  1. It's not the first case of this sort I've heard of. If they said you would have been invited anyway, there's no need to worry. Dropping the points to 60 will not be cause for refusal. If they considered you should be denied, they wouldn't have bothered to send the email.

Anyway, the other two cases I've heard of were granted eventually.

  2. Hi,

We are a young family, 2 kids (3 and 5).

We are flying to Sydney on the 29th of August. We thought we'll be looking for rent in Brighton-Le-Sands, on a friend's advice.

If anybody knows more about the area, please share. We want to know more about the public schools, neighborhood.

    Thanks

  3. Who do you mean by dependents? on a 189 skilled migration visa if your partner is not a native speaker they have to pass IELTS with an overall score of 4.5 or higher, or pay a secondary fee in excess of $5000 in addition to the near $2000 visa fee.

I am going through this process at the moment with my wife.

Yes, there is IELTS, as explained in the posts above.

What I was saying, if the dependents do not get 4.5 overall (dependents have been explained above by MaggieMay), you have to pay the 2nd Instalment, aka VAC2, aka English Education Charge (EEC).

This fee is in theory for taking English classes, but this is not compulsory, nor should you pass any test afterwards.

  4. The secondary fee for dependants who cannot pass the English test is in exceed of $5000. And it is not a way out of it - the are still supposed to take lessons and pass the test once they arrive in Australia. (that's what the money is for allegedly)

I have no idea what happens if they don't pass the test though.

There is no English test for dependents. They take your money for English lessons, but they do not require you to attend, or sit any kind of test.

  5. Hi,

Applied for State nomination on 20th March 2014. Got rejected:sad:. Main reason is tht they don't look into Skill assessment tht is more than 3 years old. Also I nvr been to Canberra when I lived in WA for a long time..so they don't consider me as a genuine applicant............this sucks :(

Yes, there is a new DIBP rule that says assessments are valid for 3 years only. About the other thing, I can understand their concern that you'll continue your life in WA after you get your visa. If you look in threads about sponsorship and jumping states, you will see there are a lot of people who consider they are not bound to the state that nominated them. So, States become more careful.

You need to work harder to convince them.

  6. You can set up an Immiaccount, and import your application. You just need the application number from your agent.

Hi all, great to see so many of the march people getting there grants.. has anyone used an immi account, i used an agent and she did everything. now the problem is she has gone on holiday for the next two weeks and my head is about to explode.. can i set up my own immi account or do i need to get my password from my agent to check my visa status? Thanks in advance
  7. 1- Yes

2- Not "may be" but "will be" canceled

3- Never heard of anybody who got an extension

The 3 month timeline is strange, though. They asked me if I can make it before 1st of November, and I said yes. They gave me the opportunity to extend IED, by taking the medicals again.

Didn't they ask you if your IED is OK?

Is there any reason you and your spouse wouldn't be able to fly in for a short holiday? That would be enough to activate the visa for both.
