  2. Hi I have been twice and you get out of it what you want. Lots of info so its worth it and im now awaiting my visa which iv sorted without an agent due to the info I got from the expo and my own research. Is worth the free eligibility assessment too x
  3. Your brother could sponsor you on a family sponsored visa, or cgeck out if your job is on the consolidated skills list in the Australian immigration website then you could try and get emplyer or state sponsored. Nay be worth getting a free eligibility assessment done by an immigration agent. Loads of info in Australia magazine too. Good luck! !
  4. Just an uodate got my letter of determination 07/05/2014 just lodged EOI for visa! Getting nervous now!!
  5. Thats good to know hopefully mine wont be long!
  6. Im still waiting and I sent my application in jan. Its been 12 weeks. But its now changed to 16 weeks. It's very frustrating as if you do email them which I did as I had to send a document that I forgot they are quite rude and wont tell you if they have received additional documents or how long your assessment might be. I really dont understand what takes so long. Must be sheer volume of applicants!!
  7. Hey everyone, Just a quick question, does anyone know if there is a delay for ANMAC skills assessment?? I sent all my stuff to them early January, and then it said it takes 6-8 weeks to process the assessment, I've now heard its taking up to 12 weeks!! Just wondering if anyone else has any experience with this process and if its taken this long with others. Thanks
  8. Hi. Could anyone tell me if my husband needs to do the english test. Im applying EOI as a nurse for the 189 have done my skills assessment but just wondered if he will need engluah test. He wont be contributing to the points. Appreciate your help x
  9. Yes hopefully a job will pop up in queensland but in the mean time I will apply to all the states I like the sound of!!! ;-) and there is abit of a difference in pay from what iv seen. I read an article last night about perths nurses being the best pay now as they just won a battle for pay rise?!
  10. Thanks both for your advice its goid to get it from someone that is over there in the profession. I have definitely taken on board what flathead said just wondered if anyone suggested other states, or had anymore info. But yes your right we will definitely get jobs before the move wether its queensland or NSW or western oz. I think the hardest part is choosing where will be best to actually live but I suppose making the move and getting the job is the main aim then explore once there??
  11. Yes Caloundra does sound amazing but basically we will go where the work is, we chose Queensland as it sounds reasonable compared to Perth and Sydney for living, however if the nursing situation is as bad as flathead said we may have to re think?? Its hard to know where you want to live till your there! However, we wouldnt go without job offers too risky!
  12. Hey all, I am currently going through the skilled visa process, I am a registered nurse working in community, and my husband is in construction. We looked at going to Perth and surrounding areas for a while then at down under live expo found that the cost of living is really high in Perth now, however, looks as if Nurses are paid the highest there now? So we investigated and have set our sights on Queensland. We want to be near the city but not quite in the centre, but we will go wherever the work is. However a member on here has recently mentioned that there have been redundancies for nurses in Queensland and QLD Health arn't recruiting much now. However, community nursing is on the shortage list. We Like the look of sunshine coast but like I mentioned before we will live near the work. We do like the sound of Melbourne but that would be a needs must place if we were struggling to find work. Does anyone know much about this situation in Queensland or have any advice on the best areas that work as a nurse and construction would be in. I think there is loads of opportunity in the West (Perth), and maybe I was being naive but thought nursing was sought after all over Oz? Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks Toni:unsure:
  13. Than you flat head. Where do you suggest is good for nursing. We did look at perth but its really expensive there now so iv been told?
  14. Margaret thats really helpful thank you. surf and sea no we haven't jobs yet but hope to have before we go. I know that both your wife and your professions are in demand. Have you been to the down under live expo? Thats really useful they have loads of info on jobs and on the website. Train 4 trade skills would be good to look at aswell for carpentry. My husband is in construction so hes looking into trade agencies etc. Were planning on sunshine coast caloundra area. Its seems close enough to brisbane but not too far and sounds lovely. Do you have visas sorted yet?
  15. Hello, I am a community nurse and my husband works in construction, we are going through the visa process now and hope to be moving from the UK to Queensland in September. However, does anyone have any advice on companies or places to contact prior to arriving (hopefully sunshine coast area) where we can arrange some temporary accommodation and how we will arrange a car asap. Iv heard that relocation agents are good however were trying to keep the cost down. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you Toni
  16. Hey, can anyone help and advise on how to arrange some temporary accomodation in Queensland, ideally sunshine coast area or around Brisbane, as myself and my husband are going through the visa process and planning to move September time but I'm really concerned about finding a furnished rental until we find what we want once over there! Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you Toni x:wink:
  17. Hi, Im new to this forum but myself and husband are about to start the skilled visa process. Firstly I am doing the skills assessment before lodging the EOI, however does anyone know when and how we are supposed to get medicals and police checks done?? Would be grateful for any advice. p.s we are also in two minds whether to use and agent, we both work full time and the thought of all this organising is overwhelming however I've seen that a few people are doing it themselves, any advice on this would be appreciated. Thanks :twitcy:
