Thanks Emma for sharing your views. Actually the scenario you are presenting is a scenario under normal circumstances. Basically I wanted to learn that if Case Officers use their discretions on case to case basis. I came across a post in some online forums when the person haven't had met 2 years requirement and still he was granted 5 years RRV. I would really appreciate more responses from our forum members.

I want both. Because different people have different experiences. Visa decision is mostly dependent on the CASE OFFICER. I might have used wrong word OPINION.Actually I wanted to learn more about different people's experiences.

Thank you so much Rupert. As I mentioned in my thread that I don't have substantial ties with Australia BUT A BANK ACCOUNT WITH SOME AUD 15000 and some very close friends. Also I might not be able to return before the expiration of my visa as my mother can not be left alone even for a single second.Is there any way that I could get a 5 years RRV on compassionate basis?
