  1. Hi Saini, I wrote that the number of invitations for subclass 189 in general for 24th March has been increased to 2000 and not for 2633 specifically. Did you get an invite?
  2. Yes, the number of invitations per round has been increased to 2000 for subclass 189.
  3. Hi Marsh, You are 23-24 yrs old so you will get 25 points. Plus 10 points for your trades qualification subject to positive assessment. If you get an 8 in each of the 4 modules of IELTS, you end up with 55 points. I hope you will be able to justify the 5 points with your relevant work experience. If you dont meet the 60 points mark, subclass 489 is not a bad option since victoria allows the family sponsored visa holders to live and work in any city/area of the state!!!
  4. Hi, It depends on the total number of seats available. Currently, the occupation ceiling depicts the invitations given out to subclass 189 & family sponsored 489. If there were only 5 invites for cook, than that means only 5 applied.
  5. 2000 seats for subclass and ONLY 15 for Family sponsored subclass 489????????? last year they gave around 1400 invites to family sponsored subclass 489, I wonder what they are thinking of doing this year, considering the fact that only 7 rounds are left.....
  6. Hi, It means that for any occupation, the minimum quota has been set to 1000 allocations and not less than that.
  7. Hi All, Today, the minimum occupation ceilings have been raised to a minimum of 1000 seats, plus the invitations issued to subclass 190 & 489 (state) have also been subtracted from the total invitations given so far in any occupation. They have further reduced the allocations for subclass 489 (Family sponsored stream) to a mere 15.....WTH!!!!!
  8. Why is skill select not giving out the report for 10th March???
  9. Hi Millholl, It's better if you take your IELTS test again, otherwise its a long wait.
  10. Congrats Rosco....what is your occupation?...n in what subclass did u apply?
  11. Hi, Did u find anything regarding the change in occupation ceiling ?
  12. Hi nic, Does Ryan have YouTube tutorials for writing? Any idea about his eBook?
  13. Hi, I'm preparing for GT and want to improve my band in writing..... Does anyone have Ryan Higgins eBook for writing task 1 & 2?
  14. Hi All, Can anyone recommend some good reference material for IELTs writing task two? Regards, Arq
  15. Hi Londongal, What does your Agent say about this announcement?
  16. Hi Can any expert/migration agent in the forum comment on the statement issued by DIBP, will there be an increase in the occupation ceiling for the six occupations????
  17. Hi Rossco, As far as subclass 489 is concerned, it is regional provisional (family sponsored). It will remain at 25 places for each invitation round as reflected in the tentative schedule for March... whereas for subclass 489 Skilled Regional (Provisional) (State or territory nominated), the invitations will be independent of occupation ceilings (Correct me if im wrong) Why does not DIBP encurage family sponsored immigration!!!!!!
  18. Hi All, I just checked Skill select today and found this: "In late 2013, the department conducted an evaluation of occupational ceilings to assess how they have operated to date and to consider changes to ensure they are performing their intended function. Based on feedback received as part of the evaluation, the following changes will be in place from 1 March 2014: State and territory nominated visas will no longer be subject to occupational ceiling limitations The minimum ceiling for each occupational group will be 1000 invitations. As there are still high levels of interest from prospective skilled migrants in the following six occupations, pro rata arrangements for these occupational groups will continue: Chemical and Materials Engineers Electronics Engineers Other Engineering Professionals ICT Business and Systems Analysts Software and Applications Programmers Telecommunications Engineering Professionals. Details of the cut-offs for these occupations will continue to be included in the regular invitation round reports." My question is will the state migration plans be revised keeping in view this announcement? Furthermore will the above highlighted occupations ceiling be increased as well and what does the statement mean "As there are still high levels of interest from prospective skilled migrants in the following six occupations, pro rata arrangements for these occupational groups will continue" Does that mean that these six occupations will not have their quotas revised? Regards, Arq
  19. Yes I'm in the same occupation but in subclass 489...
  20. Hi Saini, Keep on checking for the bimonthly EOI reports and occupation ceilings at http://www.immi.gov.au/skills/skillselect/index/reports/, this will give you a clear picture for your occupation. There are 57 places left for 2633 and no invitations are being given out for subclass 489.
  21. Hi All, Is there anyone who is waiting to receive an invite on Subclass 489 family stream in the following occupations? Chemical and Materials Engineers ICT Business and Systems Analysts Electronics Engineers Telecommunications Engineering Professionals Other Engineering Professional Software and Applications Programmers. lets see how many ppl are on the same boat!!
  22. Hi All, Today, when i was going through the 18th Nov report i came across the following statement "Due to the continuing high numbers of EOIs received for the following six occupations, invitations for these occupations will be issued on a pro rata basis in each twice monthly invitation round over the remainder of the program year. Please also note that SkillSelect first allocates available places to Skilled – Independent (Subclass 189) visas and then remaining to Skilled – Regional (Subclass 489) (Provisional – Family Sponsored) visas. If all places are taken up by Subclass 189 visas then there will be no invitations issued for Subclass 489 visas: This clearly indicates that there will be no invitations issued for the six occupations until and unless 489 applicants have more points than 189, which is completely useless and it is better to apply on a skilled independent visa!! Secondly there is another announcement on skillselect that states "Due to a large number of outstanding applications there will be no invitations for subclass 489 – Skilled Regional (Provisional) until further notice. This change will be implemented from the 16 December 2013 invitation round." Outstanding applications??? Arent they operating this visa on a fixed quota?? So limited seats in the overall quota together with a high preference of 189 over 489 and discontinuation of invitations for 489 from 16th Dec clearly reaffirms my perception that DIBP discourages 489 applicants. So for people having relatives in Australia have no advantage at all!!!! Regars, Arq
