@Dragonflygecko  Hey there!! I was wondering if you could help me with information for my application!! I have worked in childcare for the last 5 years but only 2 of these have been as an assistant director in a management role. The other job roles were as a childcare educator and early childhood teacher. Would I still be able to apply for the TRA assessment or would I fail it?

I am trying to find out how much experience I need in the specific role but cannot find it anywhere!! Would I need to be a childcare manager to apply? Please help!!

    Thanks!!

    Hi there!

M you will definitely need a minimum of 3 years management experience to qualify, TRA state that on their website and at least a diploma qual. Have you looked at the job ready program? That might be more suitable? If you are doing all the jobs of a director from ANZSCO 134111 then it will be sufficient but only after 3 years.

    Hope pe that helps ?

@Dragonflygecko I meant to ask,  did you use an agent? If so,  when you got the news,  were you emailed personally or did you not know until your agent contacted you?

@Yikes2017 I did use an agent and this is something that drove me crazy! I always wondered if she was away/finished work etc would I know immediately! I got the call from her at 9.30am the day it was granted! So there is some delay others who applied themselves had the email in the middle of the night! Anyways if you don't hear by 10am each day you can assume it's not your day ?

  3. Hey @joeh99 I honestly can't believe you lot are still waiting it's crazy, but I do think you'll hear in the next couple of days. Have you checked people who applied the same day/day after you? Pretty much everyone who applied the same day or either side of me were granted a day or two apart. I know the feeling, honestly there is nothing worse. Like I've said before it would be so helpful to know if the visa is going through stages of processing rather than fearing the worst that it might be rejected! That was my biggest fear was for them to say no!

Planning is going well, my team know I am leaving now and my replacement will step up in about 5 weeks- they weren't too happy about the replacement but hey ho! We've organised accommodation on the Gold Coast for the first 3 weeks and we're hopeful we can secure a long term rental in that time frame O.o We also ordered a movecube..

    Have you booked flights yet?

  4. I'm so surprised that none of you have heard anything yet! :arghh:I thought i'd be in the same boat waiting until after July 1st but thankfully mine just came through at the end of may. Looks like they are a bit delayed this year, but probably because of so many changes. Plus we must think they have to get through last years applications asap that may be running out e.g. medicals/police checks. Honestly once you have the visa you won't know what to do with yourself. I'm constantly checking back here to see if anyone I've been chatting to have received theirs yet. It's still surreal, I can't believe we fly in 7 weeks. @Yikes2017 is your daughter starting reception? If so would you not wait until February where she can start school in Oz- if you plan to be there by then that is? It would be awful confusing for your little one to start here and then move mid year and start again. I have a little boy in my preschool who turns 5 in August and will stay with us until November when he will move to Canada for reception there.

Fingers crossed for all of you. I think they will start happening tonight! Come on the grant fairy! :jiggy:

    Hi Dragonflygecko,

    Thanks for your reply.

As I'm in Australia, I wonder whether the 'Management experience; Minimum 3 years with at least 20 children ranging from 0-6years' can be replaced by the JOB READY PROGRAM here in Australia?  Who did you contact to get the exact criteria for Skilled Migration under CCC?

    Your response is much appreciated!

    Hi Sunnykirana,

Yes if you have studied the Diploma of Children's Services in Australia and are offered a position in Management (Director or Assistant Director) you can transition onto the 'Job Ready Program' which is for recent graduates I think you need to be guaranteed a job for 18-24 months in that position so needs to be full time permanent. Contact Trades Recognition Australia, they are the assessing authority for CCC Manager for skilled migration and the ones who issue the Job Ready Program. I would say without prior experience it would be fairly difficult to walk into a management position straight from the diploma, but perhaps in regional Australia they may be crying out for these positions.

    Good luck!

  6. So immi only grant 190,000 skilled visas per year that's their max. They've already invited over that number so only the first 190,000 will be granted then once the quota has been filled they wait for the new financial year to begin- 1st of July. Every year in May/June  the visa grant comes to a halt, usually mid June they stop issuing visas. Joeh99 based on mine and others I think you should hear by the 20th June if quotas aren't filled before then. I've been in the same situation, everyday thinking 'is it today' checking emails, tracker, forums, etc driving myself insane. It's such a painful experience to go through and I really wish it was clearer. Although in the end once you get the visa, you have no idea what to do with yourself and the waiting is so worth it to have that email : "congratulations you've been granted a 189 skilled independent visa- stay : indefinitely."

They didn't give us much time though entry date was before 03/10 and grant was 25/5

  7. Stay in there guys. I have to admit it was the most painful wait ever. 13 weeks & 2 days from lodging but finally when it came through I almost died. I'm still in shock and don't know what to do with myself now, we have to wait 3 months to go due to work but when it comes honestly there's no better feeling. Be aware everything has slowed down as skilled migration quotas are near max. Wishing all of you a grant email next week ???

Amazing news Dragonflygecko, congratulations. Thanks for letting us know the result.

my wife has been contact with a large company in OZ and has a Skype interview on Tuesday next week. After seeing her CV they are very interested in sponsoring her. So her qualifications ( BA hons in early years education) are with ACECQA now getting assessed for diploma level. And I hope there is a positive outcome from the interview.

fingers crossed we might not be to far behind you.

Hi Lucas, that's great news. I have no doubt the BA will equate to at least diploma or advanced diploma level. Good luck with the interview process... ☺️

@sunnykirana- Sorry for the delay I didn't get a notification of a new post. I didn't do the job ready program as you need to be in Oz, have studied the diploma there and been offered a managers position.

    The criteria for TRA to be successful for skilled migration under CCC Manager is;

Management experience; Minimum 3 years with at least 20 children ranging from 0-6years with the all the duties and responsibilities from ANZSCO 134111 and a diploma level early childhood education qual.

    Hope pe this helps. ?

  9. Aw that's good then at least you'll know in a months' time. I was hoping to 'top up' my FDA over there but with the new international fees even for permanent residents I think I'll pass! I would really like to get into teaching/tutoring Cert 3 and Diploma in Children's Services students but will probably wait the four years until we gain citizenship. There are some parts of GC which are considered regional, for example Nerang and Mt Tamborine. So you'd only need to work there and you could live in Surfers, Burleigh, Upper Coomera or wherever you wanted. I am going to have a little look at jobs now that I have the visa, I applied for one the other day but heard nothing back obv because I was so far away with no visa...! :biglaugh:

  10. You might be good with the cache level 3 and higher certificate to achieve diploma level. When did you submit? Yeah it's highly unlikely unless you had 20 children 0-6 registered to your childminders. I have 3 qualifications (Montessori, level 3, & foundation degree) but ACECQA only assessed level 3. Where do you hope to go? X

  11. With the recent changes I would get your application in ASAP. Fingers crossed your qual is diploma level, what is your qualification? Yes for TRA you need to manage a nursery with at least 20 children 0-6 years old. Yes TRA is the assessing authority. It cost $1,000 for the skills assessment. We're booking flights for 2nd September going to the Gold Coast. Can't fully believe it yet! ??

Oh wow big congratulations u must be so excited!!! Can I ask what prove of work experience you had to provide? Was it just references from your employer x

Oh words can't describe the feeling- honestly were over the moon. I'm still in shock, our case wasn't clear cut. For my work evidence I sent off hundreds of documents to prove experience such as employment statement, payslips, bank statements, salary increase letters, bonuses & awards, emails, ofsted report, p60/p45, professional development certificates, supervision, apprasial forms. Everything that linked me to being in management basically. Have you started the process lparker? ?

  13. Okay friends, I can finally share and clarify. My application was successful we have now been granted a 189 skilled independent visa on 134111 Childcare Centre Manager with diploma level qualification and over 3 years experience. Over the freaking moon! :)

@Lparker15 to qualify for childcare centre manager with TRA you'd need to have children ranging from 0-6 minimum of 20 of them to be considered. You're self employed too which poses an additional problem trying to prove it all. Check out the registration requirements for pre primary school teacher in the state you wish to move to as you definitely need teaching practice. Try another university if the open university doesn't include this.

  15. @Lucas2017 It's hard to know but I think you're right, the degree was needed if you didn't have 5 years experience as a manager which can substitute the qualification. TRA guidelines now are diploma level qualification + 3 years post qualifying experience managing a nursery with minimum of 20 children. My qualification was assessed as an "approved diploma level education & care qualification" by ACECQA. How confusing though! Surely it should be just clear cut like other professions. :arghh:

  16. Wow that's quite worrying! Did you have an agent at the time? I know that TRA have upped their assessment process as they require you to have worked for at least 3 years specifically the last 12 months experience in a nursery a minimum of 20 children from 0-6 years. That's pretty annoying though if TRA gave you positive and they are the assessing authority they should be correct like. I emailed TRA back in 2015 and they stated the above. I have been invited to apply for my visa yesterday so I hope that things have changed and they're not going to fail me because of no degree. Your right though either you use the NNEB and experience otherwise you won't pass as the degree was obtained after the experience so that won't be relevant. Apply to ACECQA or have a look at their qualification checker online it might already be there, then as the others have suggested speak to an agent.

  17. Hi

Big thanks for positing this information.

So my wife and I are about to apply under the child care centre manager as well.

Back in 2008 we had a successful TRA as a child care coordinator, this was based on a qualification at NNEB level 3,

however my wife didn't really have the work experience at manager level. But we thought we would take a chance, but the final decision was NO :(

On our final decision letter they explained she did not have the right experience, which we kind of expected BUT they also provided the skill level for

the position as requiring a degree, yet stated we had a favourable decision from TRA as a child centre coordinator.

So we are now so confused do you need a degree or not????

At this point we are somewhat older and need more points.

So we are hoping that the level 3 NNEB is still enough plus the 8 years work experience as a nursery manger is OK.

My wife does have a BA Hons in early years but did not complete this until 2015 ( 7.5 years part time study), so if they take this as the date qualified

then she will not have enough work experience.

Its so confusing and we are worried that we will spend thousands of $ and get to the end and they say you need a degree...

Any light you shed on this will be most helpful.

    Thanks

Hi Lucas, can I ask first who said final decision was no immigration or TRA?

  18. I think it's because they assess it as a trade rather than education tbh! I was looking at the same route if this failed, I emailed around a couple of the big childcare centres in regional Australia (but not completely outback!) asking for advice regarding sponsorship and had a couple of emails back- which I was surprised by. They told me to have my qualifications assessed by ACECQA and then get back to them with the outcome and we could proceed. I lived in Oz for two years in the past and that have jobs there listed on my CV so I think employers know I have been there and it's not just a dream. For the 'Pre-Primary School Teacher' skilled visa you would need a 4 year degree in Early Years/Early Childhood no need for PGCE unless you were wanting to teach in Primary or if you had lets say a non-education degree you would need the PGCE to top up and specialise in Early Years to get that visa if that makes sense?
