  1. Thanks guys thats helpful. So my employer can nominate me before I have done 2 years but I can only apply once i have worked for them for 2 years is that right?
  2. Cheers - this is where it gets tricky - occupation is senior research fellow - My 457 states university lecturer but my employer is health service affiliated with a university. I have a PhD and have read that academics are not normally required to have the skills assessment test but I think that is only true if your employer is a university. The health service I work for could sponsor me under the transfer residence route but have heard that can take up to 18 months and I'd still have to work for them for another 6 months before the process could even commence, hence wondering if they could sponsor me under the direct entry route. Grateful for any advice!
  3. Hi, Help! I am so confused about visas. I am on a 457 (18 months served already) and wanting to get PR and understand under the employer nominated scheme there are 2 routes - Temporary Residence Transition stream and Direct Entry Stream, has anyone experienced of either of these? Can any employer nominate you for each of these? Which is quickest and easiest? I get conflicting advice from migration consultants about eligibility, let alone cost and time taken! Cheers
  4. really? I'll have a years experience in Oz come November, 5 years in Asia and 10 in the UK in my area of work when you say starting again - do you mean they don't recognise the 457 status and its like applying for the first time? Thanks so much for your help everyone
  5. Wow that was quick! thanks so much - I find the immigration web sites tell you nothing! Cheers
  6. Hi Does anyone know how much it costs to apply for PR when on a 457. Do you have to have worked 2 years even if an employee is will to sponsor you? Must you pay for each family member or just the employed visa holder? Cheers!
  7. Visas were approved yesterday, it took 2 weeks and 2 days. Best of luck to all of you out there. I did find that the system got updated apprx 24 hours after posting an enquiry to the contact department - might help those of you waiting a long time. Best of luck to you all and thanks for your helpful comments.
  8. wow that's quick...thanks!... that's really encouraging, mine was submitted on 11/8 and says today all medicals received and application being processed further - so here's hoping we'll hear any time soon. Life in Limbo eh!
  9. How long does it take for a 457 visa to be approved (British family), must I wait until employer (sponsor) has been approved before I apply? Grateful for any advice.
