    Hi,

I have applied for Citizenship on June and it seems there is no chance to get any news till next year. My PR will expire in September. Shall I apply for BVB or PR return? I want to be able to leave Australia anytime without applying for any visa.

as we are waiting now almost 19 months for even getting a citizenship test date in Brisbane ( bonkers )  i would defo advice get RRV in place asap ..... we secured ours thankfully ,  never thought it would take this long to complete citizenship so glad RRV in place as we  travel yearly at least back to uk etc   ...... x

  2. So we have triggered emails and phone calls ( again ) to anyone who might listen to my whingeing  lol

We are now over 18 months from application received email and to date NOTHING whatsoever still

i see now 24 months from start to finish which does infact give them still 5 months to get our tests done/decision made/ceremony done and dusted so  i remain waiting  and waiting for some contact .

I dont mind waiting if the system is fair and they do it in application order but it remains to be all just totally random sadly - so  people get frustrated , why some cases get thro quickly and others get tests then wait forever and then people like us dont get anything at all  i just cant fathom it out .....i suspect most cases are straight forward conversions from PR to citizenship in this forum so why is everyone getting totally random timelines ? I get city to city variation but not from same offices in same city ??? odd

First world problem again as i say as we are here , working , enjoying life  in Brisbane   but just a little frustrated  still  xxxx

I have been waiting since application received by department on 23 April 2018 NOTHING SINCE.... some 15 months...

i think we may be the longest wait ever to even get a test date looking at these  timelines, easily going to go into the 20 months/ 10% of cases  group of cases ........which i presume is a bottomless spam pit of lost applications lol ..... x

  5. OMG spitting fire today ..... my work colleugue ( cant spell today as so frustrated ) applied 24/2/19 Brisbane  and got test date  end of 10/19 !!!!!! holy hell fire!!!!!

Despite numerous calls and emails iam still waiting  to get a bloody test date from 1/18 Brisbane  application !!!!!!!!!!

what is wrong with this system ????!!!!!!

same jobs so cant be to do with jobs , only difference is she is single applicant as all her family got it last year  , we are a family of 4 linked application- me and 2 kids linked with my husbands application -    totally straight forward  application direct from PR  189 visa from UK .......

are they really just picking up random files down in the city ??????

how many calls and emails can i send before i go to the prime minister !!!??? lol

soooooooo frustrating ........ rant over ...... first world problem of course but really ??????????????? please send me alcohol and chocolate today as sat in my office slowly screaming ...... lol xxx

Does being from a Regional areas means it takes a little bit longer then those in the big cities? Especially if you have all your papers, are documented and there shouldn't be anything hindering ones approval 😔

nope - we applied Brisbane and still waiting for a test date at 18 months lol........ it is just a lottery from what iam reading and hearing for everyone .....we are easy family application so no reason for our delay which is even crazier......

  8. has anyone here - i think some may have ? - gone to federal MPs wrt waiting times ? if so any tips on wording-what to put in your email ? A few on here have adviced i contact my MP  due to ongoing wait of nearly 18months now  for anything to happen..... iam still within processing time  of lodgement to decision of 23months obv  so not sure if wasting my time and i should just perhaps wait till i get to 23 months ...... we havent even got date for test as yet at almost 18 months ....phoned many times and told all ok just wait ......sent email and told just wait

anyone else tried this ? waste of time and energy? best to wait till cross the 23 month  border  into the wasteland of lost applications perhaps ?.......

wrt going thro the 23month wait  would an agent be of help if we get to end of year without test dates ?

    must stay calm ....... x

    applied 1/18 and nothing ........

obv still within timeframe  so nothing to do but wait ...... lol

I know what would speed your application up and it would have a 100% success rate.

    Write to your minister.

this is our next step when we hit 18m  which is looming soon...... no idea why we have no test date nor requests for more info ...all very bizarre  and frustrating ....just nothing and when we ring them they say just wait ....arrghhhh .... RRV in place for all of us ...send in all copies of new passports  and anything i can think of lol

Wow that's surreal. Same here just for incase I too always travel with printed out PR visa grant notices for myself and son and all this miscellaneous documents. 🤷🏾‍♀️

I do sincerely hope things pick up for you and your family soon. The wait is just tiresome and all this paper work business is ridicules.

thanks! will start a special  whinge group for the 20 month  wait groupies soon i think !  You can see why i get frustrated when people who then want to leave / dont live here properly/ get it faster than us for no reason  lol....... i watch this forum to pick up tips on what to do next but i think i have exhausted all avenues for now lol x

Reading this makes me upset. 18 months and nothing. I hope they haven't lost your file and things pick up at lighting speed very soon. Two years wait just sounds awful. Hoepfully it doesn't come to that😔

i get cross as no reason why and the phone crew just say wait and they cant comment on cases blah blah....we get stopped everytime we fly out or in  by check in crew aswell and they tell us passports and names and visas dont match...stopped going to hong kong  few weeks ago again  ... they had to ring immigration again  whilst we held up baggage check in again -  i fly with a whole file of documents which is ridiculous- birth certs/visa/rrv/marriage certs/old passports - when we came back in a week later i asked the proper chaps at passport control if there was an issue as we keep getting stopped at check ins   and they said no problems ?????? honestly we are  over it all now as they have every document i hold for myself and family....

If we had some complex situation i would understand ........ my husband flies to uk to see his sick dad next week for 2 weeks and iam preparing his file of documents as just know there will be an issue at check in again ..... we have 5 yr RRV in place so we know this is a first world problem but just a tad fed up now ....

we hit 18 months on 3rd June ..... xx

Same here. Applied August '18 and not heard a thing. The only way I know I'm in the system is when I go into my IMMI account. I haven't even had a confirmation email of my application. To be honest it's taking so long I even forget I've applied!!! Appears to be just a money making scheme when you have to apply for an RRV to ensure you still have travel rights whilst waiting. Simple individual of 1 from the UK with a 4th generation aussie partner (and she got her UK citizenship with 4 months of applying) lol.............

I rang them this week and they just said ‘all in order’ and just to wait .... they said send email if still not sat test by 20months and I found the complaints page for citizenships going over 24 months ....... can’t believe  we are hitting 18 months and not a peep and the phone kids are hopeless as just can’t say anything about your application ...... will have to start a thread for the lost citizenship pile if we hit 20months ..... still got to get test date / sit test / wait for ceremony / get passport before all finished so I think we may easily go all way to 2 years at this rate 😂

    Hi all,

    Applied Citizenship via conferral 31/8/17

Further info requested - heard nothing since...........

    I hit the 20month mark on 1/5/19.

Anyone experience of the complaint process I can go through to get some resolution come next week when I am outside of the processing times?

Do I complain to Immigration first and then go to the Ombudsman if no resolution?

I am drafting a letter to local MP as we speak - ready to send when I hit the 20 month mark.

    Feeling frustrated...

    Thanks for any advice.

can i ask what was the further info they wanted? at how many months did that come ?

we are now over 16 months from application  and nothing at all since then so we arent far behind you in what seems to be the longest wait i can see to even sit the test.... what city are u in ?

even if we get the test date we still have to then wait for a ceremony and then passports so  our timeline i suspect is going to go over 24 months  .......

it doesnt change anything but i worry at this rate i will need another RRV ..... hahahaha

any help when you phone them? all i get is we are within the timeline so just sit back....... no news is good news i was told last time lol

    UK applicant.

I am going to ring them first off on 1/5/19 and find out but sometimes people have found helpful phrases or "trigger" words that get them to pull their finger out a bit quicker when used!

lordy 20 months-we are at 16 months now and nothing - not even any extra info needed- we are straight forward uk famiy .......i best be patient !
