  1. Karenjh73, contact DCO in Liverpool (NSW) they are very similar to SSAFA but are a lot more efficient, you should have an email from them by now and ask them the relevant questions you want specific answers too, what you want isn't always the same as what others do, especially when it comes to family life. I would also wait until you get access to Homefind as you may only have a small choice of areas anyway. The usual ones are Ryde, Caringbah, ermington and sutherland. There are a few other areas dotted around so it will pot luck to what's available when your due to come over. If you want any more info send a message.
  2. Scozzie, Mikes bar and grill at Tom Ugly bridge has great food for kids and adults and is reasonably priced that said not much for them to do as it's just a restaurant. The Crest Hotel in Sylvania (Southgate Shopping Centre) is a different matter, soft play area for kids, great food and a good price, I think the play area is also free but you would have to check on that. There is a a Chinese Yum Char in blakehurst which is always full of youngsters and being a yum char they can pick their own food as the waiters/waitresses bring it round. There is a Tepenyaki at Sylvania Heights which is good fun as the chef likes to throw food into the kids mouths oh and raw eggs into their bowls, harmless fun but the kids we saw really enjoyed it, there's also a few Chinese places within a few minutes walk but don't do the buffet type menu, Jade Lotus is pretty good food though. 4. Hi, we're in Sylvania on the water and it's a great place to live ! Very quiet apart from a bit of building work but that won't be for long. I use to get the train to CBD in a morning and had to get bus to Hurstville all in all took an hour and public transport is far superior to the UK ! Just buy the 10 trip bus and train tickets saves a lot of money. There are also loads of schools in the area, cronulla beach is 15 mins away in the car and a good shopping centre two mins away with a very big one 10 mins away in Miranda. Also access to some amazing scenery and waterfront walks within minutes, rent is more than your $600 a week but not hugely !
