  1. Yeah we're thinking of Bardon/indooroopilly area. Definitely, will be nice to make friends in the same boat! How freaky!!! I'm moving to Indooroopilly )))) I'm renting with some friends tht are already there...You ever been before? It's prob the best suburb I saw when I was there in terms of access to ameneties
  2. Jasky you should get an email directly from your Case Officer to the email address you provided on the application form. In that email if they require any further documentation they will request that from you as well Javi1979 you are off to Brisbane too? Great! We should meet up once we are settled haha
  3. I wasn't aware they could be done online within the UK I read everywhere and they said the it had to be done through ACRO and via a printed form that you fill out and send across. Good to know that you can do it online it must be much more efficient!
  4. Javi1979 not sure about when I am moving, hoping to be out of here by April but a relative of mine is having a baby so contemplating staying for the birth which is in June! So will have to see how my planning goes in terms of what I can get done preparing for the move! I am fixed on a location though, heading to Brisbane QLD, was there for a year two years ago...loved it and have some friends already there so will be staying with them What about you?
  5. Thank you everyone )) It hasn't yet sunk in I don't think...plus now it means have to start all the other malarky of sorting stuff to send, shipping, banking, etc etc....haha LadyB, I'm not sure how the 190 differs from the 189 visa, but if the visa requirements show that a medical will be required it might be an idea to get it done becos they will request one from you anyway if it is a requirement. The only time you might want to wait for CO request is if you have any conditions, because then you will need a specific type of medical test. I had TB a few years ago so I had to have other checks done as well. If I recall correctly, I had the LogIn for the online visa thing as soon as I was invited to apply, so I reckon you should be able to fill in the medical questionnaire which determines what sort of a medical you require, it will then give you a HAP ID which will allow you to book your medical. I booked my medical before the CO requested it as the questionnaire outlined the type of medical I needed to have done. I can't remember where exactly I got the link for that from though pretty sure it was a straight forward link that just appeared on the account page along the lines of "determine whether you need a medical examination". My advice on booking the medical is to go for one that does e-medical if you have the option (so submits your results online for you rather than gives you the results in paperform - it's much quicker and one less thing for you to send off) Also advice to anyone who hasn't yet been assigned a CO and is waiting for a "request of additional documents", start filling in the Form 80 incase they request this from you. It is a very long form and asks for quite a bit of history so if you get started now...it'll be easier for you. Luckily I started collating info for mine early but didn't think they would ask me for it and I would be lucky, but sods law they wanted it! Either way there's no harm in filling it in. Also you are free to upload it anyway even if they don't request it, so they have more info and less likely to ask for more! Hope the above is of some use to someone
  6. Woohooo Congratulations javi1979!!! I didn't email CO as was going to wait a week til I did that....BUT....I woke up this morning to a grant notification letter!!!!!! Over the moon!! :jiggy: Hopefully all those others who had their statuses changed on the 6th to "received" also had their grants come through!!! Congratulations to everyone who has, and for those who haven't yet had it, worry not I'm sure it will come through soon...)
  7. Looks like there is three of us in that boat!!! Mine had been stuck on "required" for ages since before Xmas, and then only yesterday like yours it changed to "received"... I think we can safely assume someone has looked at our files again )) Hopefully within a few days we should hear something! My CO is from Adelaide Team 4, I've read that this team is quite hard to get hold of! I've emailed 3 times with no reply so must be true haha...I will take the advice of Sumit though and wait a week before calling them if I can locate a number that works as the one on my CO letter doesn't work
  8. Hi Guys! I've recently been assigned a case officer from the Adelaide Team 4 too...At the same time I was sent a request for documents. I submitted most of the certified documents that were required when I filled in the application form however the medicals and PCC were outstanding as far as I was aware. I arranged for my medical at the beginning of December and the results were submitted on 4th December. The request for documents I received was: Evidence of Character Overseas Police Clearance Australian Fed Police Clearance Form 80 Evidence of Health Thought it was a little strange that they were still requesting evidence of health when my medicals were complete?! Anyone else had this issue? I emailed the Case Office with my query but have not had a response and after alot of people experiences on here I am assuming I wont get one very soon either so I am trying to figure out what to do in the meantime. Does anyone know the difference between "Evidence of Character" and "Overseas Police Clearance"?? A bit of history to give light on my situation...Born in the UK, lived here my whole life, british citizen, the only time I have lived out of the UK is when I was on a work and travel visa for Australia however I was not there for the full 12 months so again not sure why they are requesting the 3 document from me... From what I have read, the only evidence of character I need to submit should be a UK Police clearance because I've not stayed in any other country for longer than 12 months.... Please could anyone shed some light on what they are requesting so that I can try sort it out as soon as possible as I've only been given 28 days to provide all this documentation Any help is appreciated!
  9. Hi Levi, Thanks for all the info!! Yes I've noticed a lot of people are rating ICAA higher which surprises me... I've read all the previous pages and have already contacted my university as per grahamffc idea and unfortunately the university have not come back to me. I am still waiting but I am pretty sure they will not comply with the request. That letter really is the key to getting a positive assessment but...will have to see... I really want to appeal but need enough paperwork for that so counting on the university letter. If that fails I might choose to re-submit my paperwork to ICAA and see what they come back with...alternatively sit the Accounting Theory paper with CPA...there's still a few options, some however are more preferred
  10. Ah ok, yeh I guess that makes sense if you are aware of their methods ...Unfortunately I have UK degree so wouldn't fall into the category you are looking for......I believe my brother used GoMatilda for his application, except he then changed his mind about moving after he had all the paperwork!! If only I was in his shoes!!!
  11. Alan, I tried various agencies, no one was willing to take me on until I had a positive skills assessment so without that I am on my own and looking for help on such forums...
  12. Hmmm...maybe it's worth a shot then...it's just a lot of money to throw away if I am not sure whether they will accept the contents of my degree to have covered "Accounting Theory"...so unsure
  13. Hi Alan, I checked the list of modules on ICAA and they are exactly the same as CPA so I would assume the outcome would be exactly the same ...IPA seem to have a slightly different name for certain modules so that MIGHT work, although it's not really clear from their website what topics need to be covered in order to fulfill a particular module...
  14. Hi Levi, My occupation is Finance Manager, I have done an accounting degree back in 2007 and have worked in Finance ever since... I am not aware of the other assessing authorities unfortunately, and I only knew about CPA so I went to them to have my assessment done. Came back negative and so I@m trying to think of what to do to avoid sitting a further exam in "Accounting Theory" which is the core knowledge area I am missing for Accountant General. Some other threads I have read, people have advised that CPA seem to always say this core area is missing for overseas candidates, which is unfair if it is true. My understanding is that the Accounting Theory module is the basics of accounting, now if you have done financial accounting and management accounting plus finance in depth you will have covered the basics right?! I've covered all those modules in depth for 2 years in my degree yet according to CPA I do not have the Accounting Theory knowledge. I didn;t realise the modules had different names with the other assessing bodies, so I will look into that to see if my modules are more related to their outlines than CPA and see if it's worth sending it through to them instead of CPA! Maybe someone who has had their assessment done through either IPA or ICAA can help and advise how successful they were...? I would assume that Quantitative Methods is statistics...I did a stats module and I believe that's the one that counted towards the Quantitative Methods module
  15. Hi Levi, I have just had my assessment result back from CPA. The fees are dependent on where you are applying from. When I applied (June 2013) the fees were as follows: Australia AUD$490 (GST inclusive) New Zealand NZD$605 (NZ GST inclusive) Any other location AUD$445 So I paid $445, but not sure what that would be in Sterling as I paid in dollars.
