  1. thanks for your advice will definitely be up front with immi.
  2. I have a potential 457 sposorship offer and just as i think abou the visa process, i came up with a question. I studied in AU and had criminal record from fraud 10 years ago. No jail time, just fine. it was an one off incident and i am going to be honest with the immigration coz i do not want it to be discovered later on, its going to look ugly that way. my question is: do i have to reveal this to my potential employer? I mean, they did not ask about police check or character reference or any sort. Will it affect my visa if i don't tell my employer about a conviction over 10 years ago? my assumption is that i'll be ok as long as i am honest with immigration up front. thanks!!
  3. yea i know… all i can say is that i had a few eventful years back then… i just hope that DIAC will look at the companies i have worked for and my postgraduate qualification and consider them as some kind of character proof
  4. hi blossom 79… false instrument is fake identification. and no i wasn't imprisoned, just fined. Yes, i will be absolutely honest with DIAC. i think this is the best practice… i just hope this will not be a drawback to my visa application.
  5. Hi there, I have been nominated for 457 visa and I am concerned about some convictions on my Australian police check and would like to hear some advice or if anyone has similar experiences that they would like to share. Back in 2005, while I was on a student visa, I have been charged with using false instrument. I left Australia a few months later and hired a lawyer to settle my court case and paid some fines. This is my one and only conviction and I have been good since then. I am going to mention this on my application for the 457 and I am pretty sure this will show on my police check. I am super worry that I could get refused. Can anyone tell me what my chances to get this visa are?? *Any advice will be appreciated! Thank you.
