? I just need out... Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
  2. Hi, I've only been on my 187 visa for less than 2 months, and it's just been announced this week that the business is being sold. Does anyone know where I stand with this? The scenarios going through my head are : a) if I lose my job, how long have I got to find another, and does it have to be the same job as per my visa and one the same contract terms? b) if I keep my job under new management and I things change to the point I want to leave, if I find someone to take over my sponsorship does this have to be for the same role? Im im hoping things go smoothly and changes are minimal, but want to be prepared for the worst! Any help or advice would be appreciated! Thanks
  3. The stream it comes under is Cafe or Restaurant Manager which just requires 'a level of skill commensurate with an AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma'. I believe my BA (hons) degree covers this. Hopefully! Ok, I'll expect to wait for the longer term then- i think it's going to be a stressful 6 months! Thanks
  4. I don't need to do a skills assessment for the area my visa is in, but do need my degree certificate which is what i'm waiting for. That is of course if I've understood things right! So am i right in saying that I'll hear absolutely nothing for 6-8 months? Such a painful wait
  5. Hi I submitted my visa application for a 187 yesterday and straight after submitted my form to Request Permission to work for an employer for longer than 6 months. Does anyone have any experience on timescales to get approved or if there are many cases where this has been denied? I only have 12 more days I can work for my current employer. Thanks
  6. Thank you. All submitted now- qualification certificates on route from UK so will add when received. Do you know how long it roughly takes for a case officer to be assigned and roughly how long after this(provided no document delays) does a decision come through? Thanks
  7. Hi My employer is still waiting for their 'finalisation' to be received of the nomination submitted for my 187 RSMS visa, but because I only have 2 weeks left that I am able to work for my employer of the 6 months allowed on my WHV i am having to submit my application now to ensure I get the form in on time to request permission to continue working for my employer past the 6 months. (states you need to do this at least 2 weeks before your employment has to cease, and that you need to submit your visa application before you request to extend employment) I thought i had all my documents, but now I'm not sure. I have a certified copy of my birth certificate & passport, UK & Australia police checks, form 80, CV and online application completed & ready to go. What I'm now unsure of is do I need to include previous employer references and qualification certificates?? If I do, and as I don't have these to hand, if I submit without these is it likely to be rejected? Or will they ask for them at a later date if requested? Definitely going into panic mode now- any help or previous experience stories much appreciated! Thanks
  8. Thanks- form filled out & ready to send
  9. Hi So i'm currently in the process of going through the 187 visa process and was hoping someone could shed some light for me on a few questions... Bit of background... My employer submitted my application to Migration NT in November 13 which was approved in December 13. My employer then submitted my application to Immigration on 9th December 13 which is where it's currently at. Because I'm currently on my 2nd Year Working Holiday Visa, I only have around 3 weeks left that I'm allowed to work for my employer as there is a 6 month max set, though my current visa does not expire until Aug 14. If I submit my application during the next few weeks, will I be automatically put on a bridging visa that will enable me to continue working for my current employer? Obviously I'm aware that there is the risk that if I submit my application before it's approved with my employer and it is denied, i stand to lose the visa fee. Fully prepared to take the knock, but what are the chances of it not being approved by immigration if it's already been approved by Migration NT? Hoping someone can help Thanks Bean x
