Another weekend of waiting for us......
-
Congrats!!! We lodged 2 days behind you so hopefully our case is nearing the top of the pile!
-
Getting frustrating! Especially since people who lodged in May are now receiving grants! Good things come to those who wait i guess.....
-
Medicals done:-)) how long until our 189 visa comes through?????
rossco2810 replied to Pasteypoms's topic in Visa Chat
We had our meds on 16/5/14 & submitted PCC at end of May and we are still waiting :-S -
Good stuff, our CO should be looking at all the requested docs any day now then. cheers
-
Benn When you say 28 days do you mean they won't do anything until 28 days after they ask for documents or after documents are uploaded?
-
Danielle we are waiting too - our agent said things slow down at the end of the year and she doesnt expect much to happen before 1st July :-(

Bob, Having (almost) accepted having to stomach the increase in quarantine fees I'm now trying to find out what the increase in the Import Permit fee is but the DAFF website is very confusing. Has it increased by $120? Thanks Ross
-
So we have a case officer and as of tonight all of the medical / police paperwork etc will be uploaded. Case officer hasnt requested any more information as far as im aware. Whats a rough idea of time it takes from having everything sent to the case officer & then receiving a grant? Is it days, weeks or months? Just looking for peoples recent experiences so I can give my wife a rough timescale or i think she will explode lol Thanks Ross

Bob, I'm not sure I understand what you mean? For our cat the cost has gone from 30 days @ $29/day ($870) down to 10 days @ $29/day ($290) and now up to 10 days @ $149/day ($1490). So the cat will be staying in quarantine 66% less time but we will pay 71% more?!? And then I find out that they are increasing the import permit fee by an inflation smashing 15% too? It really does beggar belief. I hope people start bombarding their postal address with photos of their animals who, like us, they probably wont be able to afford to take with them now.

I can feel a standard "this was a legacy of the last Government" statement being released
-
Absolute joke. I wonder how the immediate drop in animals imported will affect their cost figures? How they can consider a cat being the same cost as a dog is beyond me.
-
Congrats! We have our meds on Friday & police checks sent away last week so hoping we wont be too far behind you!
-
Gtaylor30 - see second tab on this page http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-skilled-migration/estimated-allocation-times.htm
-
Case officer has asked for us to undertake medicals & police checks. Touch wood no request for Form 80..............yet
-
Don't lose heart! The Immi website says the Case Officer has 2 weeks to inform of their appointment so it might be that you have one and he/she is checking through your front loaded documents. My agent didnt front-load anything so we will have stopped at the first square on the board as it were!
-
We were only asked for the agent authorisation form at this stage
-
:-) we got a case officer
-
edit: WE are still waiting! (forgot about the wife!)

Found the article: http://www.daff.gov.au/bsg/biosecurity-fee-review-2014/post-entry-quarantine-animal-imports-non-horse Their reasoning does not make sense - how can a cat cost the same as a dog? The cost to feed a cat must be 1/4 that of a dog & they can fit many more cats into their building thus generating more income which balances out the lower fees. Furthermore the drop in length of stay from 30 days to 10 days surely means with the same capacity they can increase the number of pets they take in roughly threefold? Therefore surely a moderate increase in the entry/exam fees etc would make more sense? It is incredible that they have not (a) not reviewed their fees for 5 years & (b) want to correct this by one large rate change!

Signed the petition and will get the wife to do the same. Is there a news article on this or is it insider knowledge Bob? If theres an article it may be worth circulating that too to gain more interest. The reduction in quarantine days had just about made it affordable for us to take our cat with us next year but if this comes in......it doesnt bear thinking about
-
Is this for all pets? that is an incredible sum of money for what is effectively kennels/cattery with an examination etc thrown in. With the recent saving from 30 day stay reducing to 10 days it smacks of 'The lord giveth, then the lord tries to taketh away again!'

We are looking to put a few chests of drawers in a movecube - are we allowed to leave stuff inside the drawers etc? I emailed sevenseas but they said i need to phone them. How 1900 lol

our agent is submitting our visa on Monday. cannot wait!
